A thread for Single Bandsters

Denise My 6 yr relationship started with this guy calling me to ask me out and after about 5 months, I finally agreed. I was not attracted to him and there wasn't any chemistry. After about a yr of casual dating, we went out and it was like the stars were shinning down on us. I knew that night that I'd fallen hard for him. We dated on and off for all this time with both of us dating other people. The last yr we have been dating only each other and we have gotten close. Except for his hesitation to commit, things are good. When I met my EX, I was instantly star struck. We went through a whirl-wind romance and married 7 months later. I wonder now if the chemistry kept me from seeing some of the things I should have been paying attention to. I guess what I'm trying to say is that time tells a lot. If the guy is nice, you may want to give him a chance. Unless you have someone else to go out with, are you really wasting your time? Continue looking and checking the personals if you want and good luck in your pursuit. misscarol -

Kristen I hope this makes you feel a little better. It's hard to see one's EX doing something for someone that he never did for you. Take heart. Once he gets pass the need to impress her(now I've got you)thing, he will treat her the same as he did you. My Ex did the same. I tried to warn his new soon to be wife, but she wouldn't listen. She said he's changed, as if she had some magic powers and he didn't care as much for me or he would've treated me the same. As time went by, she was treated the same as I was. Remember, just because a leophard is not growling or biting, doesn't mean his spots have changed. You deserve the BEST! misscarol -

Denise822 I've been in a 6 yr on and off relationship. I love the guy very much, but I realized if I was ever going to get a commintment, it would probably have to be from someone else. The guy I thought was a keeper turned out to be a disappointment. It did ,however, get the guy I had the 6 yr relationship to wake up and take notice. I'll see if I get a commintment before long.misscarol -
Hey Roxie About your port, it is closer to the surface as it's easier to access. I don't feel mine like I did. I still have some times when I lie on my right side that itis "there", a little uncomfortable, but not painful. Usually just shifting my body some will make it more comfortable. Also, my doctor told me I would feel a "pulling" sensation for a while due to the fact that he sews the port to a muscle. This pulling gets better over time as the port kind of sets itself as you heal. Hope this helps misscarol53

Hi eyespy I know probably 15 fellow employees in the hospital where I work that have had the band. All look great and have maintained the ideal weight. Some are 2, 3, and 4 yrs post surgery. I know 3 or 4 people that have had gastric by pass. 2 of them regained their weight and the other one struggles constantly. I read somewhere that 50% of the gastric by pass people will regain the weight. WOW! Even though I haven't read any stats on the lapband, I'd be willing to bet that it's much less. According to my weight management clinic, if one doen't change her lifestyle and develop new habits, she will have difficulty maintaining . Here's to the new us. I don't know abouy anyone else, but I want to keep it off. misscarol -

Hi Transam1955 I too am from Dalton. I used Dr. Jamie Ponce at Hamilton Med. Center. I work there and have insurance. The insurance only paid 80% and I had to pay cash the day of surgery. Lucky that I had a mature CD I cashed in. I had my surgery on 5-9-07 and have lost 15 lbs as far as I know. I need to go weigh tomorrow to see. I feel like I've lost more. I'll see. I would love to hear more from you. We have a support group that meets once a month. You are welcome to come. I've only been to one meeting and learn quite a bit that evening. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you more details. We are meeting next week. misscarol

Hi Another Me. Thanks for your interest. I live in Dalton, Ga (Carpet Capital of the world). I'm doing fine, healing well. I start solids next week. There's plenty of single guys in my part of the country. I've been seeing a guy on and off for 6 yrs and I really think a lot of him, but he's not the commintement kind I don't think. He went with me for my banding and has been very supportive. He tells me he loves me and I think he does. I've been divorced for almost 11 yrs and I'm ready for marriage and a permanant relationship. We'll see after the new me comes forth. -

Don't get discouraged Denise. The bad thing is that our metabolism slows as we age. The other thing is the more weight you have to lose, the faster it comes off in the beginning. Please don't sell yourself short. You have a weight loss of 32 lbs and that's great. My doctor doesn't want me to lose it too fast. Here's hoping that you get the courage to get another adjustment. Hi Denise. I'm 53 and have been a nurse for 34 yrs. I work in a hosp. I've met numerous associates that are banded. Our hospital was involved in the clinical trials for FDA approval for the lapband. I was impressed with everyone's weight loss and how 3 and 4 yrs later they are still doing great. Since I've been overweight most of my life, I thought this would be a great tool for me to use to keep it off. I have three grandchildren, ages 4(girl) and 5 (girl&boy twins). I've been divorced for 11 yrs this year and looking forward to finally beginning a new life with the band. This week I've started the mushies. It's better that just liquids. I've lost 15 lbs that I know of. Look forward to talking to you later Carol -

:help: I get a lot of gas especially late evening. Sometimes I have trouble getting to sleep because I feel so bloated. I feel great the next morning, but then my stomach growls so loud that it can be heard by everyone.
