    The bad and the ugly

Hmmm I haven't had too much bad and ugly but I will say, if you over eat the reflux is disgusting!! I actually regurgitate food into my mouth its awful. But it means I don't over eat very often. Also I have lost a lot of hair, my relationship with my sister has suffered badly, and sometimes I just want to eat a big steak!!!
  4. How tall are you? Have you been exercising? I've been exercising on my own and I'm starting with a personal trainer on Monday

    Really disgusted

My mother in law was the only one I had to deal with this from. I didn't even want her to know (needless to say I wasn't the one who told her). She tried to convince me not to do it and to keep trying to lose weight. When I told her politely but firmly that I have done a lot of research and that my decision is finally she said "well just remember when your sick for the rest of your life that this was all your fault" Anyway now I'm 30lbs from goal, wearing size 10 skinny jeans and feeling great and she is just bitter. When she saw my before and after, her response was "yeah anyone can do that, even I could do that" (she is a lot more overweight then I ever was). Anyway I say just ignore them. If you must respond tell them you have done a lot of research, you understand the risk and you have made your decision.

HUNGRY A LOT OF THE TIME?

I am almost 6 months out, 95lbs down and I still get hungry. It's strange though its not the same as before surgery. I get hungry, then I eat and I get full very quickly, then in about an hour I'm really hungry again. It gets kind of annoying because I get so hungry I have to eat every hour. So I end up buying lots of food while I'm out and throwing it out because I can't finish it!!
  7. You don't need much for the hospital, loose clothes, slippers, a book, iPod and headphones, toiletries and a jumper. Hmm maybe order a size 16 just to be safe and you can get it taken in? Or a 14

    Strawberries

I love strawberries I eat them all the time! I'm 5 months out. The other day I melted chocolate and dipped the strawberries in then put them in the fridge to set. Not the healthiest option but sooo delicious to have occasionally

    Suddenly Sad....

I sometimes feel like this too, I think it's because for me, everything in my life changed all at once. I had the surgery, a few days later I lost my job, and a few days after that I moved house! So everything in my life was different AND I was trying to deal with my new tummy. I was pretty emotional haha. Anyway now I feel great, never been happier. I think it's something most of a go through after surgery and it's pretty normal. Jut focus on the good things, you may not be eating what your family eats but soon you will be able to do what they do (ride bikes, play in the park, run around outside ect) and which would you prefer?

    Gym etiquette.....is it just me......

If he isn't actually using the weights then he can't complain when someone else starts using them. I actually had a similar situation but it was with a group of 5 or 6 men aged aprox 17- 23 years old all crowding around trying to hog the machines for themselves, sometimes not even to use them... To sit on!!! They would just sit on the machines and chat. Anyway my friend and I were sick of all the free weights never being put back on the rack and never really being available to use so we told someone at the gym. This group actually got banned from the gym in the end. We were apparently not the first ones to complain about them and when someone said something to them they started vandalizing the front of the gym.... So your guy might not be as much of a hooligan but you could still ask the gym manager to explain to him that he needs to put the weights back when he isn't using them and that once he leaves the weights, they are free for others to use. P.s don't worry about him making a scene, I'm sure the other people in the gym were on your side and thought he was a moron!

    Preop liver reduction.

I was on a very similar pre op diet for 2 weeks to shrink my liver. It involved 3 shakes a day and 2 cups of leafy green veggies. I really struggled, I added in extra fruit and veggies (after confirming it was ok with my surgeon) which helped. Drinking heaps and heaps of Water helps as well, put a squeeze of lemon juice to liven it up. Good luck and keep reminding yourself, this is only for a short time and sticking to this will help you in the long run to reach your goals!!
