    Can The Sleeve Shrink?

I don't think mine has shrunk, but I can't eat any more than I could 6 weeks postop. I do think about how I will keep from losing too much. I am 10 months out and am getting close to goal. On a good day I can only eat 1 oz. of any meat at dinner. No way to meat earlier in the day. I mostly get by on beans and soups, crackers, protein shakes. It gets really boring. Whats really crazy is I can eat tortilla chips and salsa, a couple cookies, chocolate, and ice cream. And yet salad is totally not okay. I can't eat raw things like that at all. My doctor did tell me that it would be pretty impossible to stretch the sleeve which is good, but sometimes I feel like I can't eat enough...
  2. I'm tired of the protein drinks too but I can't get enough protein in a day without drinking 1. The Premier drinks I buy at Sams have 30g so that plus oatmeal gets me to almost 40g in the morning. I eat lots of beans too because I really struggle with meat. I think my sleeve is really small. I can't really eat anymore than I could 8 weeks after the procedure. That's good in that I have lost 80 pounds and have about 15 to go. But I also have to consider long term not being able to eat much protein in the form of actual food. I also have a hard time with salad and many fruits/veges. Like I said, I eat lots of beans and soup. Getting back to the allergy, I just have to put up with the itching and let me tell you it can wake me up and absolutely drives me nuts. My hands and feet swell up and get hives on them and I have callous like areas on my hands from rubbing them so much. the only thing that works for me is taking 2 (25) mg benadryl the second I start itching and then it takes about 45 minutes for it to stop. Some days I have to take it twice. On the up side, you get tolerant to the sleepiness and it'll quit giving you that side effect. I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one out there sick of those protein drinks.
  3. I had the sleeve done last November. I am close to goal. That's a great thing. However, at about the 50 lb marker, I started having many hot flashes (in Feb). And in the past month, things that would have never upset me before eat up most of my concentration. I cry so easily. Because I am 52, I am probably also going through menopause or about to go through it. Anyone else out there have any of these emotional swings and if so, what helped you get through it? I never imagined that the weight loss could maybe trigger these things. One other thing, my stomach is obviously so small I can eat very little meat, which I miss. I get most of my protein from shakes and beans. Any suggestions? I'm all ears!!
  4. well, you just might be allergic. I am allergic to milk, eggs, and beef so it's has been tricky since my surgery last November. I drink protein drinks anyway because I have not had much success eating meat. I eat a lot of beans for protein. I find that about every few days I have to take 50mg of benadryl to stop the itching. It primarily occurs in my hands and feed and drives me absolutely crazy. And I know it's the food allergies. But you know, I've got to eat something. If it goes anything like my situation, you will just decide you need the protein. I have heard that pea protein is an alternative but I haven't tried it. I did try soy protein and just couldn't tolerate the taste. Hope this helps...
  5. Hi. I know what you are going through. I lose in phases now. I am 10 mos. post sleeve and until beginning of June I lost steadily. Then it just stopped until just 2 weeks ago. I stayed within 2 lbs. for like 14-15 weeks than all of a sudden I have lost 10 in past two weeks. I'm expecting it to stop again for a period of time. I guess my body has to adjust for awhile then it dumps weight. It can be discouraging, but we are all different. I'm now down to my last "20" and figure it could take a while. I just have to let my body do it on it's own time. Try to hang in there.
