    Met a major goal today!

One of my biggest goals in having a VSG was to be more "present" in my kid's lives. Because of my weight, I was unable to attend many school activities. Well today, at 92 pounds down since pre op on 10/4/12, I went with my son on his field trip. It was a TON of walking and at times I was out of breath, but, I did it!

    Met a major goal today!

He was thrilled. I was the only parent volunteer for his class so it was special. I'm equally impressed that I'm not that sore today. Thank God I took a hot bath last night! My next goal is to lose enough to get on rides with him this summer. About 44 pounds should do it.

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

My preop was a month. I am happy with the weight loss, don't get me wrong, just seems a little odd I lost more pre op. I know it's stupid, but my doctor said my weight loss was "pretty good" and I am analyzing that to death. Plus, I'm not a perfect eater. I eat what I want, just in very small amounts. I concentrate on protein but I do treat myself. Kids cup of ice cream or a small caramel macchiato and none of it sugar free. So, I guess I'm wondering if that is hinduring things. I never eat more than 1200 - 1400 calories and sometimes less. I know some people are very strict about what they eat but I don't want to feel deprived. I didn't do this to diet, but to reduce my intake. Yes, I am eating much healthier, but I will never eat only sugar free or reduced fat foods. That's just me.

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

I am down 88. I lost 50 pre op and 38 since November 8th. I feel good but I guess I thought I would be down more post op. does this seem normal or do you think it's slow?

November Sleevers What Is Your Status

I had my surgery on November 8th. Since the surgery I have lost 37. With pre-op included I am down 87. Does that seem decent? I only ask because my Dr. used the term "pretty good" and it made me paranoid!

    Hunger Pains?

I have the same thing. I am 4 weeks out and all of a sudden I have what I would describe as painful hunger. Like you haven't eaten in days. I don't want o eat, but feel like I have to to gt I'd of this awful gnawing feeling. I was never very hungry prior to surgery - just ate for no reason or any reason. This is weird and disappointing.
  11. Okay, so I am on day 11 of my 28 day pre op diet and (pardon my swearing) the **** is hitting the fan! Yes, I really want this, yes I know the deal with the liver, but no, I have not been perfect. I emailed one of the medical assistants at my surgeon's office who had the sleeve within the last year and all she could say was to get back on track. No admitting she herself struggled or cheated a little. I need someone who gets it! I am HURTING. I literally start hurting in my stomach and shaking. At that point, I have to grab a spoonful of peanut butter to calm my system down. I have 3 small children and I am home alone with them during the day. I simply can't afford to pass out! I really feel like I will. The medical community just says to stick to it but what about when this happens? Someone help please. I have lost 22 pounds already but I need to get to 35. I don't want to mess this up but I don't want to pass out either. This is sucking so bad. I just don't have anywhere to turn and I'm frustrated!!

    Questions

When can you have cheese? What is the difference between puréed foods and just chewing until liquified in your mouth? When can you have sugar free ice cream or frozen yogurt?

    Updates By Nov. 2012 Sleevers

I was sleeved on November 8th. I'm doing good, I guess. Still on thin liquids. Jello, Protein shakes (yuck), Water, crystal light, and broth. Today I am hungry! I want to eat a ham and cheese sub. I have no idea why. I am having one of those days where I miss my old lifestyle. I miss eating and watching a good movie on tv! I'm so bored lately! So much of my life was eating. Now I don't know what to do/dont want to do anything. I'm happy with my weight loss. 55 pounds since pre op October 4th. I feel great. Just missing food. It takes me forever to eat jello even! I can't wait until it gets better/easier. Thanksgiving is going to suck this year.
  14. Okay, so maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but I was sleeved one week ago tomorrow. Apart from losing the four pounds I gained in the hospital, I have lost......wait for it........1POUND! Am I doing this wrong? I'm working hard on my protein and staying hydrated. I'm walking 15 to 20 minutes a day. Help! I lost 50 pre op. but only one pound post.

289 Lbs To Go. Is It Even Possible?!

I was 426 and 5 days post op I am now 375. I lost almost all of that pre op on my surgeon's required liquid diet. You may have to do a longer pre op diet to get to a safer BMI. they typically want you to lose 10% of your body weight if your BMI is over 60. I did it for a month. It sucked, but you can do it. I had a very safe uneventful surgery and my surgeon said the weight loss really helped shrink my liver. My advice to you would be to get started now. Do some protein shakes and high protein low fat meals. It will help you adjust. Every surgeon is different. Mine required me to do the OptiFast program for a month. It was not fun. Just be prepared. But, you certainly aren't too big. You just may have a longer pre op road than others.

Pre Op Diet Vent. Perfect Dieters Need Not Respond!

I had a few slip ups and a few guilty pleasures (a tiny strip of pepperoni French bread pizza). I still managed to lose 45 pounds and surgery went off without a hitch! Don't get down on yourself. Each day is a new start! You can do this!

    Last Week Sleevers..lets Chat..

Feeling good. Sleeved on the 8th. No nausea/vomiting. Just gassy. Gas x helps. Just drinking and walking. So glad it's over. Not hungry at all. Not even thinking about food. So happy about that!

    She's Baaaaaack (From Surgery--Lol)!

Thanks for sharing. I had no vomiting. That must have been awful! My worst problem was gas pain the first day. Haven't had any nausea. All in all, pretty uneventful.

    Last Week Sleevers..lets Chat..

Feeling good, pretty sore. Up and walking. Sipping about 2 ounces of clear fluids and protein shakes every fifteen minutes. Ready for the pain/gassiness to be gone though.

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

I was sleeved on the 8th. Doing great! Not one bit hungry. Walking all around the house.
  21. Lost them at birth 12 years ago today. The weight just poured on. I miss them everyday. Please say a prayer for me today. I am 3 days post op and still grieving for my baby angels. Being in the hospital at this same time of year was tough. Please pray for me. My heart aches today.
  22. IS it normal to have pain/pressure when sipping on fluids? This is so new to me.
  23. Sharonisshrinking

    Sleeved Two Days Ago And.....

It doesn't really hurt, just some pressure and gas. I guess that is normal.
