Oh,no! I'm 517 pounds.....
SusieK710 replied to gmanbat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gotta love nerds -
She offered you a standard american lunch. Standard overweight american lunch. The typical skinny person can eat that much if they want. We can't. Until they've been in our shoes they won't get it. I was sleeved 6 weeks ago. Hubby has told me to stop going to the grocery store. I keep buying the quantity we would have eaten prior (albeit healthier). Our fridge is bursting. If we are a little slow, others will be even slower with understanding. Most friends are indeed friends!!

Praying for you now! Hope it all goes well!

Some people have to take other people down to feel superior but in reality, they are just little people. And not in a good way!

If you'd like to be matched with someone like you, give us your statistics. Age, weight, height, medical diagnoises, location etc.

Completed week one! May need to repeat week one next week, hips don't want to loosen up to jog. But 13 minutes on the treadmill is a goal in itself!

UTI = No weight loss
SusieK710 replied to SimplyFAB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kidneys are filters, if they are inflamed , they don't work as well so you are probably holding fluid. After surgery, we aren't drinking much so the body knows to hold onto the fluid it has. The bladder doesnt empty as often so germs grow freely. Once we are well hydrated, body says ok now pee. Fun fluid facts! -
What to Wear there ?

Yoga pants with flip over waist, I flipped it up after for gentle pressure! Snug tank top without elastic under breast (incision there). Loose top. Slip on clogs. -

SusieK710 replied to Cookiemonster73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband went to our family doctor for a recheck after two months, the doc was so proud of him for losing 10 pounds (now 185). Doc doesn't know yet that I was sleeved 4 weeks ago. How can it be that I've lots 20 and he's lost 10! I think those should be my 10 too! The hubby swiped my weight loss! ; ) -
Doctor gave me Anti-Nausea med to take 3hrs before surgery.. anyone know if this helps?
SusieK710 replied to Karishero's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does! If it is the emend, it is a new favorite for chemotherapy patients. I always vomit after surgery, not this time! Hope it works as well for you. -

SusieK710 replied to partofme!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dinner tonight was a little crab, a few sections of grapefruit (pithy cover removed) and thousand island dressing. Lunch was ground chicken with refried beans and cheese. I haven't done well with regular dense protein. Softer and finer the better. -

Gave up most of my stomach about 40 days ago. Now its time to give up another weakness, the couch. Started "Couch to 5K". Lord knows I'll need divine help with that! -
I'm in! I had printed the plan off of pinterst and had it taped to the treadmill. I'm almost 6 weeks out so have docs ok to really exercise. Just did day 1! Wanted an exercise top with compression to feel more secure. Did it with an empty stomach, water earlier. Drinking premier protein shake now! Accountability may be just what I need! Great idea!

Have never taken a PPI, have I done anything bad to my sleeve?
SusieK710 replied to mikeross's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor has had patients develop ulcers, from the excess acid, on the suture line, if they don't take acid reducers the first 6 months. They bleed like mad and can get people in ICU within an hour of symptoms. Cheap way to keep on healing. -
Do you bruise easily now?
SusieK710 replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They need to get a complete blood count to check your platelets (helps clot blood) and see if you are anemic. Please keep updating! -
Almost 5 weeks out, doing fine. Listening to my body and following doctors orders!

just when I thought I was ready...

They may add a treadmill stress test to see how your heart reacts to stressors (surgery). Better to know ahead than hangout in ICU. I hate last minute junk, bless you -
Try and be on your feet after eating. Gravity helps the stomach drain. If I sit, I feel full and gaggy!

Nexium is a PPI, proton pump inhibitor. We are to take it to reduce stomach acid so our incisions heal. One study has shown risk of bone fractures for people who have taken it long term.

My guess is that you are the one with the loving, generous heart. Continue to be that person! Now is the time to center yourself. Let the petty people be petty. Focus on the joy of your fresh start and spend your time with those who bring out the best in you!
