Can you lose too much weight?
Annie B replied to daluvoflife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One step at a time... -
Congratulations on your weight loss so far - that's great! I've only been sleeved for 10 days. For me it's not an issue of putting myself first or not - it's that I HATE exercise. I know I have to change this fast if I want to get healthy. I'm open to suggestions as well!

I believe all surgeons test for leaks in the OR before finishing. However, it sounds like most do a test the following morning to ensure there are no leaks. Like GingerRN, I am also a nurse and enjoyed watching the screen, and seeing my new stomach. It was very reassuring to me to have this test (which is very quick) and know there were no leaks before putting anything in my stomach. BTW - I used a straw for the liquid and it was better than not using a straw, but I do wish I had remembered to hold my nose. It sounds crazy, but it really does work to block much of the taste. I'm not sure what it does for the aftertaste.

Annie B replied to sleevegirl108's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are stunning - both before and after. However, someone above me said 10 years younger and they are right. You look younger and so much healthier!! Congratulations! -
Check with your surgeon.

3 days post op.. WHAT DO I EAT?
Annie B replied to Back2Me2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on day 9 of clears and share your boredom! A lot of the foods mentioned above are not clears - so just make sure you're following the diet your surgeon wants you to be on. I am living on beef or chicken bouillon, sugar free Jello, sugar free pops, diluted apple juice. I've been alternating them every day, all day. My MD keeps his patients on clears for 2 weeks post-op. I'm really looking forward to Jan 2nd!! -
I would do it yourself and love the suggestion above - find a time that works and stick to it.

Lap Band conversion to Gastric Sleeve
Annie B replied to vonnegutk's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hi Tad - if you don't get any responses before it falls off the recent topics list on the right, post again because I know there are several people who have had the conversion from band to sleeve. -
I would let your doctor know. Zofran is the anti-nausea medication so you're covered there. However, again, I would let your doctor know as there might be something more you can do, or he/she can do.

Sleeve Anniversary.
Annie B replied to fluffylibra30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! -
I didn't have staples for the sleeve, but did for my 3 c-sections, and they did not hurt to come out.

johnlatte - great post! I agree with absolutely everything you said.

I have read that some people have had regrets - and I understand why - they have truly had rough experiences. Every doctor seems to have different approaches. I would really research your doctor - how many have they done, what is their complication rate? Search this forum for others who have used that doctor and find out what their experiences were like. There are clearly risks to this surgery, and some of the people with regrets are experiencing them. So your best bet is to investigate your surgeon to ensure you have the best possible outcome. I would tell you if I had regrets, but I've only been sleeved for a week so it's really not enough time or experience with it to tell you. I can tell you my surgery went well, sore belly but no real pain, tolerating liquids without a problem ( don't move to the next post-op phase till next week), had a moment of panic in the hospital, but then remembered liquids aren't my diet for the rest of my life and this phase will be over soon. I wish you all the best!

Susan228 - I am having the same problem - sleeved last Wednesday. It's getting better, but I still seem to be swallowing air with every swallow! Can you explain what you did to stop this? I just can't imagine what I'm doing wrong! Thanks!

Annie B replied to NaomiesMommy's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Congratulations on your beautiful daughter, and I am so sorry for the loss of your twins. -
You both sound great, which is very encouraging when you're still looking ahead. Donny - are you able to swallow a prilosec capsule? I'm a little fuzzy on whether or not you're allowed to take pills, etc., in the first few days/weeks following surgery.
-
Wow - you look wonderful!
-
Beckyrn - may I ask who your surgeon was? I am scheduled for Dec 19th - also a nurse, Bergen County. So good to hear you're doing so well so soon!!
