It sounds like everyone is doing really awesome. To answer your vitamin question- I take 1 multivitamin twice a day and 1 500mg calcium citrate three times a day when I'm behaving myself. They are all chewable, and are bariatric advantage brand.

Hey nov 19th girls! How is everyone making out?!? I hope well. I am doing really well and am so so happy that I made this excellent, life-changing decision. Those first couple days post-op, i had my doubts. However, to get on the scale and LOSE weight every time instead of gaining- it is truly a dream come true to me. My highest weight was 296 on november 4th, right before I started my pre-op diet. Today I weighed in at 251. This is the lightest I've been in a while and cant wait to continue to lose. My goal by my 24th bday on June 11th is to be in one-derland! Even 199 will do looking forward to the 6-week post op mark where my surgeon has cleared me to hit the gym for some spinning classes! Ladies- please share where u are and any upcoming goals or other fun things with me

Sarah- how are you doing? You have definately been on my mind! Please update. How is everyone else doing who was sleeved the 19th? I am curious to see how everyone is progressing! As for me, I've been constantly struggling to battle nausea. While awake, I am constantly nauseous. Yesterday, I only got 15 oz of Fluid in and threw up 3 times. I don't have a temp, just the most upset stomach I've ever endured in my life. I contacted my doc, he called in a second med for me to try and get my nausea under control. Today, if i don't improve he wants me back in the hospital

Sarah- I am so sorry that you required a revision. You are most definately in my thoughts and prayers. Please take it easy, get the rest that your body needs and keep us updated. xo

Hope everyone made out okay. I've had a really Hard time yesterday and today- been non-stop nauseous since surgery. Dry heaving. Gas pains. What have I done

My surgery is at 10 am tomorrow, November 19th. I am in absolute shock/disbelief that the day has finally come! I have some nerves, but more than anything I'm just ready to wake up and start my recovery!! Best wishes to anyone else scheduled for tomorrow

I'll try to tell you what is going to go in my bag and see If that helps you at all. It is 2am, so guys if I miss something important help me out and add it to the forum! Hospital bag goodies: -robe (your nurses will definately want you up and walking to prevent blood clot formation) -slippers with soles (good for the walking, yet again) -hairbrush (the hospital ones are terrible) -Chapstick!!!!!!!!! -toothbrush and toothpaste (hospitals have them but they're not very nice usually) -I'm bringing my own pillow and blanket from home for comfort. The hospital pillows are usually "plastic" so they can be cleansed and reused and that just isn't comfortable.....also your favorite blanket from home is just way more inviting! -phone charger (you know a million people will be checking on your progress!) -Comfortable clothes to go home in the next day (a lot of people just wear the same ones that they wore to the hospital before surgery since they're only on for a short period of time) -a little compact mirror so I can quickly check that i am looking decent for visitors Another tip- dont overpack! You will be exhausted from surgery/anesthesia/pain meds- so think comfort items! Hospitals will have some supplies that you'll need...ask them for a "hug-me" pillow, they'll provide you with plenty of mouth swabs so that you can wet (and not swallow, lol) your oral cavity because you will be very dry after anesthesia. I wish a safe surgery and speedy recovery!!! Can you all believe our day is tomorrow?!?!?

So glad to hear from another November 19th sleeve sister! A ten pound loss is great congrats. Can't wait to hear more from you post-op!!!!

You go girl, 3 pound loss in a day is great! I am feeling great! As I posted in some other forums, I really struggled with the first couple days of my 15 day pre-op diet. I was downright miserable! But, November 4th (the first day of the diet) seems so long ago now! I just stepped on the scale and I've lost 20 pounds on my pre-op diet!!!!!!! I am so excited, that is more than I ever hoped for. I bought a journal last night for myself because I always want to remember everything about this experience, because I know it's going to help me feel like the vibrant active 23 year old I should be Let me know what it's like in Mexico. How long will your flight be? Btw, I live in NJ, USA and it Is my ultimate life dream to travel to Ireland. Keep in touch, let's support each other through this transition

Hi sarah! So excited for us that surgery is so close now. Don't take ANY medication unless approved by your doctor. They tell you to stop taking aspirin before surgery related to the risk of increased bleeding because aspirin has an anti-coagulating effect to blood. Take this instruction seriously. I think your best bet will be to stay as active as possible in your time post-op and to ask your surgeon for tips before your flight home. Are You at all anxious about surgery? I truly commend you for going to Mexico for surgery because that "unknown" factor must be challenging. Its really impressive to see someone want something so badly that they work so hard to make it happen, even in a different country. You go girl! We just have a couple days left now cant wait to hear how you make out!

Yay for you! I wish u a safe and seamless surgery and a speey recovery!

Surgery Monday And The Only Thing On My Stomach Is Butterflies!
nursemeg89 replied to WorkingToGetHealthy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Working to Get Healthy: I think that the feelings you're experiencing are completely normal, the first day of my pre-op diet I was an emotional wreck. I can't speak for you, but for me the more overweight I became the more food/eating became my hobby, my friend, my support system. It's hard to admit that all now, but I think it's normal to grieve a change in that relationship. As my pre-op diet progressed, (I'm on day five now), I started to function more normally and feel more like myself! I hope the same has gone for you, those first couple days were really difficult! I can share some things that I did that have helped me feel better and got me even more excited about surgery: -I took "before" photos, once I uploaded them from my camera to my computer I found myself questioning- How did I get this big? Is that REALLY how I look? I can't wait to take some better post-op pictures!!! -I committed to myself that I would start doing something that I love again once I've hit my weight loss goal. Horseback riding, it was my passion growing up and I would love to get back into it! -I've really enjoyed looking up recipes that will be good choices post-operatively. Yesterday when I went to my required pre-op surgery class, one of the speakers provided us with a lsit of books that we might want to purchase for advice/recipes. She said that one of her favorites was 1: The complete idiots guide to eating well after weight loss surgery by Margaret Furtado, Joseph Ewing ISBN: 978-1-59257-951-8 (I am planning on purchasing the book!) I hope some of my suggestions will help you and I wish you the best of luck -
Hi everyone! I am on day 4 out of 15 in my pre-op diet phase and am feeling really excited and ready for my big day on November 19th. Today I attended a bariatric surgery class which was one of my requirements before having surgery. The program coordinator/NUT discussed in detail the post-op diet. I was wondering...what were everyone's "go-to" healthful foods that you chose for each stage post-operatively. I was hoping we could break the "go-to foods" down into categories: -Stage One- Clear Liquids -Stage Two- Full Liquids -Stage Three- Puree -Stage Four- Soft Diet I am looking for some out of the box suggestions!!!! Thank you. :)nursemeg

Congrats Chris! I am glad to hear that everything is going well. To make everyone feel more at ease about the PACU (post anesthesia recovery room), as a nurse I can tell you that they have seen and handled it all! The nurses who work in PACUs expect a high amount of patients to wake up crazy emotional/angry/nauseous/in pain and they will use every medication they have on board to make us comfortable! I woke from my first surgical experience (when I had my gallbladder removed) hysterically crying and so embarrassed because ugh! I work with the people I was acting insane in front of. However, they helped me collect myself and never acted unprofessional don't worry about the recovery room, focus on recovery!!! -
