Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call
delta_girl replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went in to see my doctor/surgeon for my 3.5 month follow up yesterday morning. I felt like a whipped dog with her tail between her legs when I got on that scale for the "official" weigh in. It said 165. Two weeks prior I was at 161. When I visited with my doctor I told him it was my TOM and that I had already hit a plateau anyway. He had already asked me to stop drinking shakes, so I had pretty much done that. I had around 500-800 calories a day during those two weeks. His response really surprised me because he is a tough love type of guy. He said do not have unrealistic expectations and day to day scale numbers and even week to week scale numbers are irrelevant. What matters is over several months, 6 months, a year, two years. He was also referring to the fact that in 3.5 months I have already lost more than half of my excess weight and don't have nearly as far to go now. My defeating voice in my head keeps saying that its over. I was lucky to lose this much and just don't gain any back. I've had lots of practice over many years of feeling like this from diets, then the weight plus extra creeps back. I know it will get better, I've just got the blues for a few days. -
How long did you take off work?

I was tired, but with a desk job it was manageable. -

Only banded 6 months hate it is it to early to get a revision to the sleeve?
delta_girl replied to mercedes66693's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Give it more time. Track your food and count calories. Work with a nutritionist. The sleeve isn't "easy." -
I picked up some Terra brand sweet potato chips and loved them. I could eat maybe three of them and that's it. They are thick and hard compared to regular potato chips. I probably ate around half of a bag over 3-4 weeks and then I was done and didn't even want any from the remaining.

5wks PO, and YES I regret
delta_girl replied to happydaisy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My whole first two months were up and down with my emotions and food issues. Though I have not regretted surgery, sometimes I wish I could have more than two bites of fruit because it tastes so delicious and fresh now. There was a point around 8-9 weeks that it got a LOT better pretty fast. I guess that was about the time I could start eating most anything, just not a lot of it. Hopefully you'll push through and have a breakthrough soon that makes you feel better about your choice. -
Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call
delta_girl replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stalled for almost two weeks, then I gained 4 lbs on the scale. Its that TOM, which is being particularly prissy this round. I know intellectually that I have not really gained 4 lbs. There is no way. I should have lost 6 lbs in the last two weeks based on my average. I have a follow up visit this morning and I was hoping to be further along when I do my weigh in. No tears here, though. Anything is better than where I was. -
Prilosec/other PPI's - length of use
delta_girl replied to Facing50's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I have used Prilosec and Prevacid. I prefer Prevacid because it just seems to work better for me. It is only effective for a certain length of time, though, then I suppose your body builds up a tolerance to it. I'm 3 and a half months out and I've switched them out. I have a follow up appointment tomorrow and my doctor is probably going to fuss that I'm still using them (2x a day!) -
Amount of hair loss...
delta_girl replied to mgsmith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been losing hair like crazy ...I thought. I wash my hair every other day and a lot comes out in the shower, it sheds during the day and I have to keep a lint roller around. When I do my hair in the morning a lot falls into the sink that I have to clean out. That is a lot more than comes out at once for me, though. I could probably collect that much in several days. -
This gets posted to the forum about once a week or so. It is very common. I was on mine too.

I can't deal with this stall anymore
delta_girl replied to cygnusatratus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3.5 months post op and have been stalled for 2+ weeks. I actually went up 2 lbs and have stayed there. I'm not eating crazy things. I have around 400-600 calories a day. Guess my body is just readjusting. While on one hand I wish the stall would hurry up and break, I have lost 56 lbs and 2/3rds of my closet doesn't fit anymore. People are telling me I look great and I feel fantastic. Some people just have stalls and some last longer than others. -

Hotel breakfast and how much I ate. The yogurt is a mini one. It was not low fat and had 110 calories, so I ate 3/4ths of it. I only ate a piece of the top of a mini muffin and two bites of the egg.

I had this sashimi salad yesterday and it was incredibly good. I asked for the ginger dressing on the side and used almost none of it. It did have some ponzu sauce sprinkled on top so it really didn't need any dressing. I also had some miso Soup. I ate all of the sashimi and a few pieces of lettuce and less than 1/4 of a cup of the miso.

Pineapple....it is fantastic!

I had edamame and most of a shrimp shumai appetizer last night. It was really good! I could only eat about 1/2 of the edamame.

Try Whole Foods.

My birthday is coming up and I plan on enjoying it. Instead of a cake, I may try something different, like an Italian treat that has nuts or fruit instead of just sugar and fat, which don't agree with me anymore.

I kinda did the same thing. Two weeks pre op my surgeon's nurse told me I had better not gain any weight prior to surgery. I believe that she was warning me that he would nor proceed the day of surgery if I had gained. So I had lots of food funerals but with a strong dose of fear. I had ice cream, sushi, Indian, steak, candy, cake, doughnuts, fried foods, ...even things that I would never normally want to eat. But I tried to keep the portions much smaller than usual, I was exercising a lot and I would cut back on the other meals of the day. I lost 4 lbs even during that crazy time.

It depends on your sleeve's tolerance to bread, sugar or fat. Some can eat it with no problem. It makes others slime or throw up. I can eat something like cake or pie if I only have around 1 tablespoon of it. More than that and it makes me feel very ill. I'm 3.5 months out and used to live on sweets.

Doubting & super worried
delta_girl replied to christy38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had both of those issues prior to surgery and it was fine. My surgeon fixed my hernia at the same time as the vsg. -
Read the label for calories, sodium, preservatives and fat. Crap food. Since we can eat so little, make it count nutritionally.
