Do You Still Look Forward To Food Or Enjoy It?
ecannizz replied to Bryan Whitson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't read comments so I might be in the minority but I'm having the hardest times with cravings still. I;m only 12 days out but find myself practically dreaming about things like french fries or pancakes when I feel hungry. I obviously can't have them and eat what I can (oatmeal, mashed potatoes) and after a small portion I'm satisfied. I've been lucky that everything thus far I've tried, I've tolerated and the food has curbed my appetite for the most part. Everyone is different though. Good luck with everything! -
Day before- clear fluids, day of surgery-nothing, next day after leak test- clear fluids, next day I was able to move to full fluids and I was discharged from hospital. 2 weeks on full fluids, week on pureed, week mechanical, then back to semi-normal.

Hunger Headaches After Vsg
ecannizz replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had horrible headaches after surgery for about 6 days. I thought it was dehydration but I was drinking non-stop. I figured out it had to be tension headaches- which can happen because of hunger. Don't worry, they go away, at least they did for me. -
So I had my surgery on 10/10 and was super nervous. The surgeon said everything went very well and he also repaired my hernia. I was in a lot of pain but the pain pump was a savior. I am a stomach sleeper and sleeping on my back in a hard hospital bed was THE WORST. I hate hospitals. You can never rest, always in and out and the lights are SO bright. Luckily the staff was great and that made it better. Had my leak test and no leak so started drinking water. Water was giving me heartburn but Crystal Light actually helped me get it down a lot better. I had a few breaking points of crying, just being frustrated, hoping I made the right decision, being in pain, headache from sleeping on my back, but today, 4 days out I'm feeling much better. I'm getting in my fluids and most of my protein, although that's been really hard. Finally able to sleep on my belly a little and have been to a couple of stores walking around. The diet is difficult but I know it's only temporary. So far, I'm going great and hope to continue on this path. This forum helped prepare me on what to expect and gave me a lot of perpectives. Just wanted to share my experience thus far.

Congrats! I love hearing stories of people a year or more out because it gives me so much hope and happiness. I can't lie, I already miss real food, but I just keep telling myself it's all worth it and less then two weeks I can incorporate some 'real' food!

So my surgery is 10/10/12 and I'm SO nervous. I've never had surgery before. I am nervous about being put under and dying! I know that's unlikely and I'd be worse off obese but I just want to wake up! I'm nervous about recovery but I know I can do it and it'll be worth it in the end. I guess I just need some more support right now.

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
ecannizz replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! I'm new here. I just got my surgery date on Monday and I'm having my sleeve done October 10th. I'm 25, married, no kids (none planned) and I'm very excited to begin this journey but also extremely nervous. My mom just had gastric bypass 2 1/2 months ago and so we're sort of going through this journey together. I'm 250 right now and hope to lose 110-120 pounds. I only have to do one day of liquid diet and they'd like me to lose 5-10 pounds before the surgery date. Good luck everyone! -
