    Orange juice?

I don't know what his doctor says but I could have it right after surgery. Diluted, of course. I like the low acid, low pulp variety.

    Swallowing Whole Pills

I like regular Tums for calcium. I also use Flintstones with Iron. They taste weird to me, but they are small and easy.

    CRAYZ MOTHER!

She may think she is actually helping you more by not helping? I'm not in your shoes so really don't know. My surgeon was sure to make himself extremely clear that all of his lapband and vsg patients have no restrictions after surgery and dismissal from the hospital. None. They should immediately resume regular activities including driving and going back to work. No fussing, no excuses (with the exception of a real medical issue requiring action). He is a tough love type of surgeon. Some people are probably wired that way. I'm sorry you are not getting what you need at this time and hope that you are feeling stronger again soon.

GOOD fast food choices ?! :)

The first two items are the only ones I get from fast food. Though there are some other options that sound good, they aren't as healthy as that might first appear. Panera low fat chicken noodle Soup - 13.5 oz - 120 calories 1.5g fat, 1380mg sodium, 22g carbs, 3g Fiber, 8g Protein fruit and yogurt parfait from McDonald's - 130 calories 4g protein, 25g carbs, 2g fat fruit and maple oatmeal from McDonald's - 250 calories with changes below (It is actually 2 servings of oatmeal.) ask them to skip adding in the sugar and substitute hot Water for the cream add in the fruit 5g protein, 5g fiber, 49g carbs, 2.5g fat (That's a ton of carbs!) Wendy's apple pecan chicken salad - no pecans, no dressing - 350 calories As served - 570 calories Wendy's spicy chicken Caesar salad - no croutons, no dressing - 470 calories As served - 770 calories Wendy's small chili - 210 calories 6g fat, 40mg cholesterol, 880 mg sodium, 21g carbs, 6g fiber, 17g protein Panera low fat vegetarian black bean - 240 calories 2.5g fat, 1270mg sodium, 50g carbs, 9g fiber, 12g protein You can go to just about any fast food/restaurant web site and see their nutritional information.
  7. You look related, but not like the same person! Very marked difference. You are stunning!
  8. I really like the Powerade Zero. G2 has a lot more carbs. I don't know the names of the flavors, but the blue, purple and red are pretty darn good.

    Is it just me?

I still take a PPI 2x daily, otherwise my stomach make crazy noises when I eat and I feel more hunger sensations.

    11 Weeks...Calories?

I was never given a calorie target, but at my last office visit I told my surgeon's nurse that I was eating around 500 calories a day and she said that was great. My protein target its 45-50g a day, which I am having a lot of trouble with lately as I transition away from shakes before Jan 1 by my surgeon's direction.
  13. I really like drinking the Swiss Miss Diet hot chocolate for a sweet treat. 25 calories. I still keep sugar free popsicles in the freezer, too.

Can I See Meals/portion Sizes Please?

Got back home after visiting family for the holidays. I haven't had time to go to the store so I made do with some things in the fridge for lunch. I'm 13 weeks out now. This is a small dessert paper plate. On it I have 1 Baby Bell light, some pistachios, sugar snap peas, 3/4ths of a pear and some sweet potato chips. I stopped eating when I felt satisfied. Yes, I know I'm missing better Protein sources, but like I said, just got back and haven't been to the grocery.

    dark chocolate?

Target has a really great selection of dark chocolate with a few gourmet varieties as well. I bought a bar that had some coconut mixed in about 3 weeks ago and still have over half of the bar. I just don't crave sugar anywhere near what I did before.

    Typical rate of weight loss

At 13 weeks out now I average around 2 - 2.5 lbs a week. I am anticipating approximately 10 lbs per month and if it is more then that's great. If less, OK, too. It took a lifetime to get this fat so I'm not splitting hairs on how fast I can rip it off.

    Veggiing Out?

    6 months out try everything.

    why wont my stomach leave!

I have little to compare this to, but I do remember a zillion years ago in college when I got down to 115 lbs for the first time since birth and still had a belly. I want to get down to 115 lbs again, which is my goal. I'm going to guess that when I eventually do, I will still have a belly and will need to continue to exercise and moderate my diet. It just isn't going to happen in one beautiful swoop. Reality is not that kind to most of us. Just keep doing good things for your health and be the best you that you can be.
  20. One month out I was on baby food, broth, sugar free popscicles, watered cream of something soup, watery cream of wheat, canned tuna with a tablespoon of low fat cottage cheese, and lots of protein drinks. I "cheated" with a few crackers and pretzles every few days.

    Liver diet?!

The level of hunger at pre-op can be off the chart. After the first week it is better. Many weeks out it isn't even in the same ballgame. An example. Im 13 weeks out. At the checkout counter of the grocery my boyfriend looked down at a huge box of Snickers candy bars. He asked me if I wanted one. I looked at it and saw that there were probably 24 or so in that box. I really, truly didn't want one at all. I said no way. But I also thought that pre op I could have probably eaten 5-6 of them. It is really, really different in a fantastic way. You are going to LOVE it!

    Bmr question?

Here is a post I made a while back. You may find it somewhat helpful: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/57581-sophisticated-calculator-caloric-deficit-exercise-for-monthly-estimates/
  23. A little pillow. It is as valuable as chapstick and toothbrush. Hold it over your tummy after surgery. Use it to prop against in your chair. Use it as a soft buffer when laying down. It gives soft, gentle support. A full size one may be too big (it was for me).

    Denied, fighting depression.

Mexico has negative connotations from the photos and movies we see where there is a lot of poverty, but seriously, go to Youtube and check out some of the videos. The facilities look fresh, modern and the accommodations and care are superlative. You may want to do a search up top to see what you can find on threads by people who have had their surgery done there. This may reassure your husband.

    Ehats your secret

Hmmm.....have you checked your heart rate during exercise to see if you are in your "target" range?
