I agree with Wags. Do what is going to stay with you forever. I'm not a big exerciser, but I do walk many miles a day, plus bike a couple times a week. that's something I know I'll be doing for my health the rest of my life. I'm losing.. Slow, but getting closer to goal and will be healthy when I get there. And very happy

Anyone hear about a Mexico Bariatric Center patient passing away this weekend?
Ms.AntiBand replied to Michele in NY's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
What.. You don't think it's swept under the rug here in the states? Think again. because of the laws and malpractice hush hush here in the states part of the settlements are that patients aren't allowed to tell all. In Mexico ..if you want to know something it's just a matter of digging and in depth research. You can call any of the hospitals and ask for info (short of patients name) and they will tell you. Including why or if a particular dr is no longer permitted to practice at a facility. And whatever you do.. Don't call a coordinator/center for info.. They are there to sell you on theirs only and won't include the truth, and they will exclude the facts of any death or issues their company has. It doesn't take a nuclear scientist to find an excellent surgeon in MX, but it does take some work. If you're searching here in the states.. You won't EVER get stats on your surgeon in regards to deaths or leaks. They don't have to tell you anything. The MX surgeons tell you everything because most have excellent records and are very proud. -

No one is sweeping anything under a rug. Perhaps you should present full facts of all you're referring to. As multiple deaths in so many months.. Where do you get this information and so on? You're not of any help if you can't back your words up with some type of additional info/facts etc. All deaths are very sad indeed and my thoughts go out to the families of everyone. And yes, it happens here in the states as often, if not more, so please don't go bashing some dr unless you can provide a lot of info to back it up. Scare tactics are of no help at all -
Can I ask why they're not repairing the leak?

Feeling "hunger" - is it really gone?
Ms.AntiBand replied to kathp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's a lot to do with the ol' noggin. I'm 7+ months out and starting to think I'm hungry, but I'm probably really not. I know. Need to reset ,y mind... And SOON! -
Depending on your dr/nut instruction.. But I never stopped drinking caffeinated coffee (black w/sf torani flavoring)

Having a drain is a very important precaution that I'm glad my surgeon uses. It measures internal bleeding and other issues. I didn't even know I had one until I got up to pee and walk. No discomfort what so ever. You can't shop for level of pain and discomfort. I had a totally paid free recovery, but that doesn't mean the next patient did. Sometimes its a hit or miss. Good luck

Sheesh.. What a question and dilemma. My daughters, who are olderthan yours, let me do the surgery first so they could watch and learn from me. We all had/have the lapband and we didn't want to experience a failed wls again so they're letting me be the guinea pig. I'm happy to do so and be the example of how well it can go. Of course they're surgery and recovery may not be a easy as mine, but the journey can be. It's not always easy and as a matter of fact, if your frame of mind isn't set right you're most likely to fail. My mind set is not a diet it's eat right and be active. It will be a part of my life forever I have done everything in my power to show them that my lifestyle has changed in order to succeed and maintain a healthy weight. Maybe .. They're my true inspiration because I want them to be as happy and successful and healthy as I am again. I know how much you want your daughter to be happy.. Trust me, I do. But, I can't advise you on what you asked. Because I don't know the answers. Its heartbreaking having to watch our child emotionally hurt. All I know is, if it was 15 years ago I would be in the same situation with my girls and I would probably do what im doing now and have the surgery first and go from there. Good luck and I pray for your guidance.

Addicted to "weight loss praise"
Ms.AntiBand replied to DougNichols's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lol.. No one ever says anything to me because I'm such a yoyo'er that they get tired of my dieting so.. They ignore my weight loss. I'm not good with compliments so it's all good -
I get buzzed faster just because it's been so long since I've drank like a lush.

Can't say I even desire eating pizza. maybe the cauliflower crust one when I get to goal. It's probably best to avoid such high calorie filled foods until you are in maintenance stage or you're going to defeat the purpose having VSG. Think healthy. So.... No, in my book it's not normal to eat an entire slice.. Whether you can.. I guess that's up to you

I had a glass after a few months and was fine. I stay away from it until I'm at goal so not to slow my already slow weight loss.

Im a firm believer that in order to vomit with the sleeve you're doing something wrong. Learn the no's of your particular sleeve and the vomiting should not happen. Sometimes it's a hit and miss until you know everything, but it's not normal to vomit with the sleeve.

My Primary Doctor was PISSED
Ms.AntiBand replied to pumpkin07's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would never trust a dr who recommends the lapband. Complication rates are highest with the band and sure it's temporary.. Just as the weight loss is temporary too. Your doc is very WLS naive. -
I'll eat some cheater food and then think "wait, what did I just eat?" oblivious to even putting in my mouth. I need something like the invisible fence shock that will make me aware of something off limits coming near my mouth

I'm 7 mos out and would never dream of eating more than a little bit at a meal. This is why I had the surgery and love it. Actually, the new small amount you will be eating (less than a cup) is NORMAL for a human. We are so conditioned to over eat that we no longer know what a normal serving is. I'm so glad I can no eat and LOOK like a pig.

Most all the facilities in MX have sleeper beds and bedding for your companion.

Two nights in hospital and one required in hotel, but we stayed longer because we were having so much fun.

I find that fear is somewhat helpful. Just a LITTLE fear will sometimes help you keep or get back on track. I refuse to let myself fail.. I can't fail. This is it for me and I refuse to go back to what I was. I have a goal.. A mission to be in the best health ever. And becoming thinner is icing on the cake.

This is not a leak in her incision site. She's hospitalized due to a leak in her staple line of her sleeve. This is an extremely serious issue and can not be left alone OP.. Prayers and thoughts your way.. Hang in there!

Self pay sleevers: BMI of 30 or close
Ms.AntiBand replied to Tripletmom's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Very true and hopefully they listen to the other side of things. Its an important factor when researching VGS. There are pros and cons in the gamble of having WLS. No one knows how things will work out regarding the surgery procedure .. Regardless of BMI. Life is full of difficult choices and people have a million reasons why they choose what they do. All I know is fat is fat and unhealthy is unhealthy and unhappy is unhappy and we're all after the same goal. -
I seriously can't believe there are still drs out there who prescribe diet pills.. WTH? Where is the data on long term success rate of diet pills... ? There is none because it's a big f'ing FAIL!

Self pay sleevers: BMI of 30 or close
Ms.AntiBand replied to Tripletmom's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I have no regrets what so ever. Never. I don't have a problem eating and most certainly don't have any issue socializing because I'm sleeved. WLS is what you make it and I've made it my lifestyle. My new socializing is just eating like a normal human and not like a pig. No one even knows about my surgery and they don't even notice my smaller portions as being odd. I don't slime, foam or get sweats because I learned right off what I can and cannot do with my sleeve. My hair fell out for a few months, but I was prepared and not shocked. I don't take anymore vitamins than I did pre-op. Life is wonderful.. And my sleeve makes it even better LOVE MY SLEEVE!
