High Protein "snack" Ideas.... Lets Start A List To Refer To When We Need Ideas
SweetC replied to WLJourneyJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 months out as of the 7th of this month. Snacks I like are some of those mentioned and I like Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bar (Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate), Pure Protein High Protein Bar, Breakstone Doubles(Cottage Cheese and Fruit), Yoplait Yogurt Parfait and I love McDonalds SF NF latte. A small is only 90 cals. Oh, a slice of Boars Head Black Forest Ham wrapped around a slice of provolone cheese...Yum Yum Yum!!! Pot Likkers are tasty too. -

I never had a problem with eggs of any kind. I like them scrambled with cheese and bacon bits... -

I do attend a support group on 1960 and 45. As for my food, I do not count calories or keep track of protein so I don't know how much of anything I am consuming. A typical breakfast would be egg whites and a piece of turkey sausage, snack a greek yogurt with fruit, lunch slice of turkey deli meat rolled in a slice of cheese, snack may be a protein bar and dinner a smart one or a piece of meat and veggie. Everyday I have a SF NF vanilla latte from McDonalds, small. Some days I may have wo. I must be doing something right, still losing. -

Shocked By Sleeve Experience!
SweetC replied to TamaraS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So happy for you. You are one of the blessed and fortunate ones and me as well because I experienced nothing on the negative side of having been sleeved. I was neither nervous or scared about any part of the process. While being rolled back to prep room, I waived good bye with a big smile. I was ready and so glad I did it. -
Telling Wveryone Or No One
SweetC replied to Mich grand's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
As said before by others, sharing the information is a personal decision. You know your family, friends, co-workers and etc. and how they would react and how you will be able to handle their responses. As for me, I was so excited and happy I finally had made the decision to be sleeved and was confident in my decision until nothing negative I had heard in the past could shake me. I told everyone and the support was amazing! I had heard about all the horror stories and know personally many success stories. I had to do it for me and there are no regrets. The support from everyone has been nothing but positive. Those who had procedures before me offered to help anyway the can. I am almost five months post op on the 5th of October and 45 pounds from my goal. The support from everyone continues. So you do what is best for you and not anyone else but support is golden! -
My doctor recommended one Caltrate chewable for calcium once a day and two Flinstone chewables once a day. I started the day I was discharged and have stuck to his recommendation. I do not take anything else.

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Wow, after reading some of these post; most of them, I know I am in the minority. I was sleeved on May 7th this year and I promise you I have not experience anything like I have just read. There was never any gas, pain, vomiting, discomfort or difficulty getting anything down. Of course I followed doctor's orders to the tee. I never filled the pain medication prescription because I had no pain. I was out so long after surgery until any pain must have worn off by the time I came around. My doctor, said no protein shakes; get protein from food. I started on two chewable vitamins and a chewable calcium tablet on the day of discharge (1 day hospitalization). I have nothing but praises for the entire experience. I can eat anything I want. I can drink wine and everything is in moderation. My desire for sweets has diminished, I don't eat it and no bread and very little rice, potatoes and pasta; really next to none and that is because the desire is not there anymore. I have lost 55 pounds with 45 more to go. I have gone from size 22 to size 16 which is a very comfortable fit. To date I have not done any exercise but plan to start Monday on 10/1. My birthday is on the 25th and I will turn 56 so my goal is 56 pounds lost by my birthday. I am very happy I made the decision to be sleeved and looking forward to the finish line. I never took meds and have always had tons of energy so no change there. I think Doctor Dexter Turnquest is the BEST!
