Getting Sleeved Tomorrow! 11/13!

Good Luck! -
I just love this quote I found on a website: "Weight Loss Surgery is not a DO-OVER (repeat same mistakes = get a similar outcome.) Weight Loss Surgery is a DO-BETTER (make lifestyle changes you can continue forever.)" Here is the website: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com (She has some great recipes). My surgery will probably be in February 2013.

Good luck to all of you. May you all have a smooth recovery. I too have done my share of going back and forth on going through with this. Once I get my official surgery date I think I'll feel better (right?). I just try not to spend to much time in my head. I know that I need to do this.

Selfish Discouraging Friends :(
DayByDay replied to Mz.Smurf's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry to hear this. I just don't get people. I take such joy in seeing other people succeed. My first major attempt to lose weight I lost 90lbs. Some people were great, but others would make the rudest comments. (A reason why I am keeping my surgery a secret, its not shame I just don't need that negative feedback.) Don't let other people take away your joy. Be happy for yourself. -
Tempted To Diet To Lose More Pre-Op
DayByDay commented on TwinsMama's blog entry in Learning to be a Type A-
Good for you. The more you lose now the less you have to lose later. I have also set some goals for myself. I'd like to lose about 23lbs that would put me down about 53 pounds before surgery. Just two difficult months to get through. My surgery will probably be in February. Just checked the last item off my todo list so now I just need to get a firm date. I also worry about doing the surgery and not make my goal or able to maintain. My fav quote, "At any given moment you have the power to say: this is NOT how the story is going to end." - Egg Face -

The End Of The Beginning
DayByDay replied to reikiwoman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, so no surgery date yet. I have my psych eval on Monday. That is the last thing I need to do. I'm self pay so I don't have any insurance hoops to jump through. I'm hopping to have my surgery in February. I started the process back in July. Because of a new job I'm trying to build up as much vacation time as I can by February. Since I had so much time to kill before surgery, I've been trying to form as many good habits as I can before surgery. Keeping in mind the more I loose now the less I have to loose later. Just need a few more bad habits to tackle. Anyway, that's my story. Hope I wasn't too long winded. -
The End Of The Beginning

You can do this. Think of every pound you lose now, is one less pound you will need to lose after surgery! -
Amazing! Congratulations. I hope to have the same outcome.

I used to run/jog about 25 miles a week. It took me about a month to build up to that level. My recommendation is get a great pair of running shoes. If you have wide feet (like I do), I found Asics is the best brand. Road Runner Sports is a great site. They used to have a guide that helped you select the type of shoe you needed. Another tip, is to get socks that wick away the moisture, this helps with blisters. As far as the aches a pains, I just kept pushing through the pain. Once I got great shoes the pain eased. What helped me the most was stretching, stretching, and more stretching. Seems like a pain, but I stretched a half house before and after my runs. I worked wonders for me. I did not worry about distance, just duration. Once I could run for an hour straight, then I focused on distance. (that was advise I got from a marathon runner.) Can't wait until I can get back to running. Such a great stress buster. Happy Running!

Only 2 More Days... Will I Make It?
DayByDay replied to imlosingit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do this, its just two days. Surf the net a look at all the tiny clothes you will be able to fit into. It is amazing how lost you can get just window shopping. Read some inspirational stories posted on this site. -
Didnt Do Endoscopy!

EKG, full blood panel, Psych eval, and nutrition class -
I think it is about being mindful on what you eat and how you eat. My surgery wont be until February. So I started concentrating on what I eat now. Focus on good lean Protein. No snacking. Limit my sugar intake. Small meals every 3-4 hours. Keeping calories low. Taking Vitamins. I also monitor my self-talk, meaning that when I go out to eat, I don't tell myself, "just this one last time, I'll have (insert a high fat or high calorie food)." Just need to get better at Water consumption and exercise. Hopefully by the time I have my surgery my habits will be in place. As a bonus I am loosing weight. But for me it is always about being mindful of everything I put in my mouth. Good luck.

Anyone Else Have A Goal Size?
DayByDay replied to SexySlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope to get down to a 10, but an 8 would be awesome! -
I would get an second opinion. The doctor who will do my surgery mentioned no limit for BMIs. The only thing he told me was that a BMI of 50 and over will have to be done at the hospital and not the surgical center. If I remember what I had read about the sleeve, is that for people who have very high BMIs, the sleeve is a two step process. So sleeve first to loose weight and then do the bypass surgery. So I think your NUT is really a NUT. Keep trying. Don't give up. By the way, she should be there to help you, not tear you down. Take care.

I bake mine. Try lemon or light mayo to moisten.
