As I Twas nearing my all time highest weight and 50 years old, I knew something had to change. I have lost the same 50lbs 5 times...how do I make it different this time? I just didn't have it in me to do the battle once again. Content to live with the fat me for the rest of my life, my cholesterol soared as well as my blood pressure. Something had to be done. I had considered WLS before but my insurance never allowed it. Finally, and researching for months, I found Dr. Stanley Hoehn in the Kansas City, Ks area. His group was running a cash special and I decided to take the plunge and borrow against my retirement.

Traveling three hours, I attended my first appointment. Dr. Hoehn was so encouraging and I immediately felt confidant about him and the facility. It seemed meant to be! One month later I had my Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. It was a little scary I will admit...this was a big deal. My husband was allowed to stay in the room with me overnight and I had amazing care. The three hour ride home was actually the worst part of the surgery!

I returned to work in 10 days..a little tired but the post op pain was nearly gone by then. I am now down 41lbs and so thrilled that I embarked on this journey! Three months out and I have worked out the little kinks to my new lifestyle. It is thrilling to know that this time I can get rid of all my fat clothes!! In the past I had always kept them...and ended up needing them.

I have not started working out yet and am just now experiencing my first plateau. As a full time sonographer in a busy hospital, I now need to make time for exercise. That is my New Year resolution!!
