Hating Myself & Afraid Less than 6 Weeks Out...Long Post...Needing Support
Annie B replied to deedeemuffin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh, and the Vitamins? I LOVE mine! I got chewable Multivitamins, chewable Calcium, sublingual B12 and Biotin lozenges. I'm only 2 weeks and a few days out, and have only advanced to moist and mushy foods 2 days ago, but my vitamins are the highlight of my meals. A lot of people above me have posted a lot of great things. You are not alone! -
Hating Myself & Afraid Less than 6 Weeks Out...Long Post...Needing Support
Annie B replied to deedeemuffin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi DeeDee, I think you are confronting the battle going on inside your mind, and you should be congratulated. I do not know what is preventing you from letting yourself succeed, but you are seeking help and I am so happy that you are doing that. I truly feel like fear is involved, but only you have those answers - fear of failing? fear of succeeding? fear of losing something you have now? I don't know so I don't know how to encourage you except to say I will be praying that you discover what you need to succeed. You have it in you! -
Senior gal concerned about getting the Sleeve
Annie B replied to MarciaM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 54 and had it done a few weeks ago. For me, it was a risk vs. benefit situation. My obesity was negatively impacting my health, with the potential for even more serious complications. As long as you are healthy enough to pass the medical clearances, this surgery should be considered. I would talk to your primary care physician. Mine was so incredibly supportive. She was very helpful. -
Congratulations!!! How incredibly exciting for you!

What pain meds did you have
Annie B replied to msreaina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had dilaudid in the hospital for my entire 2 day stay. I was sent home with percocet tablets but never needed them. I was not in pain - just sore when I would get up from sitting or lying down. -
Finally a Protein Drink I can handle!
Annie B replied to lilpun75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Platinum hydro-whey can be purchased through Amazon, or GNC. This will also be like chocolate milk or a chocolate shake if blended, but also for lactose intolerant people. The muscle-milk lite can also be purchased at GNC. -

Finally a Protein Drink I can handle!
Annie B replied to lilpun75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dietician recommended MuscleMilk Lite chocolate. Today was my first day to try it. Only allowed 4 oz (bottle is 8 oz), tasted good enough (after 2 weeks of clear liquids), and no running to the bathroom. It is like chocolate milk, but it is supposed to be formulated to be tolerated by lactose intolerant people. So far so good. They are pre-made and are 4 to a pack. She also recommended platinum hydro-whey turbo chocolate. I haven't tried that one yet. It is a powder to be mixed with Water. -
I'm just using herb-ox chicken or beef bouillon. I'm actually enjoying the beef bouillon.

Finally able to tolerate broth and scale issues
Annie B replied to kikitrixie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my 1 week post op visit last week, their scale showed a weight loss of 19 pounds. My scale showed a weight loss of 12 pounds. I'm trying to only weigh myself twice a week so I don't go crazy on those days nothing happens. It will work if we do our part. You are, so it will work! -

Wow - I never heard of the FitBit. It sounds very intriguing. -
Should i be able to eat this?
Annie B replied to orthoman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did your surgeon give you specific instructions? I was only allowed to have clear liquids the first week (nothing creamed) and only a max of 4 oz/hour. I would check with your doctor to ensure you don't damage anything. -
Per my surgeon, no lifting more than 10 pounds for 6 weeks. Fat2Fitmom is right - check with your surgeon first. BTW - I love that title - Fat2FitMom - says it all!

My surgery was on the 19th. My diet is much more restricted . Mine is clear liquids - no cream soups, no yogurt - it is truly clear liquids - broth, apple juice, jello, gatorade. I get to add the creamy foods on Wednesday!

I really appreciate these posts. I almost never go to fast-food, but hearing that there are some things that could be good choices just in case, is very helpful.

I don't drink soda, so that's not an issue for me. However, when my kids were younger and had stomach viruses, I used to stir the ginger ale or coke with a spoon to get the bubbles out.

3 months since surgery , 50 lbs down

Beautiful!! Congratulations! -
I'm not at at that point yet, but I was told by my MDs office that Wendy's chili was good.
-
Mary - are you on a clear liquid diet? I have no energy even though I would love to start walking. I don't want to shoot off the end of the treadmill.
-
Please just make sure to tell your plastic surgeon that you had weight loss surgery. You don't want to have it done and then find it was done too early and you need more surgery.

I'm a 12/19 sleever still on clears. (my doc does 2 weeks clears, 2 weeks moist and mushy, and then 2 weeks on soft solids). My favorite is the beef bouillon, but I'm also surprisingly enjoying the blue gatorade and edy's sugar free fruit pops. But my focus is on Wednesday when I can change to moist and mushy!!! Be strong, protect your healing belly and keep your eye on the finish line! The boring choices won't last forever!
