    hit MY first goal

    Congratulations!!! That is absolutely wonderful!

    goal weight ....

I truly think that the change is what makes others think that. You have lost almost 100 pounds!! That's FANTASTIC!!! You must look tiny compared to where you started. The advice you got above is good - as long as your MD is comfortable with your goal, and you're healthy, I think too much about what others say.
  3. I was sleeved on the 19th and seem to be hungry all the time. I am really hoping it passes once I'm eating more normal food that takes more time to digest. The first few nights following surgery I dreamed I was eating my favorite foods. That has stopped, which is great, but I am still tempted, which is disappointing. But I'm just moving along, following my MD's program. Looking forward to losing weight!

    12/22/12 Sleevers share your progress

That's why I put it in quotes - I have trouble equating these as meals as well. I have lots of questions for the NUT next week. Next Wednesday (the 16th) I get to move to soft solids and then add 2 2oz snacks, for a total of 16 oz of food a day. Still seems like a very small amount! However, I'm committed to changing relationship with food, and this first 6 weeks is really crucial, I think.

Thank you for the swallowing tip. I've been trying to do that and it seems to be getting better each day.

Moist and mushy = creamed Soup, no lumps at all yogurt, no fruit SF pudding cottage cheese pastina Protein shakes (was not allowed these during my 2 week clear liquid phase) I've been on this for 4-5 days. No more than 4 oz at a time - three times a day. So far, I've not had any problems with it. I stick to the program I was given exactly. I eat very slowly, no liquids 30 minutes before I have one of these "meals", during the meal and 30 minutes after the meal. 10 more days and I move up to soft solids. That's going to be the big change.

I think if you're being treated for hypertension you should be okay.

    What to do......?

I have the same issue. I decided to go by my scale since that's the one I'm going to be using over the long-term, but really, it's whatever you want to do!
  10. Rest, regroup, and feel better!! I'm glad you're being taken care of!

    12/22/12 Sleevers share your progress

i was sleeved on the 19th. Day of surgery 222, 10 days later 205, today 205. Kind of a bummer, but I attribute it to the fact that I switched from clear liquids to moist and mushy at the 2 week mark. If I'm still at 205 in 2 weeks, I'll be upset! Right now, I'm just trying to get from moist/mushy meal to moist/mushy meal! i wish you the best!! We'll see the scale start moving.
  12. I have the same concerns. I was sleeved just over 2 weeks ago, and have had no problems sticking to the program, but also still have the desire to eat like I used to. Since I'm not on solid food yet, I don't really know how full I'll feel. I'm hoping solid foods bring a change! I'm looking forward to the responses you get as I will benefit from them as well! Welcome!!
  13. Thank you for mentioning the temperature piece of protein. I was wondering if I could make a hot chocolate with my protein shake, but it doesn't sound like it after your post.

    Dr Amit Trivedi

I also had my sleeve done by Amit Trivedi. No question I had to stay on top of the surgical coordinator, but yikes, you just found out about a 3 month delay? That's awful! You're right - that should have been known immediately. Having said that, the surgeon is the most important piece of the puzzle. Trivedi's group is very experienced. I was very pleased with him.

    Chicken, tomato, artichoke hearts

I don't think I've ever had artichoke hearts. Do they taste similar to hearts of palm? or are they the same thing??

    Turkey "Meatball" Squares

    They look yummy!
  17. No nausea. I'm so sad for you - nausea is the worst! If I am nauseous, I'm allowed to take zofran tablets, but really, I think your doctor should be doing something for you!

    What is PB2?
  19. Hi Kennedy, That is such a bummer that your date was changed. Once I made the decision and had a date, I didn't want anything to deter me. I can only imagine how difficult it is to regroup. I understand about sharing the fact you're having this surgery. I told only immediate family and one friend prior. I was surprised that every one was extremely supportive. I had thought there might have been some judgment in there, but there wasn't. I go back to work on Monday and really haven't decided if I'll be telling anyone. At some point, I'll have to face it, but not yet - I don't think it's too noticeable yet! Anyway - welcome!

    Muscle Milk?

I have no issues with muscle milk lite. I've only had the chocolate.

    Getting around after surgery

I think a lot depends on your diet. I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks and was really weak the second week. I couldn't have done it. However, those who were allowed protein shakes, seemed to have more energy.
  22. That is why this board is here. We are all in the same boat (similar boats, as it sounds like every food program is different!) and can relate unlike those who have not experienced it. I figure we will tell others if and when we are ready. And when we are ready, we won't worry if they judge us because we didn't do this for them, we did it for us - for our health and for our futures.
  23. Yikes! Week 1 is only water?? I was on clears for 2 weeks, but that included broth, diluted apple juice, diluted gatorade, SF jello... how did you not collapse? I have to say, yours is the most restrictive program I've heard of.
  24. DeeDee - you are going to be fine. You are already on your way with a good sense of humor! We were told to spread the vitamins out - Multivitamin with the morning meal, calcium with lunch, multivitamin with dinner, calcium before bed. That seems to be working for me so far.
  25. Dana, I have Solotron chewable Multivitamins (GNC). They're wafer-like - I let them dissolve in my mouth. I also have the chewable Calcium wafers from bariatric support citrus-flavored. They're a little powdery, but I do the same thing - let them dissolve in my mouth. I love the flavors.
