I'm looking for a workout buddy here in Beeville....My husband is willing to go with me when he gets off work at 4pm, but by then I'm not really up for it, ya know? We are members of the new Anytime Fitness here and I also like to go to the pool at the prison. Don't laugh, it's a great pool and is empty most of the time...used to be part of the Navy base, anyway, I have a pass and it's open tues-sun. 10am till 10pm. I prefer going around 10am, but would rather not go alone. Well, if there is anyone out there in Beeville, maybe we can meet and see if we get along. later, Joanie )

Me too, I have to keep the bad stuff out of the house, cause I still don't have the willpower to ignore it. -

:tongue2: Wow, you are telling my story...I am almost 4 yrs out and have been ~10 lbs from my goal weight for a long time and now I have gained 5 lbs from eating holiday sweets...just a bite at a time, but it adds up for sure. I am making this problem my #1 NY resolution...I've come too far to blow it now. Take each day, and each meal, one at a time...we can do this...I know it. best of luck to us, Joanie ) -
Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?

My daughter is 5'7" and has had to battle her weight, just like her mom, all her life. She is about 30lbs overweight right now. Her major problem is that she can't control how much she eats and she is a carb addict. My dr told me he believes her to be the perfect candidate for a LAP-BAND®, but that the AMA wouldn't allow him to do it because they feel she isn't obese enough. -
I thought the day would never come...

I remember that feeling. Best of luck to you! -
Funny you should mention it...my sister had her banding done almost 2 yrs ago and about 6 mos. ago started having some severe stomach aches. Her dr said she was lactose intolerant..bigtime...she can't have any dairy products now. We wondered why all of a sudden and her dr said it was probably due to the pouch she now has. Of course her fave food is....icecream...haha! Poor thing. I do notice some stomach pains on occasion when I eat icecream, but nothing terrible. Plus it does run in our family.

For Women- Underwire Bras
JoanieP replied to BooCakes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port is not that high up and it is not centered since my surgeon used my old gallbladder scar to give me less cuts, but I have heard stories from other girls that had your problem...wish I could tell you how it worked out for them, but I don't really know. Just wanted you to know that you were not alone. These surgeons are usually men and I don't think they even consider the fact that we wear bras, ya know? -

I love my band for all the reasons posted above and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I'm enjoying my life now more than I have in 20 yrs. because of my weight. Was a 22 pants now a sz 4. Whoop!!!! What's not to love, huh?

Need suggestions please
JoanieP replied to songbrook's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:bored: I was having the same problem, my mouth was dry and my throat hurt as well. I told my surgeon at my 1 week check up and was told I wasn't drinking enough water. I know you can't drink before and after you "eat" but make sure you get plenty of H2O during the day and it should get better for you. Good luck and hang in there....what a great journey you've embarked upon. :smile2: Joanie ) -

No regrets at all, except that I didn't get it done sooner. Hope you feel the same, looking forward to hearing about your progress. Good luck! Joanie )

does anyone have really loud girgling type noises?
JoanieP replied to IwannaBeHappy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do have what I call "gurgling" or small burps that don't come out. They seem to be in my esophygus. And , yes, people have heard mine. I can, sometimes, also feel, and hear when my food passes through my band into my big stomach. Weird! I'm curious to see what answers you get. Joanie ) -
 Don't it though!!! Been there more times than I care to say. Joanie )

I finally got it thru my thick head
JoanieP replied to jkend50035's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
 Good for you...I'm over 3yrs out and still haven't got it through my thick skull that I need to slow down and take smaller bites. Guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but I'm pluggin' away at it. Keep up the good work and best of luck to you. Joanie ) -
Cold Feet: Any try to follow diet without getting banded?
JoanieP replied to kiki-nj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried to follow the diet years ago and I couldn't do it. I love food and it loves me...LOL! Like KayleighsMommy said...I have never regretted getting the band, even at the roughest times. For once in my life, I actually am happy with my body. What a shame it took me so long to get here. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Joanie ) -
OMG...really, the truth is I never even thought about it...this poll kinda made me think...my daughter will be starting med school this summer...she could unfill me if necessary, I guess. (at least after she's been in med school a bit, huh? ) haha!
-
Good advise from everyone...you need to get into a support group and also go see if you need a fill....I would also suggest the 5 day pouch test. Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test Good luck, Joanie )

Bandster Hell AND Surgeon Hell
JoanieP replied to Christy712's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
:wink2: I'm glad to see you're getting a different dr. That one should get some bedside manner adjustments. Did you ever say who he was, I didn't see a name...just wondering because I can see my surgeon acting like that. (the surgeon that actually put my band in, I am seeing someone else now, alittle closer to home) I wish you luck and you are doing super girl!!! later, Joanie ) -
Vitamin and Supplement help please
JoanieP replied to mommyx2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take the centrum silver chewables (I'm 55yrs young LOL !) and I have to take the chewable caltrates for bone loss (nothing to do with my banding though) I'm sure your dr will advise you as to what he prefers you to take. Good luck! Joanie :wink2:) -
Not losing and desperate!!!! Help!
JoanieP replied to lots of dimples's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jodi gave good advise...check with your surgeon and we are all different, as so we all lose at different rates. Don't get discouraged...the weight will come off. Good luck and let us know how you're doing...we're here for you. Joanie :wink2:) -
I have enjoyed a drink or two, or three since being banded...but carbonation is out.
