My date is November 6th!! I'm scares and nervous but super excited. I sometimes question whether or not I'm ready for this change.... How should I mentally and physically prepare myself for this life changing event?

I finally have made it to consultation day!!! I find out my surgery date today! I was curious, cam anyone think of any really good questions I should ask? My mind is drawing a blank here. The only question I could think up was a question about my medication, other than that I can't think of anything!

Quitting Smoking While Preparing For Surgery
irish1988 replied to irish1988's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Update: I quit smoking on the 1st of this month, and I have not had a cigarette since! I bought an e-cig and that works fine. I don't even smoke it that much as I used to smoke real cigarettes. So 17 days free of tobacco! -
I am curious if while loosing a tremendous amount of weight will also have you loose fat in your chest? I have a bigger chest size and I want to know if I will be able to loose weight from there during this transformation.

A Question For The Females..

I think that's the part I'm most excited for haha. -
I'm so happy for you! I meet with my surgeon soon to get a surgery date! I'm glad we get second chances! I wish the best for your surgery and recovery!

Tomorrow is my last appointment and then I will have a consultation with the doctor and set a surgery date. I am still nervous and very scared. It doesn't seem real, but I know that when it's really close I am most likely going to start freaking out, haha. I am very excited when I start to think about all the positives in my new life to come. But I am still pretty nervous when the thought of surgery comes up. I think the main reason is because I have never had surgery before and change scares me.

How Do I Stay Positive?
irish1988 replied to irish1988's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for your words. You guys rock. When ever I start to feel nervous or scared, you all seem to know what to say to make me feel calm again. -
In general I usually feel excited. But right now I am feeling quite anxious. Wondering if I am making the right choice, scared of the unknown, and I know the night before surgery and the day of I am going to be having huge panic attacks. Does anyone else feel this way? If so, how do you cope? How do you stay positive and motivated about surgery? How do you make the fear go away? How can I become more strong?

I have my last appointment on Friday and then I can make a consultation with my surgeon and pick a date. I don't know how booked up they are though and so I have no idea when my surgery may be. But hoping soon!
-
Cause if that's the case, I may want to take care of that before surgery.

Is it harder to swallow the non gelcaps because you have to take tiny tiny sips of water?

I hate effexor so much some times, I have been on it for so many years and if I accidentally skip a dose I start to feel really dizzy and lethargic. That's why I wanted to make sure I could take it with the surgery, lol. Cause recovery plus the feeling of a withdrawl from effexor would be terrible!

I am in line to get the sleeve, I actually was signed up for the band and then changed my mind because of all the negativity I have been hearing about it. So I have experienced neither so I don't know how much help I could be, but from what I have heard and read on this site, there are quite a lot of people who have switched from the band to the sleeve and have never regretted that decision. I have heard that if you need to loose 100 pounds or more, the band is not for you. You loose more with the sleeve and from what I have heard, a lot less complications. But then again, everyone is different. I would just talk to people on here, because you aren't the only one facing this choice. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you choose to do.

I am getting more excited and nervous as every day passes. I have not set a date yet though as I still have to go to my last two appointments before I can meet with the surgeon. I hate waiting. My last appointment was on the 3rd of October but the doctor rescheduled to the 5th. Not to bad, but still. I have my stress echo test where they hook me up with some chords and have me do some work on the treadmill. Then I have to go to see a cardiologist just to check out my heart. And I still need to get my blood work done. Then, after that I can FINALLY meet with the surgeon and have a consultation. Hopefully from that point I can set a surgery date. I think the worst test was the sleep apnea test, being hooked up to all those chords and then that sticky crap they leave in your hair. Then there was the EGD where they put you to sleep and stick a camera down your throat to check out your stomach to see if you are capable of having surgery. I was originally going to get the lapband, but I have been hearing so many bad things about it and the sleeve just seems like such a better option. Reading all the success stories and seeing the before and after pictures are really inspiring. So now it's just a waiting game, being patient and some more waiting. I hope that when I have the consultation with the surgeon I don't have to set a date a long time from now. I want to get it down NOW! I want to start my new life! I am ready for this! My size right now is 285 with a waist size of 46 inches. I am excited to watch all these things go down.

Everything You Need To Know About Pre-Op And Post-Op Diet
irish1988 replied to theby_88's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you for posting this!! Quick question though. When it shows the example of the things to eat during the day, like how it says breakfast, protein shake and then below that it says 16oz crystal light, is that like, to have between meals? Or is that just the option asides from the protein shake? -
Best of luck to ya! Let us know how it goes!

That's makes me excited to hear! Mine hurt my back like crazy! -
I am new here and nervous! I've heard lots of positive things about the sleeve and negative things. I feel anxious. I am looking for a buddy to talk to who has perhaps already had this surgery done on them.
