My process was pretty easy. My insurance approved the surgery then I made an appointment with two different surgeons who I couldn't choose between. I had one clear winner I chose to be my surgeon. The first appointment they weigh you and talk about how you eat and exercise. They explain the whole procedure and what to expect. You can ask heaps of questions etc. Then I had blood tests, X-ray, ultra sound and an ECG. Then it was surgery time!

Good explanation, they are also known as shallots

Yes I would definitely make these without pastry too. They have a lovely fluffy consistency that I think would work. You have to let me know how they go if you try

They have 164cals each, this batch made 7. There's 200g of bacon. Without pastry they are 156cals, not that much difference coz the pastry is really thin. Delish!

what is the best birth control method
bethxxx replied to Yiraini01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on implanon, it's a small rod the doctor inserts into your upper inner arm. It lasts for 3 years but you can get it out whenever you want. I am almost up to my 5th year on implanon (had it changed once) and haven't had many problems. The only think that bothers me is that I have really irregular periods. Sometimes I don't have them for up to a year, sometimes I'll have them off and on for 2 months. I have pcos too, that didn't affect my choice of contraception though -
2 weeks post opp. & full of questions!
bethxxx replied to bigchange's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I started taking vitamins 2 weeks out. I break the big ones in half (in the beginning I quartered them). I'm taking 1 multivitamin, 3 calcium + vitamin D, half a folic acid tablet and nexium for stomach acid but I can stop that now -

Drain coming out tomorrow...
bethxxx replied to LG1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine out 4 days after surgery. There was no pain, I could hardly even feel it. It was just slightly uncomfortable. When they did mine, first they shortened the drain by cutting it then attaching a plastic bag. Then later that afternoon they slowly pulled it out and covered with a bandage. No biggie! -
Why are people so insensitive?

What an idiot! He should mind his own business -
Wow you can really see the difference. I've lost 40lbs so far but I can't really tell a big difference yet. Well done

I need to vent about this sucky pre op diet
bethxxx replied to lwilliams65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I struggled with the Pre op diet too, I was having 3 shakes, steamed veggies and salad everyday. I cheated almost everyday.... Anyway now I'm almost 4 weeks out and feel great, had no problems thankfully -

Surgery yesterday, not bad
bethxxx replied to trujiyi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was in hospital I walked around my ward every hour and it helped a lot with gas pains. Every time I had more gas pains I walked more. Even in the middle of the night. I learnt to sleep on my back pretty easily even though I never did before surgery. I had to wake up every few hours for more pain killers so I didn't get much sleep until I got home. Hope everything goes smoothly -
I kept my acrylic nails on for surgery but had to take the nail polish off my toes for them to check something. Can't really remember what. My surgeon said no to gel nails though, didn't bother me because I never get them.

Ahh ok thanks

Does anyone know... Is protein powder different from the meal replacement shakes?

Awesome!!! Great achievement. I've already bought something and I'm waiting to fit into it haha

I'm 3 weeks out and I can have ice water now, I'm guessing that will get easier for you. I know what you mean about not feeling like eating. I find myself forgetting to eat and having to force something down. I'm sure things will get better though. Patience patience

Leak Test Question........
bethxxx replied to Sleeved_4.3.13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It didn't hurt at all for me. The liquid tastes pretty terrible but I only had to take 3 small mouthfuls -
I think people don't know what to expect And because of that they can come across a bit rude. When I told a friend at 3 weeks out that I'm down 40lbs she said I thought you would have lost more by now. I don't know what she meant by it but I think she does doesn't understand. Don't let it get to you!!

NERVES are running crazy here
bethxxx replied to rabbitlloy2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I felt exactly the same!! But I can say I am almost 3 weeks out and feeling great! I had pretty bad gas pain but walking helped heaps. I've lost almost 40lbs Pre and post op. Good luck to you all, I'm sure you'll be feeling good soon too -
Hi, I had surgery on the 21st of January so I'm almost 3 weeks out and I'm worried my calories are too high. I am on puréed foods now and I am getting about 800-900 cals a day. I have been at the same weight for almost a week. All together I have lost almost 40lbs so far, 26 of those were Pre op. Just wondering how many calories people were getting at this stage?

Well I might take my measurements again tonorrow, I think I'm having to much juice not enough water after looking back at what I've been consuming
