Really for me its been developing a routine when it comes to meals. I pretty much stick to liquid diet stuff (popsicles, Jello, pudding). Every other day I have an actual meal which is usually just mashed potatoes or a small can of Chef Boyardee spaghetti or popcorn. Now that I've been basically on the same diet for a couple of months solid, it's coming along pretty easily.

I'd also like to check in to state that it's been almost 4 months now (banded 2/5) and I have lost 64 pounds since the first day of my 2-week pre-op diet and 53 since the surgery date. It should be more but I cheated with ice cream a few times. I've had 2 fills and a refill that came about a week or so after a fill as I wanted a little more restriction. My peak weight was 350, I was about 345 in December, now sitting at 272 as of this morning. I'm feeling 10000% better and aim to play singles tennis when I get down to 250, which will hopefully be by the end of July. Ultimate goal is to be down to 200 by the end of the year. Banded by Dr. Webb.

GL Karen! You'll do fine.

Had my surgery today and was released today. Everything went smooth. Hospital kind of screwed me a little and kept me in the recovery room like 2 hours longer than I should have and it hurt my back but it should be ok in a day or two. No pain thus far. After waking up from the anesthesia, I was pretty much awake all day, only getting slightly tired a few hours later but not going to sleep. Good luck all Jax people getting banded. I was very impressed by the staff at Jax Memorial as well. RN's were very good.

Checked in today at around 7:50am. Checked out around 8:30pm. Surgery went great. No pain (as of right now) at all throughout. Had some discomfort in the midsection but that's standard. Walked around the room 3 times with no issues. Actually there was 1 issue. I went from surgery to the recovery room, and after "an hour to an hour and a half" was supposed to be transferred to the short wait room. I waited about 3 hours in an uncomfortable stretcher that really hurt my back because they couldn't get a room open. Ugh. Other than that, everything was great. I hope all went well with the V-V's today. Oh, and while watching TV I kept seeing pizza Hut ads like every commercial break. Thanks a lot TV.

Hey everyone. I'm also in Jax. I went to Lap Weight Loss Center on Baymeadows. My whole experience has been great, no bumps in the road at all. Surgery set for Feb 5th. I've lost about 5 pounds since starting the pre-op diet last Tuesday. I actually ate a couple of chicken salads and (GASP) they didn't taste too bad. LOL. I'm pretty anxious about getting started on the band. I finally broke the news to my close friends who were very supportive. Oh, and I'm having the band put in by Dr. Webb.

CIGNA people-How long did it take for approval/denial?
petergriffin replied to kacee's topic in Insurance & Financing
Good info. I had my paperwork submitted today and I am pretty confident I have fulfilled all their criteria. The only issues I might have is that I don't have any co-morbidities (my argument is that I'm trying to get this done to, among the standard reasons, to prevent future problems) and that I do not have 5 years of medical history (which I've been told should not be a problem). I was actually told Cigna has *60* days but I will bug them as frequently as I can and hope everything goes through expeditiously. -
GAH! Help me decipher this so I can sleep tonight
petergriffin posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
:help::eek: I just got an updated insurance packet from my employer yesterday. Tonight I finally sat down to check it out. So I'm reading all about what it covers (I have Cigna OAP). On one of the first pages it reads: "Outpatient Facility Services includes: Operating Room, Recovery Room, Procedure Room and Diagnostic/Therapeutic Lab Physician and Outpatient Professional Services" This is still listed as 20% which is what its always been and what I always considered what I'd be paying for getting banded. But then I go to the back where they list exclusions and this one is on there: "Medical and surgical services, initial and repeat, intended for the treatment or control of obesity, including clinically severe (morbid) obesity, including: medical and surgical services to alter appearances or physical changes that are the result of any surgery performed for the management of obesity or clinically severe (morbid) obesity; and weight loss programs or treatments, whether prescribed or recommended by a physician or under medical supervision." Also at the end it lists a whole bunch of stuff not covered however lap banding isn't in there (where it looks like it would probably fit if not covered). Of course its Sunday night and Cigna is closed and for some reason mycigna.com has been down for me for several weeks. Can anybody help me out with this? -
GAH! Help me decipher this so I can sleep tonight

That's what I thought as well but seeing anything under exclusions about this really scared me. I do remember seeing the code somewhere on here, but I am def. calling in the morning. Thanks for the help! -
I have one month left on mine, man I'm getting excited! Were you required to lose a certain amount of weight beforehand or was it just "do 6 months then get the okay"?

Insurance Co. requires 6 months of documented medically supervised wght loss plan
petergriffin replied to 2boys3cats's topic in Insurance & Financing
I've read that in the 6-month supervised diet, the first visit does NOT count towards your requirement. Meaning it goes like this: 1st visit: Inform PCP of desire to have Lap Band 2nd-7th monthly visits: Actual 6-month requirement Anybody that knows, is this true? I go in for my 5th PCP visit in the morning but it would only be my 4th after the initial visit.
