  1. The supplemental insurance was associated with the bariatric surgeon. It is actually insurance on his work. They only offer it to afew physicians with great track records for few complications. I used Blis Insurance, out of Oregon. They have a list of physicains that they cover. A $2000 for 3 months, problems usually start in that time frame. If problems start, they cover it until healed. I would not risk my families future otherwise.
  2. Self pay and a supplemental insurance! Over 3 months out. BMI 35 starting. Down 40 pounds. Looked a pictures from a wedding last fall. Soo very greatful. It's taking the bull by the horns, so be ready for a ride! If your child or spouse needed the surgery, would you pay for it?

    Nosey folks!

My coworkers know since its a small department of nurses. A casual friend remarked today on the weight loss and asked, " I'm wrestling the beast" i told her and laughed. Then asked about her.

    Vet's Forum

Sounds like some people want a maintenance forum. I'm in limbo, bored by the post-op forum and not a vet.

    Eating out.

We get creative! DH and I went to a neighbors party 3 weeks post op. host asked which wine I wanted, so I picked my favorite. Played with it for an hour, but didnt drink any, then when DH finished his, then we swapped glasses and I played with the empty one!

    Autoimmune Issues and VSG?

Yes, on Humira. I was told to stop two weeks prior and resume two weeks after although I stopped a few days early and didn't resume until 4 weeks so I could get maximum healing.

    Autoimmune Issues and VSG?

Oh! I forgot to mention, I felt great for 4 weeks after surgery! Went into total remission. I imagine my over active immune system finally had thing to do other than mess with the RA. It was wonderful!

    Autoimmune Issues and VSG?

I've had Rheumatoid Arthritits for 10 years. Coming up on 3 months post VSG. It's a mixed bag. I move easier, more limber and flexible. Not exhaused at the end of a day of working, but tired. Joint pain and fatigue are still an issue. I'd say 25% better. I'm only half way to goal so we will see if the next 30-40 pounds gives me less symptoms. My reasoning for the sleeve was endurance not relief...

Relationhip with dh is different now

Take a girlfriend out for decaf coffee! They roll with all the variety of things in our heads! Or write it out (then burn it, hide it or frame it!) Make a list. Basically get it out. We've "cut out" our bury it/stuff it coping tool. Bless you!

    Every damn morning!

Put a 2x4 under the box spring at the head of your bed. Cut it to width of your bed. Gravity will help keep fluids going down hill!

    Help

Visualize yourself, in detail, in 12 months after the sleeve, for 5 minutes. Then visualize yourself in 12 months, without the sleeve. Use your head as well as your heart. Peace to you, which ever you decide.
  20. All of this is pretty traumatic, how is she doing emotionally?

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

Hi all. Eastern Washington GI nurse. Sleeved January 7th. Got RA 10 years ago and added afew pounds every year. Very tired after work, so knew I couldn't change my RA or my age (49) but I could change my weight (God help me). Went to look into lapband in Seattle and found out about the sleeve. Insurance wouldn't cover any weightloss surgery. DH asked how much it would cost, then said "We could do that". Best gift ever. 10 weeks and 30 pounds later. The hardest decision was whether to tell work. Small department so I told them. They have been curious and supportive. Hopefully this will give me years more to do what I love!!

Damn I don't know what to do!

I remember sitting in the hospital bed smiling, thinking "oh my gosh, I did it" It's jumping off the high dive! Exilerating. I did put mine on hold prior to try dieting one more time... Love my sleeve. 9 weeks out.
