Seriously? One week diet and I haven't stuck to anything .
SusieK710 replied to pixigrl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pre-op diet is rehab!! It was the hardest part for me. Keep busy getting the house ready prior to surgery, make sleeve friendly freezer food, buy Gas X, start a great book, watch a great movie, walk. Read this forum alot so you are ready for all the variety of issues someone could have. Sugarfree popsicles, sugar free hot cider and chicken broth are usually legal. Pinterest your new clothes and house/garden things you'd love to do this summer. You will be so glad you went thru the carb deprivation prior to surgery, certainly don't want to mix that with surgery recovery. Bless you! -
Big pot of water on the stove to humidify the air. Warm liquids like decaf tea and sugarfree cider or just warm water to drink to loosen everything up and make coughing easier. Try a pillow against your tiny tummy when you cough. Bless you.

All docs are required to have someone cover their patients while they are out or it's considered abandonment. ER is a great second choice, try to go to the one who did your surgery or one with a bariatric surgeon (unless truly emergent). Body's can freak out after surgery, could be anything from heart to blood clots to the lung. Even getting better acid suppression or antispasmodic meds would help. It's not normal to have that much pain that far out of surgery. Let us know how it goes.

What I find amazing is that the news is saying nothing about the problems! Increasing food costs, layoffs, downsizing, closing businesses. The US has lost any sense of reality...

Until you are able to get your daily protein in, plus protein additional for running, you would be reducing muscle mass. Plus healing time from surgery, check with your doc. Most say walking is ok but nothing strenuous for 6 weeks. Good luck!

Thank for the information on form BB. If you have any other good resources for us beginners, I would so appreciate them. Great to have friends!

After all the posts of not losing fast enough, I started questioning my loss of almost 25 pounds in almost 8 weeks with a starting BMI of 35. So I did the math. Each pound represents 1.43% of my goal, times 25 pounds, means I've lost 35% of my excess weight! I like that!

My NUT said no membrane. Love my crab with jarred grapefruit and thousand island salad dressing on the side! I'm also 7 weeks but have had this for 3 weeks with no problems.

Check blood pressure and blood sugar at home. Meds will need adjusting at you lose.

40 French bougie has the lowest leak rate, that is what my surgeon standardly uses. Postop was smooth, no vomiting, no dehydration, sliming only if I don't do as I should. There are good things that the stomach produces that we need to absorb vitamins so this seemed to be a great balance to me. Definitely don't want to look like the pale and weak bypass patients with malabsorption.

Q for Veterans: increasing stomach pains @ 2.5 months

Ulcers present with gnawing pain between meals...when they get deep enough, bleed like mad. Check with the surgeon, especially if you've taken any aspirin, alive or ibuprofen. -
Love the little chinese bowls and tea cups for portion control.

At my psych eval, he said those who suceed with weightloss surgery, past the first year, have developed an excersice component. So bought a nice (not the cheapest or most expensive) treadmill the week before surgery. Walked a little during the 6 weeks recovery. PA said to bust loose with exercise after that! Had taped the C25K calendar (off of pinterest) to the treadmill. Perfect timing when Dean posted! Too much of an introvert to run outside yet. I am still awkward so repeating the first week! Everyday is better and stronger, what more could I wish for!

Love this recipe, use chicken thighs instead of turkey! The green chilies make it! Much better than red chili! Add a little pepper jack shredded on top! http://www.williams-...rkey-chili.html

Sad and Seeking Words of Wisdom

Since your physician is out of country, find a local dietician and/or counselor to help. Eat the densest food you can so it triggers your sleeve that you are full. Bless you. -

I'm with you, sounds like no fun. But studies show those who have a routine for eating have less weight problems that those who use make what sounds good for dinner. Food-ertainment it's been dubbed.

I am deeply greatful for the lifting of the weight of feeling unnaccepted just for being over weight. I love the weight loss for the ease and freedom it gives my body. The inward joy of passing by the XL's sales racks today and "needing" to find mediums for the future! I smiled inside all day!

4 hours with a mountain pass! Very worth the trip for the quality people! We chose to stay in town 2 nights after I got out. Not sure if that makes me a pessimist or realist! -
White bean chicken chili with green chilies. Mmmmm

It's still all about choices! What's for lunch?
SusieK710 replied to NtvTxn's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
A few ounces of crab, a few sections of grapefruit and a touch of thousand island on a little spring mix salad.
