Antidepressants not working after my gastric sleeve surgery
Ms.AntiBand replied to Gracie39's topic in Rants & Raves
I take Effexor HCL 50mg for migraine prevention and have not had any issues. -
Did you keep your surgery a secret?
Ms.AntiBand replied to KanesMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband and adult kids know. One niece- in-law accidentally found out because she's best friends with my daughter and saw a pic. My weight problem is very embarrassing to me and I tend to hide any issues related to it and it's very personal to me who knows -
My husnad didn't want me to do the surgery, but only because of risks. I have a bad history of complications so it was natural for this reaction. Ha also doesn't say much and I think it's because a spouse is in the " damned if I do and damned if I don't" situation. They want to encourage you, but does that mean they don't like the way you are or think you need to lose weigh in their eyes, etc? Sensitive area there! Just recently, I told my husband Ive lost 25 lbs now and I could see the look of entrapment on his face... lol, I bailed him out and changed the subject.

52 and wondering what to expect
Ms.AntiBand replied to KlassyKat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 55 and @ 50 I lost all my weight via lapband and yes there was saggy skin and I anticipate it again, but I'll take saggy skin over being fat any day! Spanx is my new BFF -
I'm in Washingon state, but chose Dr Ponce De Leon in TJ for under $6000 revision. Recommend MX simple for the fact of their vast experience and care. Also, from all the posts I've read it seems like US dr tend to over anesthetize, over gas and over pain-medicate and is tends to lead to longer recovery time.. Just my opinion

pre_op liquid diet. Im starving
Ms.AntiBand replied to Fair2bslimLady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had to do a 3 day yogurt and liquid diet and I thought I was going to die! I can't imagine doing it longer. All I can say is hang in there and good luck! Ugh! Hey.. The good thing is.. It's a lot easier post- surgery when you have no hunger.. What a blessing, I love my new tummy :-) -
My multiple incisions from multiple surgeries healed fine with little scaring.. But, considering I have stretch marks from huge babies I've set my priorities and don't sweat the small things. You're young and probably will hardly notice the scars. They tend to heal as if you were scratched as a kid and that's not bad

I've had 3 10lbs babies.. Scars are the least of my worries!
-
Another cause could be any pain meds will contribute to constipation also.

don't let anyone fool you. recovery is awful.
Ms.AntiBand replied to jujubeesmama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
ABSOLUTELY!?! I most certainly agree! I'm also beginning to think that American drs over medicate, over inflate gases, over anesthetize and over charge. Personally, I would never in my life take Morphine, Demerol and even Vicodin for laparoscopic surgery. Don't get me wrong, I love Morphine, but that was only when I was in a MVA and fractured my sternum and femur and required over 200 staples to put my humpty dumpty body together. (Sheesh.. Talk about a reason some don't have a BM for a week or two.. Get of meds and get things flowing again.) Anyway, pardon me for getting off subject and replying to a response instead. That said..jujubeesmamas.. I'm sorry you're going through this pain and wish you weren't. I must mention that instead of saying, don't let them fool you this surgery is very painful.. Perhaps, you should reword it and say, this surgery CAN BE very painful for some. I didn't have any pain what so ever with any of my 6 laparoscopic WLS procedures. Like Mason and others have said it all depends on the drs and the patient. Good luck and hang in the and YES.. Walk walk walk ASAP . I was up the same day as my surgery. The faster you start to walk off the anesthesia and gases the faster it will go away -
Welcome Brooke! I believe there are probably hundreds on this forum who wish they would have done this @ 19 instead of spending so many years being unhealthy and unhappy. Congrats at prepping yourself for a healthier life

Denied. Service Not Covered.
Ms.AntiBand replied to ArcusX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep.. Know how you feel. My insurance completely excludes ANYTHING to do with WLS. This is the policy our employer contributes towards (along with our $700+ monthly premiums) so thy have the say so. It doesn't matter what insurance co you go through when the employer has the say on the policy. The policy states exclusions and that's the policy bought. I have Blue Cross and vast amt of people on this ovum are being cover through them... Because that's the policy thy have.. But not me. Sucks big time. I went to MX and have for many surgeries and personally if my insurance did pay and would do OOC coverage I would seriously still considering going there. I like my dr and trust him and the hospital and clinic. Good luck and I'm sorry you have to hassle with all this crap.. Been there, done that, at a cost of near 100 grand -
Anyone get a Facial or Peel after surgery?
Ms.AntiBand replied to #Redy4chg.org's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
How are arranging to leave the hospital for the peel? Must be in the same place? They wouldn't let me leave, but I would have the next morning because I felt so wonderful. As soon as my leak test was done I was out and running around.. Shopping and a little Botox and sightseeing nonstop until we flew home. Everyone is different so make sure you can cancel without difficulties if you're not up to it -
5wks PO, and YES I regret
Ms.AntiBand replied to happydaisy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"At this point I really dont care about anything else but feeling normal again." Umm.. Overheating, being fat and unhealthy is not normal. Harsh as it sounds it's the truth. Take it from other and know it will get better. Support groups of many kind are free plus you have all of us. -

5 days postop band to sleeve and have a few questions...
Ms.AntiBand replied to roiansmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YES! Richard you are so right! As much as I didn't want to agree with you, I checked my calcium gummy and they have to go. My multi-gummies are ok though and that's a good thing because that's my Lil' treat plus the multi pills are too ginormous for me to handle twice a day. Thank you for slappin' some sense into me :-) -

Ms.AntiBand replied to *susan*'s topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Great! Although, I hope the veterans still stick around here to help the newly sleeved with their many concerns and issues. -
Omg im so cold!
Ms.AntiBand replied to dreamerfalava's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always ran cold.. Now I'm even colder and never thought I could get any colder. I'm guessing colder is better than too warm though -

Uncomfortablity in Abdomen?
Ms.AntiBand replied to stephhine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone must be different because my SD was Dec 14 and I've been back to work since the 2nd. I haven't had any issue since my surgery. no recoup needed.. I was in heaven and still super optimistic even in this stall Make sure you don't have clothing that is too tight near any sites because this can aggravate things even internally. Maybe get up often and walk as much as possible If no improvement see dr -
Yep.. We pay $700+ in monthly premiums and hat doesn't include what our employer contributes. They refuse to pay for anything related to WLS including to save my life. I HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES.... THEY SUCK!

Senior gal concerned about getting the Sleeve
Ms.AntiBand replied to MarciaM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm a young senior @ 55 and I did it so I could become a older senior without weight related complications and live happier and healthier? Good luck! -
I have never liked cottage cheese, but because of the protein count I forced myself. I add a tad of poppyseed dressing in mine and I love it!

All of my December sleevers...
Ms.AntiBand replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is not a post for to compare ourselves too. People, especially men and women are totally different when it comes to weight loss. I agree with Richard. Remember .. And and important reminder, this is not a race, it's a journey to a healthy lifestyle. James, glad it was quick for you and good luck at continuing your new life style :-) -
