    Beer

Unfortunately Arcus, no you can't get it at BevMo From the Yuengling website: Where does Yuengling distribute beer? Can beer be shipped to me? Unfortunately, federal law prohibits us from shipping beer directly to you. Yuengling is a regional brewery that has manufacturing facilities in Pottsville PA and Tampa FL. It simply is not logistically feasible to transport beer outside of our current footprint. All of our beer reaches retailers through our wholesale partners. Yuengling is currently distributed in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Not to get too off topic, but quite simply, for anyone who went to college in or around Philly / Southeast PA, this was THE beer that represented the transition away from the toilet Water varieties of Natty Light, Beast, Bud, MGD, Coors, etc. that permeated everything on or near campus, and graduated you to "beer snob in training" status. No, it's not the best tasting, but it was always cheap and certainly better than the standard fare available at the time --- this was before the craft microbrew boom, of course. (On a related note: Damn I miss college!)
  2. I think the best part about Halloween for me this year is that I will be 6 days post-sleeve, so there'll be no eating up all the "leftover" candy. I swear, the same 9 or 10 kids come by trick or treating every year, yet I'd always find an excuse to buy the 50-piece candy bag.... "just in case." LOL, no more! And hopefully next year I'll be able to use a regular-sized costume and stop dressing up as the "fat ____ (fill in the blank)" guy.

    Beer

As a former semi-professional beer chugger and amateur homebrewer, the giving up of beer was a chief concern of mine. But, as with everything else, you just have to buck up and do what's right for yourself. I've already given away all my homebrew equipment and made the transition to the (occasional) scotch. But man, I do miss yuengling. Can't get that out here in Cali.

    Oct Sleevers

Hey Chad, Congrats to you bro. Great to see another guy on here in the OctoSleevers group (no offense ladies, you are all AWESOME!!!) My surgery is 10/25. I need to be under 350 but I hope to actually be under 340 by then. Best of luck. And you're right: We CAN do this!

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Thanks Susan! You rock!!! Well, I'm not an N.C. State fan.... but I have been to several bachelor parties in Vegas (boy I'm gonna miss those...) so the name has a very different meaning to me I guess. BTW when I looked at your list it totally floored me. 150+ OctoSleevers??!!!??!!! When I first started researching this as an option a few months ago I had no idea how popular it was. It is so great to feel like we're not going through this alone. Good luck to all!
  6. I too was worried about post-op tastes changing and ordered a whole bunch of samples from various online places that have been mentioned elsewhere on these forums. So far I only really like 2 or 3 different brands. Hopefully I'll like more after surgery? (fingers crossed)

    Diet Coke Junkies

I agree that giving up my daily (or thrice daily) Diet Coke/Pepsi is going to be one of the hardest things to do. I have done like a few others and have recently made the slow weaning switch to caffeine free. I tried drinking a flat one today and wound up dumping half of it so maybe I am on my way!

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Hello all! I've been reading through these forums for a few weeks now and finally I decided to join this amazing and supportive community. This is my first post and I'm excited (and admittedly a little scared) to share that my surgery date has just been scheduled for Oct 25th! Susan, I hope it's not too late to add me to your "OctoSleevers" list!!! (I love that name BTW) Thank you to all for helping me finally take charge of my life.
