    constipation

I do add chia seeds to some things. I may need to add them in more regularly to what I eat. I even carry a small container of them in my purse. I guess I just need to use them a lot more.

Heck no I didn't. I researched and was wayyyyyy too scared to do it after finding out the potential repercussions.

    constipation

Yesterday at lunch I took a tiny laxative pill and again last night and again this morning. Finally I had a bm this afternoon. First time in 2 weeks. It is a real problem for some of us. My doctor told me to take Mirilax, but the tiny pill is so much easier.

    Sad & Pissed

The positive thing is that vsg is quickly becoming a very well established procedure and there are a lot of doctors doing it. You really don't have to go very far to find a good surgeon. You can even go out of the country and have it done for a reasonable price. Good luck.

    Kind of surreal feeling..

Just wait until you wake up in recovery and get into your cozy hospital bed (which, btw, you should not stay in much because you need to walk, walk walk)! Now THAT is a surreal feeling, but also a type of rebirth. It is an amazing time to really study your life and the opportunity to make it over into something new. Very cool thing.

    Kind of surreal feeling..

I felt the exact same way, only not much excitement. It is really a testament to how this really IS major surgery. But fortunately serious complications are rare and vsg is becoming a well established procedure. Just baby yourself and trust your doctors and nurses. It will go by so fast!!!

My surgeon had to do an emergency procedure the week I had surgery. She just couldn't help it and ate part of a piece of toast. The chewed gummy starch lodged in her still very swollen stomach and wouldn't budge. If she was a member here and said, "whoops I cheated" and got supportive feedback, then those who said things like, "It's ok, we all slip up" are contributors to her emergency. I'm not sure if we all have the same definition of the word supportive.

She's being neither hurtful nor cruel. She is being direct and assertive. If you don't like what she says, don't read it. She has a lot of experience to share due to her complications. She knows first hand how difficult and painful it is to have something go wrong. If she doesn't couch that in enough flowers, rainbows and unicorns for someone's particular tastes, then that is OK. Its a public forum and we are adults.

    Drinking/eating

This has been answered more than a few times in several different ways. You can search in the box above to find many of the answers. I don't have the video handy, but there is one that shows how much more quickly your sleeve empties of food when you drink, allowing you to eat a whole lot more than you need or want at this time.

I just ate two cookies and some Chex mix from the break room spread ...after skipping both breakfast and lunch. This round of my TOM is really pushing some edges.

    Why Lie?!?!

I decided to tell a few of my closest friends. Originally I told myself I wouldn't tell any of them. Two of the friends I have known over 30 years, another just within the last two years and her father is a surgeon. Responses? ...shock, disbelief, questions of "why?" and some head shaking. Pretty much consistant responses from all three of them. It will probably make some things easier like not having to explain why I don't eat like I did before, but otherwise it really didn't provide any benefit or desirable outcome in sharing it.

    alcohol

I think this pretty much exact same question gets asked and answered at least once a week. OP, you can do a search at the top of the forums for all types of things. Many questions have been asked dozens and dozens of times. I don't mean to sound rude or like your question isn't special to you, but some days the same question gets asked multiple times and every week the same questions get asked and answered over and over. Yea, I know ...I can just skip over them, but it IS helpful to know (if you don't already) that the forums are searchable.

sooooooo whats on the menu for today?

I don't know if the battle will ever end for some of us. We may always have to plan ahead and be careful with choices. I envy some of the disciplined people here who have really got it together.

    Must.Stop.Weighing.Myself.

I weight myself every day and sometimes at night. I'm stalling yet again because I haven't been exercising. I still fill like I'm doomed to fail sometimes (yesterday). Lots of ups and downs. And its OK. Patience and persistance.....moving forward. Don't know what to tell you about the scale thing. I often don't like what it says but apparently don't want to quit weighing, either. Maybe take your scale to a neighbor's house and only borrow it back on Mondays.

    Feeling a little glum.....

This is what almost everyone experiences at two weeks. There are various reasons for it. Estrogen from fat cells is being dumped out into your system, you have been through physical trauma, you can't self soothe with food you are still recovering. Now in week 3 or so you are going to hit a big stall. Just about everyone does that, too. If someone around here is good with computer graphics, we need a big infographic for what happens when. You can almost set your calendar by when certain things happen for most people.

Scaring the crap out of me!

Was the bathroom door closed? Was the water fairly hot? If there is an oxygen deficit in the room or in just the shower area due to the steam, then it may have been that you just need to leave a crack in the curtain. You may be more sensitive to some things than you were before. Just a guess.

sooooooo whats on the menu for today?

Yesterday I was so bad. I didn't even enter anything into MFP. Its getting near my TOM and I just tasted a few things too many. So today I was not hungry at all for breakfast so I didn't have any. Instead I drank 2 cups of 1/2 caf with some 1% milk. Lunch: 2oz pork 1t cranberry sauce 2 slices of cucumber 1/3 c spinach salad with 1/2 cherry tomato, 1T feta, 1 sugar snap pea Now that I look at that lunch it really doesn't sound like much, but my tummy is full!! The break room is full of fudge and chocolate and Cookies. I have gone in there and looked and smelled, but haven't reached out to try a taste of anything yet. It's weird. Previously I would have gone to the sweets table 2-3 times and eaten anything that wasn't nailed down. Now I question it. That one sure has a lot of almonds in it. That one probably doesn't taste as good as it looks. Those came from the store and are full of preservatives. How may carbs are in that? That doesn't mean that if I decide I really want a piece I won't eat it. Heck yes I'll eat it. But probably one piece and probably not even the whole thing.

Yeah, there are probably dozens and dozens of threads on this. New ones each week. Try searching up top. People share their experiences and tips.

    Model My Diet

OK ....this thing has had me entertained for at least 15 minutes now. It is a long way from being what it could be and the accuracy is laughable, but you might be entertained, too. http://www.modelmydiet.com/

    Model My Diet

I tried 650 lbs and 350 lbs and they look the same. There are no fat rolls. "Medium to large" breasts don't even come close to the size of mine. How much trouble would it have taken to be able to pick hair color or skin color? ...and the guy...oh he was great.
