Would U Do It With Bmi Of 38?
delta_girl replied to NurseMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We have close to the exact same everything, except I don't have kids. I'm 9 weeks out and feel fantastic. I started feeling better within just a few days of surgery. My energy level bounced back, my joints stopped hurting, I started sleeping better within a few weeks. I can't offer any input about caring for kids, though. -

3 B Question! Bra, Bananna, And Bad Breath!
delta_girl replied to MrsM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The breath thing is ketosis. You can do a search in these forums and find a lot of info. -
I had forgotten all about my grandmother telling me the same thing until now. She would say how pretty I would be if I lost weight. Ironically she was quite overweight herself. And I can still remember a boy I had a crush on in 6th grade telling me he would like me if I lost weight.

I've heard the "pretty face" thing many times, always from men (never women). That is exactly how I hear it. Your face is pretty but the rest of you isn't.

After All This What If It Doesn't Work......in Tears
delta_girl replied to READY TO LOSE IT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first few weeks for me were not easy. I had moments of depression, loss, fear. It was a very emotional time and some days it was physically difficult. Thank goodness that stage passes quickly. Hang in there. -
Chewable Multivitamin Taste Survey
delta_girl replied to ArcusX's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Opurity is the most horrible, worst tasting, foul, gross, putrid, funky tasting chewable that I have had the extreme displeasure of putting in my mouth. I choked down a few and then gave the rest of the container away to a pre-op. -
Had Thanksgiving Seconds....
delta_girl replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had seconds and thirds and fourths, just not much at any meal. Pie and coffee too! I've also walked my hiney off! -
Now that you know what you are doing to cause the pain, you can do something about it.

Last Thanksgiving Pre-Sleeve. Feeling Loss.
delta_girl replied to JeffA70's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was my first Thanksgiving post surgery and it was just fine. I had a little bit of everything I wanted. I even had a taste of dessert with coffee mid-afternoon. Then I had the same the day after for lunch. The one thing that was not enjoyable is the very delicious chocolate Cheesecake Factory dessert that I attempted to eat 1/4th of a piece of did not agree with me after the second little bite. I was not sorry at all to throw it away. -
Protein Hot Chocolate
delta_girl replied to npm518's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have to watch the temperature? Some protein powders are no longer any good above a specific temperature. -
That is the first thing that I noticed, too ...at around -25 lbs. Even though my chest size didn't change, the gut that was holding the "girls" up sure did.

Dumping On Thanksgiving, No Bueno
delta_girl replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I did eat a bit too much for supper (was actually surprised at how much I ate). I did eat extremely slowly, though. Later in the evening I put 1/4th of a piece of chocolate cheesecake on my plate and took some tiny bites. It was so rich and so incredibly good. Since I went so slow with super tiny bits, I started to notice that it was not a good idea to continue to taste, even though it was so wonderful. I think if I had eaten any more I would have been in the same boat. The last time I had dumping syndrome it was when I ate something very sweet and rich. -
Is 65 Lbs A Good Hunk Of Weight To Be Down At 5 Months?
delta_girl replied to stellabug321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LovingmeForever just posted photos in a thread about being at 5.5 months. I think she lost around 70 lbs in that time. I'm only 2 months out so can't give a personal comparison, but 10-12 lbs a month is pretty darn awesome. 8-10 lbs a month is impressive, too. Shoot....any loss at any time is good. -
A lot of perceived hunger that people often complain of is actually acid in the stomach which is why so many doctors tell their sleeve patients to take them.

Before I ate I walked a really fast 30 minutes at the fitness trail. I had about 1/2 oz turkey, 1 teaspoon of green bean casserole, 1 grape, 1 cherry, 1 tablespoon of sweet potato casserole with 2 mini marshmallows on top, a teaspoon of cranberry sauce and probably around 2 tablespoons of dressing. I did drink tea with my meal, too. About 2 hours later I had some coffee and around 2oz of cheesecake. I feel not an iota of guilt or remorse.

Drinking From A Straw...
delta_girl replied to LivinADream's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never drank with straws before, unless I was at a restaurant. Now I use them all of the time. It makes drinking a lot much easier for me. I don't seem to have any trouble with extra air. -
I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back at work on Monday.

I got a b12 shot the week before my surgery. I also started taking a multi Vitamin with Iron at the same time.

Breakfast - 1 shake mixed with Water lunch - 90-100 calorie low fat or fat free yogurt Snack (around 4pm) - popsicle or cottage cheese or beef jerkey Supper - pureed or soft veggie, Soup, maybe a tiny bit of chicken Snack - diet hot chocolate or fat free pudding or sugar free Jello That's my standard. I can eat whatever now, but I don't really want to. I eat a few bites here and there of something or maybe 2 tortillia chips if I have black bean soup. I did have half of a stuffed bell pepper for supper 2x this week. It was made with turkey meat, rice and not very many spices, so super low fat and healthy. As far as how often...my schedule is crazy so I just pace around what is going on.
