Shower Help With The Drain Still In!
delta_girl replied to MrsM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder how many doctors are still using drains. The same for the horror stories about gas pain. I had neither. -

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call
delta_girl replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This looks pretty close to right for servings and calories, but I already know there is no way I could get all of that in me at once. I was getting worried, but I'm not now! Thanks for posting this! -
Height, Weight, And Size Poll
delta_girl replied to LeaveItToSleever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 5'3" and currently weigh 184 lbs and wear a size 16 or 18. The weight is not coming off of my waist as quickly as it is coming off of my hips and butt. Though the waist of my pants fit, the butt and hip areas of my pants are very baggy. I hope this trend stops and my waist area catches up. I am 7 weeks post op and have lost 32 lbs so far. -
I Need Help Please!
delta_girl replied to jewels1227's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually got scolded by my doctor for eating 80g of protein one day. He said that at my height I should get 45-50 g a day and no more, no less. -
So true. I no longer can nor do I want to eat myself into a food coma.

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
delta_girl replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Feeling bad all of the time. My big size 10 shoes were all tight and I wondered how my foot had grown larger to an 11. My large closet and the guest room closet were full of clothes in three different sizes, none of which I could wear. Not making it to the bathroom fast enough before a bit of urinary incontinence kicked in. Looking like a sweaty mess all of the time. Hiding food. .....gosh this list could go on and on. -
Sometimes I dread eating, even when I may be hungry. I know that most often it is not going to be fun anymore. It isn't usually very comfortable, either. The first few bites or swallows will probably result in some shifting around down my esophagus or a bit of trapped air. Then there is the mystery of if my stomach is going to like it or not. I have been fortunate that chicken works ok, but I'm not yet to the point where I'm eating all foods yet. I even revert back to my Stage I or Stage II diet because my stomach likes those things much more than others. I wouldn't trade it for my old stomach, though. It is a wish come true, just not without a few down sides that are very manageable, though not always convenient or fun.

Did you work with a nutritionist that provided any papers or guides? You can read packages to find the nutritional information. There are a lot of web sites that have the information on other foods. Many of us use myfitnesspal.com to enter our foods and it automatically calculates grams of Protein, carbohydrates, fat, etc. for us. You may be interested in signing up for a free account there.

I believe that they are really easy to find. It's what you do in exchange that gets dicey.

How Many Calories At 7 Weeks?
delta_girl replied to ArtSong's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have around 480-550 calories a day at 7 weeks. I also posted a thread titled "Sophisticated Calculator" that you can search for that gives more info on what you are asking. I'm on my phone using the app, so can't post the direct URL right now. -
Help Needed To Move Past A Plateau
delta_girl replied to Chicago1962's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Also check to make sure your diet includes a little bit of good fat like olive oil or a piece of fish high in Omega 3s. -
I don't really miss soda at all. Now good beer is a totally different story! I have yet to dare either.

I'll add one of yours to my list. I tried on I can't even remember how many pairs of boots at a nice department store in the mall this past weekend and only one pair were big enough for my huge calf. Of course, they didn't have the color I wanted and no other store had it in stock. So I would love to be able to walk into a store and try on boots without it being a huge issue.

Does Starvation Mode Really Matter?
delta_girl replied to wendy88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We are also all going to lose some muscle, no matter how much Protein we eat or exercise. If someone weighs 250 lbs, it takes enough muscle to be able to move that load around. Someone who weighs 135 lbs doesn't need the same. This isn't scientific, just what makes sense to me. Feel free to add input, toss in some links, share other expertise. -
Does Starvation Mode Really Matter?
delta_girl replied to wendy88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Geez. I think both of them lost everything, fat, muscle, Water, blood volume? ew. They were both slim in the first place. Yeah. They can work with nutritionists and trainers and have special food prepared for them to bounce back after they win their Academy Awards. The part of it that really stood out for me is, of course it is dramatic, but how motivated they both are to go to such extremes. Natalie Portman did it for the Black Swan, too. When people on the forums start fussing about stalls and "only" losing 20, 30, 40 lbs last month and now they are "only" losing 10 or 12 lbs this month, they are probably on track with the craziness that the actors are doing for these roles, only the actor's weight probably comes off even slower since they are underweight in the first place. Whenever I catch myself feeling down about not dropping weight faster, I have to think of how long it took to put it on, how long it stuck around, and that now it is going in the right direction ....down. What's to fuss about? -
No Its what we are talking about in this case!

Does Starvation Mode Really Matter?

Matthew McConaguhey just lost 38 lbs for his role in the Dallas Buyers Club. He said he quit eating food and only drank tea, considering his prep a "spiritual cleanse." Anne Hathaway dropped 25 lbs to play Fantine in Les Mis. She may or may not have been joking when she said she only ate radishes and two thin pieces of oatmeal paste a day. If you haven't seen a recent pic of McConaguhey lately, Google it. You can't recognize him -
It irritates me to hear and read hubby, hubs, wifey, AND kiddos. I don't know why either!! It also really, really irritates me when people refer to their significant other as "my man" or "my woman." I DO know why this bothers me.

You still need to have enough to digest for your body to make bowel movements in order to have healthy digestive system.

Thanksgiving Day Challenge
delta_girl replied to AKSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I set a fairly ambitious goal of 11 lbs. To meet my challenge I need to lose 6 lbs from now till Thanksgiving, which is 9 days. I may pull off 3, but 9 is not looking possible. A stall didn't help things. But no matter what, I've lost, which is a win. -
Showering With Glue?
delta_girl replied to mezanne1401's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shower normally, wash, don't scrub those areas. Pat dry. Don't clean your incisions, just leave them alone. After a while the glue will begin to slowly peel away from the skin around the edges. I would trim these with a tiny pair of scissors. Don't pull on the glue to try to get it to come off faster. It will eventually shed. At that point, if your incisions are red, you may want to add a little bit of antibacterial salve. The doctor didn't tell me to do that, but I have found that it helps. It is possible that there will be a very small amount of drainage. Just keep the area clean and dry. -

At week 7, going into week 8 I've noticed that (unless I'm stalling) I average 2 - 2.5 lbs per week. That is about 10 lbs per month, which I have seen in many posts as a reasonable expectation. If you have a lot more weight to lose then it may go faster. With that said, there are probably some things you can do to provide an advantage, such as frequent, high intensity work outs that keep your heart rate in its target zone and drinking more Water.
