Why Don't I Just Tell People I Had Sleeve Surgery
The Big Dog posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder if others didn't tell everyone the whole truth. I told people I was going to have surgery but changed the subject when asked what it was. I think it is obvious now as I have lost 40# in 3 weeks. My boss (kinda a jerk, health nut, thinks he can save all us fat people) says I should share with our group and let them know about my journey. This is the same guy who called me into a stategy seesion early to tell me that he was concerned with my health and that I should do something about it....but not to let it impact my performance as I was critical to the company. To clarify I work in construction so it is not one of those touchy feely jobs where we all get together and sing.......... I really haven't told alot of people about the surgery as I guess I am ashamed in some ways that I couldn't do it on my own. I realize I have no reason to hang my head or hide anything as i took a bold step to get surgery and start my new life. I think that people percieve it as some sort of an easy ways out.....(screw those who think that). I instead think that I took a huge step or jumped off the cliff, drew a line in the sand (pick your favorite) and said enough was enough I have to get me right and healty to be around. I wonder about others opinions on this and if others have done the same as me. I am able to think so clear now that I am geting over the "food addiction" and the Diet Coke high. -
Why Don't I Just Tell People I Had Sleeve Surgery

Like Tap said I thought it was ironic that when I told heavier people they were critical of it. I think now it is because people are afraid that if I took the step to have surgery and they are in my circle (work, friend or church) that others would expect them to do so. I can't even count how many times someone, some random ass would make a comment to me about my weight. People I didn't even know. Things like "you should really lose some weight I just thought I would let you know........" or you know that your weight is going to cause you to get diabetis and loose your legs.......... Ignorance is what makes it hard to tell people. lovex5 I work directly for our CEO so I kept it cool. I more or less said thanks for your concern......I give him credit he has been supportive of me post surgery.....we will see if he is less of an ass as I get thinner....I think he has a problem with overweight people. Which sucks for him cause he could stand to gain a few pounds and loose his ahole tendancies.... -
Excessive Dry Mouth...w Cpap..
The Big Dog replied to Patrick Curl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this also, it is because your mouth is open. I am assuming you are using nasal pillows or a nose mask. Last night I broke the cycle and I used the chin strap to keep my mouth shut....No dry mouth this morning. The chin strap is like a big ace bandage that does around your chin and over your head. -
I Find That I Get Lightheaded When I Go To The Grocery Store.
The Big Dog posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I would write to share an experiance I have been having. I find that I have gone to the store a few times since surgery and get lightheaded/head ache in the store. I spoke to the Dr about is and also the pshy. The shrink laughed and said that it is a reaction based off of how I used to shop. Anything and everything I wanted went in the cart and I would eat and eat till I had satisfied any craving I had or I developed while in the store. I would sometimes have a 8 course meal to accomplish all of the things I bought. 1st chips and dip, then a little potatoe salad you ge the idea. What I find the last few times is that I am spending a higher dollar for food and buying a lot less. Perhaps because I am buying in the early stages but none the less. I went to a restaurant for my sisters B-day last week and ate the broth off of a bowl of Soup and found that I did not have the same reaction at the restaurant, I was fine. Except for the onion rings and patty melt my sister ate...b***h! (Kidding) Well I thought I would share this and see if anyone else has had a similar experiance and what they did about it. -
This is often a topic of discussion. I have not had any issues drinking volumes larger than my stomach. It just passes thru. Others in our group have a hard time. I would sip sip sip 1st and see how you feel. It is not uncommon to not feel restriction. Just don't guzzle as it still needs to work thru your stomach.

More Acid Production Ober The Last Few Days.
The Big Dog replied to Ready4success's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Often the inert ingredients are different from one brand to another. Sometimes they are corn based, wheat based or other things like glycerine. I wonder if you are having a reaction to one of the inert ingredients? As a side bar to that comment if you Dr will write you a script for it you can get 30 days from Walgreens for like $4. It was a lot cheaper than OTC. -
Things Are Going To Well Am I Missing Something
The Big Dog posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little worried for maybe a wrong reason. I am drinking large amounts without issues. If I eat cream Soup I can feel it. I eat sugar free Popsicles like crazy. Today 9 days post surgery I drank V8 low sodium with some pickle juice mixed in then a shot of Tabasco............am I a freak or am I missing something that my be wrong or could I be damaging my body. No real pain just fullness with soup or carnation ib.
