Biking feels harder but burns less calories then elliptical?
bethxxx replied to mikeross's topic in Fitness & Exercise
When you use an elliptical trainer your whole body is engaged and your working every major muscle group compared to the bike where you are seated and mostly working the legs. You burn a lot more calories on an elliptical machine then on a bike but it is beneficial to change it up every now and then so your body doesn't get to used to the exercise. -
Yay well done to both of you!! Hope recovery goes well x

Does anyone work out at work?
bethxxx replied to smithle85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work at a bakery so I can't exactly do anything at work and I'm on my feet all day anyway. But my sister has an office job and she uses her work gym sometimes but she prefers to go to the park across the road from her work on her lunch break or after work and do a boot camp style circuit workout. I think it's a good idea to go before or at work because afterwards you just want to relax. If you have some workouts on DVD that might be a good idea but people might think your a bit strange if they walk into your office and your doing Zumba or something haha -
30 day SQUAT CHALLENGE, who is in?
bethxxx replied to judy79's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That looks like a pretty good program. I'm Going to do this test today where you start off with one squat then rest 30 seconds then 2 squats then rest 30 seconds then 3 squats then rest and so on until you can't do any more reps. I saw it on the biggest loser the guy got up to like 450 squats! -
A Rant: Did you not read anything on this site before asking? Are you new here?!
bethxxx replied to rebecca_dsu's topic in Rants & Raves
I just find this post rude. Everyone has the right to ask whatever questions they want, it doesn't matter if its been posted before, they can still ask. This place is supposed to be for support. Should people just read what other people have posted and never get involved? That person might not find much support just reading other people's posts compared to if they posted the thread themselves. Besides if every topic was only posted once there wouldn't be anyone posting anything because its all been said!! If you see a topic that you already know about or have already read, why don't you just keep scrolling. It doesn't even effect you at all really -

Thought I would share another update. This photo has the following stats: Before 248lbs After 171lbs I still want to lose another 30-40lbs but I'm happy with how far I have come -
I bought a pair of New Balance shoes. They have extra cushioning for comfort and they have arch support. They are so comfortable and good to run in

Two days to go and feeling wobbly
bethxxx replied to Sydney Susan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hello! I am only 3 months out and have fallen in love with food in a completely different way compared with before surgery. Before I liked to shovel food into my mouth until I was very uncomfortably full. Now I love food for the taste, the different textures, what it feels like in my mouth, the social aspect and trying new things. Last week my partner took me to a really nice tapas place in Sydney city, it was perfect because everyone shares so I don't have to waste any food. And for my 21st he is taking me to one of the top restaurants in Melbourne. If your like me the love affair isn't over, it's just going to be different. It's hard at first but just make sure you take the time to really enjoy and savor every mouthful. Good luck!!! -
Congratulations!!!! You look fabulous

When do you stop feeling hungry?
bethxxx replied to CoreyCan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 months out and I remember being starving for the first couple of weeks. I won't sugar coat it, I still get hungry now. But then I eat something and the hungers gone. So just like before surgery really. It will get better!!!! -
Yay congratulations!!! I am 12 weeks out also and have lost 46lbs. Go us!

Not happy today, any suggestions?
bethxxx replied to kari61's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a stall at about the same time that lasted almost 3 weeks, then I started loosing weight again. You just have to wait it out -
People acting differently?
bethxxx replied to Takingcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I've noticed and it's amazing. I look at it like this, there are two possibilities. First I am so much more confident now that I've lost the weight that people are more drawn to talk to me, or that I am more attractive now so people want to talk to me. And either way that's awesome to me. I have men stare at me, shop assistants talk to me when I'm buying clothes, people start conversations with me. I haven't got this much attention since school!! It doesn't tick me off because it makes me feel good about myself -
Dancing vs walking
bethxxx replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't think you would be able to dance, I know after surgery I could only walk VERY slowly, more of a shuffle I guess. I just wore loose pajama pants and a very loose shirt. -
How much weight did you loose pre-op?
bethxxx replied to Readytobeskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the 9 months prior to my surgery I lost 27lbs. Very slow for nine months. Now almost 3 months after surgery I've lost 42lbs. That's 69lbs all up!! So I'm very happy. I'm sure your weight loss will be faster after surgery -
Blood Clot Prevention Shots
bethxxx replied to LifeBackNye7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Coming to terms with myself before surgery
bethxxx replied to TonyaMac's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Goon on you!!! Well done for standing up for yourself, what a brave woman you are. And what a stupid woman you work with. I have also become "that girl" to my partners friends as he went and told them all without me knowing. I never knew that all his friends knew until last night at dinner one of them asked me about it. I feel like they are probably all talking behind my back as the surgery is pretty uncommon here, I don't know anyone who has had it and neither has his friends who I've spoken too. So now I picture when I'm introduced to someone, it would pop into their heads "oh that's that girl who had that surgery"... Anyway I don't really care coz I've lost so much weight they can all obviously see its working. Good luck with everything -
Lets talk about sex...

I think you just need to remember that insensitive people like that often say things offhandedly that other people would take offense too. But that person doesn't realise that they are being offensive. I think if you were going to say something you should have done it there and then but now that the moments passed you shouldn't bring it up again. I only say that because I've worked for small family businesses before and they will talk about you
