FMLA/time off question
Dcline replied to blessedbeauty85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my surgeon filled out my FMLA. I asked for 3 weeks, but he called and said because I am a teacher and will be exposed to germs, etc. that he wanted me to take at least 4 weeks. -

I was having 2nd and 3rd thoughts again today. Then I took my daughter to the doctor and sat in the tightest stupid skinny person chair. I decided I would not have to be miserable in armed chairs after the surgery. Then I asked if I could step on their scale before I left. I had lost 4 pounsince the last time I was there. That means that I have lost 24 pounds since Sept! Pre-op diet starts tomorrow and I am actually excited.

I have been wondering how you are doing. My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 17.

I Can't Wait To Not Have To...
Dcline replied to BrickHouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To not have my mother apologize because I didn't inherit her metabolism. To not move tables with my stomach and have others try to figure out why it is moving. To not worry if I embarrass my kids with my weight. I would rather embarrass them on purpose -
I Can't Wait To Not Have To...

I can't wait to not have little kids ask me if I am pregnant and have to reply "No, honey. I am just fat." I can't wait to actually have a lap for my kids to sit on. -
I am supposed to start pre-op on 3rd, but I am going to try to start tomorrow.

Can't Wait To Work Without My Legs Hurting At The End Of The Day.
Dcline posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a teacher and on my feet all day. Tonight, as I was grocery shopping, my legs were hurting. I realized how much better they will be feeling once the weight starts coming off. -
Can't Wait To Work Without My Legs Hurting At The End Of The Day.

I teach 6-8 grade English and history. My principal and co-workers are so excited for me and are being very supportive. I am having surgery on the 17th of Dec. Hoping to just miss that week and one after the break. -
I am a single parent of three. I have found care for each of my kids for the time I will be in hospital. I will be having surgery 4 hours away from home. My mother, who lives with me, is elderly so my brother is coming to stay with her. With everyone else taken care of, it looks like I will be alone for surgery and hospital stay. I am a little afraid and sad about this.

I guess the changes I have been trying to make pre-op are working. I took my son to the dr. this morning and stepped on a scale for the first time since scheduling surgery back in September. I am down 20 pounds!

I was all for this and excited. Last night they called to set my date - December 17- 2 days before my 42nd birthday. Now I am scared.

Going Bak To Work?
Dcline replied to Quianna Armstead's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a teacher and scheduled 3 weeks off. My doctor's office got the FMLA paperwork and insisted that I schedule 4 and then I can return early if I feel up to it. -
I Really Need Help Making A Decision!
Dcline replied to Jen35's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely understand your comments. I lost a ton of weight in college and then had some bad experiences. I put the weight back on as "protection" and used it to push others away. Twenty years later, I am ready to tear down that wall. -
I am a single mom to 3 kiddos; 13, 10, and 6. My surgery is scheduled for December 17. My kids are my life and one of my biggest concerns is how the surgery will affect them
