How much of a fill for my 11cc band?
ladiebird replied to Iluvmyboys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hi i was banded in france with a 10cc band and my surgeon says that my first fill will be 3cc as this is what he aims for with all his band patients. 1cc in a 10cc band seems very small fill wise but every surgeon has his own way of doing things. This doesnt seem much fun for those of you that have to travel quite a way for each fill as it must get very expensive keep having to make trips love tracey -
Hello everyone Well im a fully fledged bandster now as i had my op on the 6th and everything was fine...mind you i was quite sore for a couple of days but that might have been the the pink fluffy side of me thats hidden under this 127kg body of mine...lol.. Have to say that as i took mr preop sedation i did wonder if i had done the right thing going in for the op but that thoguth soon disapeard and i think its the best thing i have ever done for myself and like whippledaddy says in one of his posts.. i too like him dont seem to do much thats just for my benefit and no one elses... Is that a bit of a trait with us larger peeps do you think ? I would also like to say that i think whipples posts are some of the most thoguth provoking i have had the pleasure to read. Big hello to harlynana as we had our ops the same day!!!! Love to all Tracey Banded 6th dec 04 Dr Jerome Dargent lyon france 35 yrs old 127kg day of op

Hi All I was bande the same day as harleynana and my port is on the ribcage on my left. i asked my surgeon about the 10cc thing and he said he no longer uses the 4cc ones and all his patients are fitted with 10cc as he felt it allowed more flexibility for fills.. Mind you he was the most amazing looking man for his age and i was gazing at him quite adoringly at the time so he could have located my port by my ass for all i cared....lol Tracey

thanks to all for your replies. Have managed to make contact through an english site with another 2 of my surgeons patients and its all positive feedback.....phew!.... cos obviously until you get comments from previous patients to allay any fears they just twirl around in my head. Not having second thoughts just a little aprehensive now that the date is getting closer. Tracey

I was just wondering if anyone else here has had their bands fitted in europe. Especially interested in Lyon France. I know this is a mainly american site from reading your posts. The cost of banding in the usa is so much more expensive than Europe. In the Uk i was given a price guide of 6500 pounds to 12000 pounds In Lyon (where the hospitals have less instance of mrsa and have been doing this procedure for many more years than the uk) i was given the price guide of 5000 Euro which is roughly 3500 pounds this included all the preops. Such a huge difference to what you have to pay in the USA. And how out of reach the price tag in the states must seem to people whose medical insurance doesnt cover banding Tracey

Hi all just thought i would ask you all what band you thought was the best to have fitted and why? My surgeon uses Obtech (swedish band) and also the american Inamed one. Which one is easier to get fills for etc? Many thanks Tracey
