Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I had my first knee replacement surgery two weeks ago. Thanks to the sleeve I had lost enough weight to let the surgeon do the muscle sparring. Because he didn't have to cut my muscle it allows healing so much quicker and less pain too. I get to do the other knee in 8 weeks after completing outpatient therapy. This has been a long journey for me but hopefully I am getting to the end of having surgeries and being healthy again. Enjoy reading everyone's posts!
  2. I had my vsg 9/17. I have lost 86 pounds since my back surgery in April of 2012. On Tuesday the 22nd I get my first new knee. The orthro surgeon wouldn't even schedule me until I got some weight off. I saw him 2 months ago so have lost 25 since that appt. I still have some more to get off but hope my new knees will allow me to excersice and keep it off.

One of my usual meals/snack is 1/4-1/2 cup of plain greek yogurt, with one packet of carnation no sugar chocolate and some sugar free carmel syrup. I've even added some raspberries or strawberries , or any other flavorings to change it up. Tastes like a chocolate mousse/pudding with lots of protein.

Happy New Year everyone! I don't post that often but love to read what's going on - I get to have my first knee replacement surgery in 21 days. I wouldn't of been able to do this yet if wasn't for the sleeve. Hope to do the other knee in May and than I can get back to work, start being active once again. Keep up the good work everyone!
  5. I'll be 4 months out when I have my first knee replacement surgery. Looking for any hints or suggestions for anyone whom has experienced this. I had my labs drawn this past friday- all nutrition levels look good, trying to get at least 60 g of protein a day.

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I havn't posted for awhile, but here I am tonight: I am doing great, or was until I came home from being gone all day ( trying to do my internship hours for a class I took) and was really hungry. Heated up a chicken thighs I had cooked and ate fine yesterday. Well I think I ate too fast, and maybe too much 1 thigh and a bite from the other; and got that intense full feeling. A hour later it all came up. First time since surgery that I've done that. Just saw my md on Friday and got to tell him no I never vomitted ever. Guess that shows me. Now just an intense headache. This may be a rough week. I was going to try to do 4 days of internship. I havn't worked since March 15th because of back surgery and still need knee surgery on both knees. How do you get back on track eating after?

I know we are to not drink with our meals- before and after; but what about that icky food taste left in your mouth- I have to take a sip just to get rid of any aftertaste. I have so far not been hungry but it's been really hard not to take a drink for 30 mins after. Any tips?

I scramble my egg with a Tbsp. of low fat cream cheese- it seems to make the egg creamier and I havn't had that stuck feeling. Also a little extra protein. That's the only addition so far I've added this week- for my pureed foods. I guess I'm not sure of what to try or too chicken to try other things yet- because I really hate to throw up! Keep thinking I may boil a few eggs and make some chicken or tuna salad this weekend. Thanks for all the info you guys put out there. It's nice to know I can talk about this with someone whom knows how this feels

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I'm 8 days post op- a month before my surgery we moved to a new home in a small town with a cornfield behind us. It's an old house too. My fiance works nights, and gets home about 645 am. I was going to go back to sleep but decided to get up, still really groggy. I sat down in my chair checking fb and sort watching tv, had just gotten some tea and my morning protein. I see something moving. Yes I have a mouse, yuck!! Screamed woke poor fiance up. Good thing I got 31 g of protein this morning because not sure when I will venture back to the kitchen! I'm sure my md is not going to like my excuse of not getting my protein ha ha. Have two traps set- hope they work. Had my first outing to get them since coming home from surgery. See MD tomorrow. On a side not was able to put a pair of jeans on this am that I hadn't woren for 8 months, and they are not tight, didn't hurt my surgery sites at all.

Hi everyone- I'm 6 days out from surgery, last night during all the food commercials I just wanted to chew on something. Even thought about chewing something and than spitting it out. Behaved myself. Pizza- used to be a almost daily occurence in our house, lol. Somewhere I read to take tomato soup, add italian spice and a little cheese to get your italian fix, guess if you want a little mexican you could add that seasoning instead. Not yet ready for that, hopefully next week. I found Propel Zero water while on the preop diet and it has B vitamins in it So have been doing that as my water. Sip all day. the Kiwi Strawberry and Canberry Lime are my favorites. So far things have been okay, but have had all the "normal" stuff- headache, coldness (sleeping under 4 blankets), spasm pain if I take too big of drink, Still taking the liquid pain med but for my bad knee and back which is one of the reasons for the surgery, It's great reading everyone's post and knowing that you are not the only one with these feelings.
