I had a bit of difficulty over the holidays with cookies. Figured out that a soft cookie here and there goes down pretty easily. I'm hoping I've got that out of my system, and we've now gotten rid of all the holiday baked goods.

Good for you! I hit a big stall, too. Pretty sure I need to drink more water and move more.

Warning About Constipation After Surgery
missy-la posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was sleeved 11/14. Want to warn everyone pre-op, make sure you buy your stool softener ahead of time like your doctor tells you, and start using it as soon as you leave the hospital. I ignored this advice, since I've always been extremely regular. Figured if issues developed, I would just deal with them then. Boy was I wrong! Take the trauma of surgery, add a highly concentrated protein diet, then add not being able to get a lot of water in after surgery, then top with narcotic pain meds and BAM! I ended up at my local ER this morning for an emergency enema and almost had to be de-impacted! And that was AFTER 12 hours of hell at home!! So buy the stool softener, TRY to get water in, walk, and wean of the narcotics as soon as you can. And maybe buy and keep a couple suppositories at home just in case!! -
Yes, I was sleeved on 11/14 and I just developed a sharp, nagging pain in my left shoulder, kind of in the back of the shoulder. Really uncomfortable if I lay on it.

I am one week post-op from 11-14. I learned a very important lesson today! Being a very regular gal, I didn't take my discharge instructions seriously and didn't pick up ant stool softener. Figured if problems cropped up, I'd deal with it then. WELL! I should probably post this under pre-op! FOLKS, that's good advice! You take the trauma of surgery, add a highly concentrated protein diet, throw in not being able to get a lot of water in after surgery, then top it off with narcotic pain medication and BAM! I spent my Thanksgiving morning in the emergency room, getting an enema and almost had to be de-impacted!! And that was after 12 hours of hell at home before-hand. OMG!!! So yes, take the stool softeners from day one, get as much water in as you can, walk, and wean yourself down on the narcotics. And maybe keep a suppository at home just in case!'

Ok, one full week since surgery! I started on oct 31 at 240, lost a good 10lbs before surgery on pre-op diet. Down now a total of 15lbs. Kinda thought I might be down more after surgery, but I know that right after surgery, I bloated up and kind of "gained" some back, which I assume is temporary. So I'll take 15lbs in 3 weeks! Still sore, trying to wean off/down on the Percocet. I'm getting in all my protein, just not all my fluid. I'm a type II diabetic and have been off all meds since the day I left the hospital, and my blood sugars are WONDERFUL now- pretty much 98-105 all the time!!!!

I had surgery on the 14th, went home the 16th. No nausea, but they always made sure I had anti-nausea meds. Sore! Like someone else said, feel like I've dove a million situps! And still haven't pooped. BUT . . I am diabetic, was on a combination oral med and a small bit of nightly insulin before surgery. HAVE NOT NEEDED ANY DIABETES MEDS SINCE MY LAST DAY IN THE HOSPITAL! Completely normal blood sugars ever since, I am so happy!!!!!

I'm scheduled the 14th. I think I'm really dreading the couple days in the hospital and the first few days at home. And I'm pretty nervous for surgery. Been doing the liquid protein diet since Halloween. It's hard but I've lost 10lbs and I'm managing. But I KNOW it's all gonna turn out just fine, and next thing you know, it will be Christmas and hopefully I'll be on soft food and feeling good about myself. Really hoping this will put my diabetes in remission.

I'm scheduled for Nov 14th and this is also Day 3 of liquid diet. Boy, I just have to think "one day at a time" and then remind myself of all the years of overindulging, I cannot feel sorry for myself for being "deprived" for 14 days! I let myself have one cup of coffee each day with 1TB creamer . . . I think that saves me!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!
missy-la replied to timetobefree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm scheduled Nov 14 in Omaha. I think us November sleeves are unique because we are all probably giving up the biggest food holiday of the year- THANKSGIVING! But I guess that will allow us to spend more time focused on what we can be truly thankful for instead of food- a healthier body and feeling better about ourselves, and everything that goes along with that! -
I have UHC, approved within a week.

I am new! But I am scheduled for surgery Nov 14th. Start liquid pre-op diet on Halloween. I'm a type II diabetic and have sleep apnea, hoping that both might GO AWAY some day! Very nervous for surgery, but ready to get going and take it on!
