I had my surgery at a surgical center. I left within hours of surgery. I did fine. So I would say 1 day is enough.

When do the god awful gurgles stop?
DayByDay replied to Heybaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about 4 months out and I still get the gurgles every now and then. For me, greek yogurt causes the gurgles. -
Thanks for the feedback. I don't mind if people notice. Its just that it is not all I want to talk about (especially at work). Interestingly enough I ran into her in the break room. She apologized to me for eating potatoes with her eggs. I told her she could eat what she wanted. I am so not judgmental. So weird.

DayByDay replied to Paradise Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me swelling took about a month to go down. I gained 10lbs from the fluids they pumped into me. -
What is optimal calorie in take?
DayByDay replied to wackiemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I try to do 60-80 grams of protein and carbs keep under 100. -
I've been lucky and haven't stalled once, however my weight loss fluctuates. Some weeks its just half a pound others it is two pounds. After three weeks of half pound losses each week, I posted a 6lbs weight loss. Didn't do anything differently. This week I will probably post my first gain. Nothing that I did, it is Water weight because of hormones. So I share your frustration. I know that at some point it will even out. Just keep doing what you are doing.

When will I learn how to eat?
DayByDay replied to vegasneon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use a small tasting spoon. I use smaller plates and bowls (ramekins). Works really well. -
I went shorter and more layered. That really helps. I started loosing a lot of hair, I bumped up my protein and it really helped.

I am post-op. I can totally relate to your question. I started loosing weight when I started the process to get WLS. I met with a nutritionist and surgeon who gave me a list of things I needed to work on to prepare me for surgery. So doing things like Protein first, low carb, I manage to loose 48lbs in about 6 months. So I did start to think maybe I didn't need my surgery. After all I was self pay, that money could go to so many other things. But then I reminded myself. I have lost those same pounds over and over and over again. Sure I can loose weight, in fact I was a pro at it. I just can't make weight loss permanent. The most I lost was 90lbs and managed to gain it all back. So I didn't trust myself. I had the surgery. Not saying you should or shouldn't. Just know yourself, know the risks, and if you can keep the weight off, more power to you. Good luck.

The scale will lie to you. Take your measurements. I was dropping inches like crazy and while posting minimal weight loss (especially those first few months). Also it is very common for people to not lose week three. Your body is making adjustments. Also a very helpful article on stalls: http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html

Should I change what I'm doing? Maybe I need to relax.
DayByDay replied to christieouchley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take your measurements. You may be loosing inches. -
Are you sipping water? I used a shot glass and sipped water from it. I tried to drink a shot glass of water every 15 min (I used a timer). They only way I was able to stay hydrated. Dehydration will make you feel very nauseous.

Your doctor is being way too hard on you. I was also sleeved in February (25th to be exact), I've lost 30lbs. We are all different a lose weight at different rates. Most of my weight loss was before my surgery. Celebrate your loss! Keep doing what you are doing, its working. Rather than seeing another surgeon, maybe you can start seeing a nutritionist that is familiar with the sleeve. Mine is wonderful and she has never once questioned the rate of my loss and helped me set nutritional goals. Just another option. Take care. And be proud of your accomplishments.

I feel your pain. My hair loss has been a bit nuts lately. I noticed I wasn't getting as much Protein as I needed so I have adjusted my meals to include more protein. Hopefully that will help. I also got a more layered haircut and that has helped a lot. Good luck.

Try unjury chicken Soup. That got me through a rough patch. Nice to have something that wasn't sweet. Try sipping your fluids. In the early days if I took in too much Fluid at once I would get nauseous. If you are not taking a PPI ask your doctor for a prescription. This also helps with nausea.

I gained 10lbs of Fluid when I had surgery. They pump you up full of fluid so you stay hydrated. I took me about a week for the fluid to dissipate Keep sipping that Water.

Anyone attempt a "Pre" Pre-OP diet a few months prior to having to start your actual Pre-op diet?
DayByDay replied to Heather Meyer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did it, lost 48lbs. My doctor was thrilled. Said I made his job so much easier. -
Post Op hunger! I'm feeling like a failure! Help
DayByDay replied to sheritaRN's topic in Food and Nutrition
Focus on your water. Most of the time when we want food what we really need is water. If you sick of water try Unjury Chicken Soup. It helps me through the rough patches and it really does taste good. Your at the tough part, once you start on solid food it gets better. Just keep it up. You can get through this. I hope this helps. -
Please someone help me!
DayByDay replied to ploveda1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started taking this medication before I was sleeved. It made loosing weight easier because my body was more in balance. I also felt better. My skin stopped being itchy and my nails quit splitting and flaking.
