Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!
DayByDay replied to LizTex2587's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So I have to brag a little... Today I noticed I now weigh less than the weight listed on my driver's license. -
JeffA70 Thank you. This was a great post. And I so agree.

I lost weight faster PRE-op.
DayByDay replied to makemyownluck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way in the beginning. But I had to relax and let my body heal. I lost about 45lbs before surgery. So I did not expect a big initial weight drop. Not that 5lbs is anything to complain about. 2lbs is good. I started out loosing a 1lb a week for about 6 weeks, then just started loosing 2lbs a week. Just let your body heal. Then you can start exercising. Also, I lost a lot of inches in the beginning and the scale barely moved. Take Care! -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
DayByDay replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I havent either. But my vitamins are starting to make me nauseous. (Weird) Finally able to get "all" my water in. If I can only get a handle on PMS. That is the only time I struggle with head hunger. Happy with my weight loss so far. Started out 1lb a week (no stalls yet, not even the 3rd week), now up to 2lbs a week. -
My insurance denied me and I had a BMI of 49. I had no other health issues. I paid out of pocket. I wanted to prevent illness.

Deciding on surgery knowing I will be a slow loser - help!
DayByDay replied to takingbackcontrol's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can totally relate to you. I am the same way. I always felt my body was fighting me. I knew I would be a slow loser. But I went ahead with the surgery because a slow loss is better than no loss at all. That really motivated me to get a running start. Lost 45lbs before surgery. All you can do is follow the plan and the weight will come off. -
2.5 months out 41 pounds gone forever
DayByDay replied to jacee's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow congrats. I was sleeved just two days before you and lost about half of that weight. Keep up the good work. 4lbs a week is awesome. I've been averaging 2lbs weekly and been very happy with that. -
Calcet Creamy Bites, love the chocolate. They have lemon also (currently sold out). I get mine from Celebrate Vitamins. They come on 500 mg. Most I have found were 250 mg.
-
Same here. Craving carbs. I have to stay more mindful and present during that time.

I think I'm broken :(

Toss the scale and just focus on working out. Start working on building muscle. The more muscle you have to more calories your burn. Muscle takes up less space than fat so you will get leaner. Work on building muscle every other day on the days you don't weight lift do cardio. It will take about a month for your body to adjust so be patient (your weight wil fluctuate because of Water may even gain but it is muscle). Make sure you drink more water and get your Protein in. Protein is essential for building muscle. I went to 24 hour fitness and got a trainer to show me how to use the equipment properly. Pricy but worth it. I hope this is helpful to you. Don't let this stall derail your hard work. Take care. -

Has anyone lost and then regained ALL of their weight?
DayByDay replied to AussieLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreed. You can't continue the same behavior and expect a different result. -
I toss chia seeds into my greek yogurt, shakes, oatmeal, etc. Also Flax Meal (Ground Flax Seeds) works really well. I just read that to get the best nutrients from chia seeds you should ground them. So most people I know ground them.

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
DayByDay replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Interesting. I have the same problem. I thought I was just weird. For me it is when I don't get enough water. Once I am fully hydrated it goes away. -
All liquid diet makes my 1200 calories look like a buffet!

Good for you! -
Well I finally give up¡!
DayByDay replied to ploveda1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doing great. When I get in these moods I go to my closet and start trying on smaller sized clothes. I am amazed that the scale does not move yet some how I loose inches. I know it is hard not to compare. But don't make yourself crazy. Trust the process. Also read this: http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html -
Well I'm a slow loser
DayByDay replied to brandy88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been sleeved for eight weeks and so far lost 16lbs. I'm okay with that. I had lost 48lbs before I had the surgery so I knew my initial weight loss was going to be slower. (no big initial drop) So 36lbs is awesome! Celebrate and enjoy. -
I've been very interested in this procedure. Please share your outcome with us. There does not seem to be a lot of doctors doing this procedure but I am hopeful that will change by the time I'm ready for the next step. A Doctor at Geisinger pioneered this procedure. Here is some information for Geisinger: http://www.redefineyourself.com/corset_trunk/250_lb_loss.html Also another article: http://www.corsettrunkplasty.com/images/PSP-November-2012.pdf

when will it get better?
DayByDay replied to jessicakayyy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Took me 3 weeks to feel human. 4 to feel decent. 5 to feel normal (got my energy back). Just keep up with the Water. chicken broth or unjury Chicken flavor was a life savor. Protein helps aid in the healing process. And move when you can. Good luck. It does get better. -
Ready to drink, the costco Premier Protein, chocolate for powder I like Performance Whey - vanilla from Optimum Nutrition (planning on trying the chocolate version) (Purchase from the Vitamin shoppe or Costco) and Max Protein - Chocolate from SEI Nutrition (Purchase from GNC or SEI Website) I like the vanilla because you can add just about anything to it. re on facebo

DayByDay replied to TonyaMac's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on taking this step. Everything you are feeling is normal. I too was frustrated and upset with myself that I had to take this route. But that is in the past. Just keep moving forward and don't look back. You can't change the past, however the future is up to you. Good luck.
