Like everyone has said, chew chew chew! small bites and chew until it's practically mush. My doctor said that if I experience some of the things you described to go back to my liquids 100oz of water 80 grams of protein.. once you can do that per day, try solids again. Just a suggestion on my part.

Miss guzzling down ice cold water. I miss being able to have ice cold liquids go down my throat. I am doing ok keeping fluids down, my back is in some pain and I get up and walk around after drinking my fluids. To whomever is post op please give me guidance to a speedy recovery!

So I am a smoker and have been for awhile. I know it is a terrible terrible addiction and has no place in my new transition in life. I guess the reason I am posting this, is did anyone else have to quit smoking right before surgery? I have "quit" before and went as long as a month, but to get there was hard.. and doing all that while preparing for surgery and then after when I am healing.. I feel like this may be a long journey for me but I know it's what I have to do, so has anyone else had to do this? Any tips or pointers for me? Could use all the advice you guys have to offer. I am dreading giving up smoking, but at the same time know it has to be done and is completely necessary. Plus if I am going through all of this for my health, then it would only make since do quit for my health as well. Plus I heard the sleeve may not heal right if I continue to smoke. So I need to quit and soon. I am scared and nervous because it has such a grip on me! I want to be free from it!

I am so confused! Well not neccessarily confused, just a lot of information and when it comes to these things I just go crazy! I was given a list of things that I can eat what I can start eating once I am at my liquid intake goals and such. I don't even know what to go out and buy! What would be a simple list to start off with?? My surgery is November 6th and I don't know what to stalk up on.. little help please?

Have you been using anything specific to help with gas pain that has worked?

How has recovery been? I don't feel nervous about my surgery this Tuesday, but I feel like Monday night and Tuesday morning I may be feeling very different than I do now.

I was talking to my NUT yesterday and this actually came up in the conversation. She said to get Fiber One Origional Cereal. Crush in a baggie into powder form and add to any liquids/soft solids. Now if you decide to go with a different fiber, make sure it is not an expansive fiber.. You should avoid those for about 3 weeks post op. But anyway that is what I would try if I were you.

My surgery is. Coming up fast, November 6th actually... What are some things I should bring with me to the hospital to make recovery more easy.

Ten days until my surgery. I am so super excited and I can't wait for this! I think waiting is the worst part, knowing how much better life is going to be, I want it now! Apart of me is still very nervous though as well. The 31st my four hour pre op appointment. How did post ops deal with their anxieties before surgery?

I just can't believe she told you what you do and don't have time for. That is none of her business.. You should try to speak to someone else in that office.. I mean, there has got to be somebody else to talk too.... I would have told her off.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Is there anyone else you cam talk to besides that nurse? Check your city to see if there are other bariatric doctors in the area. Go get a second opinion. I hope it all works out for you. Keep us posted.

I hear ya there. My surgery is November 6th and i'm nervous and scared as well. Just keep trying to think about all the positives. How much better life will be, all that once used to stop us won't be able to anymore.
