  1. Guys, help! I am so worried my sleeve is stretched out I just ate 5 1/2 ounces of a combination of chicken and rice in some peanut sauce, it comes out to almost 2/3 a cup. I am a little over 7 months out, and I am so scared my sleeve is huge! Can anyone help or give advice? I'm really worried my stomach is too big, especially since most people on here say that they can only eat 2 or so ounces. I know that eventually out sleeves are supposed to hold a little more, but I feel like that comes way father out, like a year or so! So my concern is that my sleeve is going to continue to get big and by a year out I'll be able to eat like I used to! This may sound irrational, but I am very fearful! Please help if you can!

    5 1/2 OUNCES?

Thanks! I'm one of those people who eats the same thing...so lots of tuna salad and pre-cooked turkey sausage (jimmy dean)...which I guess is not as "dry" as some of the other meats, but i would think they are as dense? I'll try incorporating chicken into my meals and see if I can see restriction there.

    5 1/2 OUNCES?

I wasn't overeating, that is why I'm concerned...I ate until I was full. Four months ago I was full off of one ounce of nuts, but now I can easily eat two cheese sticks just as a snack and not feel a thing! I am only human, but I do try not to overeat and weigh my food. But sometimes I fail.
  5. I am so worried!!! I am 6 1/2 months out and feel as if my sleeve is too big! I used to be able to get extremely full off of 1 ounce of nuts, and now I can eat 4 ounces of tuna! Is this normal?? Have I somehow ruined my sleeve??? Ahhhh please please please give me advice lol Thanks!

    Is My Sleeve Too Big?

Mastiff_mama, did your doc specify exactly when your stomach is fully healed?

    Is My Sleeve Too Big?

buffalogal, thanks for the response. It frightens me that now I'm eating closer to 800 calories a day. I only have 30 pounds until goal weight, but the less restriction thing has been playing games with me mentally and I all of a sudden have so much doubt on whether I will reach my goal weight or not.

    Is My Sleeve Too Big?

Sleeve of Steel, it is from one of those pouches that you find right next to the cans lol
  9. Hey everyone, hopefully someone can help me out! So as the title says I'm 6 1/2 months out and I'm wondering how many calories a day I should be having. I want to average around 2 pounds of weight loss a week. I currently keep my calories from 450-550, but is this too little? I am considering increasing my intake to 600-700 calories a day, especially now that I'm farther out. I'll be honest, I don't work out. I did in the beginning and of course in the end there is no excuse, but being a full-time college student it's hard to get to the gym when an essay is due the next day! LOL So, if you guys can be so kind as to tell me how many calories a day should I be aiming for if I want to lose 2 pounds a week and don't exercise. THANKS Also, I have noticed that 2oz no longer makes me as full! I'm satisfied with 2 oz, but I could easily at least eat another ounce, maybe more! That worries me SO MUCH! I am worried I've stretched my sleeve
  10. Went to Anne Taylor yesterday and bought a size 10 and size 8 in two zip up dresses! I literally could not believe it, I have NEVER been able to wear a dress with a zipper, and now I can fit into 10s and 8s! 96 pounds down, feeling AMAZING
  11. Has anyone reached their goal weight despite gaining a couple pounds here or there, or becoming side-tracked at some point in their journey? Basically I'm interested to hear about people who didn't give up despite their failures and what not. Thanks :}
  12. So I am not the poster child when it comes to wls, I mess up and eat things I shouldn't but I'm okay with my behavior because I am consistently losing and I wanted to make this a lifestyle change, not another diet that would make me miserable. Anyway...I sometimes creep into old habits (for pre-op people, vsg will fix the physical but WON'T FIX THE MENTAL) such as eating out of boredom or eating in binges (nothing like before surgery, but def more than what I need). So I found myself first snacking on a 100 calorie pack of almonds, which was fine. Then I had a magic pop, more nuts, a couple of chips, and finally nutella. Now I'm sitting here feeling absolutely nasty and this nutella is giving me a headache, it was so disgustingly sweet! So I was wondering if anyone has any advice to avoid these old behaviors, it's almost as if I go on autopilot. One hour of removing my stomach is not going to change 19 years of poor eating habits lol! I would love some help if anyone has experienced this (and hopefully overcome it!) Thanks

    Learning Experience!

My insurance didn't cover it, so I was self-pay. Therefore, I didn't have to go to one, nor did I want to since I wasn't mandatory. But I'm thinking that maybe going to one, just once to see if I like it, might be worth it.
  15. So I'm a college student, 19 years old and we're I'm the middle of finals week. I was offered a cigarette and I took it. Please don't lecture me, I know I shouldn't and trust me it won't become a habit, and I don't plan on doing it anytime soon again, but I'm only human and I'm uber stressed and I caved in. My question is, being four months out should I be concerned about getting an ulcer from one cigarette?? Please be nice...like I said I'm not stupid I know what I did wasn't a wise choice but it was a one time thing and like I said it is not a habit or anything like that. Thanks

Can I See Meals/portion Sizes Please?

During the week of thanksgiving, family and I went to burger joint, and I split sliders with my mom. There was three to an order, and she ate two and I ate one patty and maybe half the bun that goes with it. And this week I went to chick-fil-a and got the four piece count of the grilled chicken nuggets. Ate the first two in the car and felt satisfied and then the other two an hour or so later. I can eat more, but I only eat until I'm satisfied, or at least try to lo

    What Breaks Your Stall

I know it's going to sound crazy, but for the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) eat foods you wouldn't eat. Like if you go out to a restraunt get some protein (obviously) but make sure it's a little on the indulgent side. Like for me, we go to this seafood place and I get bacon wrapped shrip stuffed with cheese and that seems to do the trick! And don't worry about the content, sometimes your body needs some fat and carbs to help speed up the process! And it can't be that bad for you, considering I can only eat two and then I'm stuffed Basically, on a Saturday and Sunday don't count calories and eat what you feel like...it always works for me
  18. So I'm three months post op, lost 70 pounds so far, but this past two weeks or so I've noticed I've been overheating or times and haven't made the best choices. I'm still losing, but the thing is I don't want to get into old habits. I have noticed that especially when I eat with others (I live alone and eat alone most of the time) I tend to eat WAY faster and more than what I typically do. Has anyone experienced this? My biggest fear is stretching out my sleeve, I still don't eat much (dinner we went to a fancy restraint and I had half a ravioli, two bites of short rib, a shrimp, and a spoonful of mashed potatoes) but I am so worried I'm going to mess up my stomach! With the dinner described I was absolutely stuffed and I hated it! Does anyone have any advice for me, I don't want to undo the hard work I've done so far!
  19. Hey everyone! I'm a college student, sophomore to be exact, and I was sleeved in July 2012. So, I was wondering, who else on here is a college student??? I'd love to meet some people who can kind of relate to some of the struggles of being a weight loss surgery patient and being in school. Thanks, look forward to hearing from some people!

    College Students?

I agree Maggie! School work plus exercise is difficult, I couldn't imagine juggling a job too! But I will say, one of the biggest NSV I've had is not only fitting into the desks and lecture hall seats, but actually having room to wiggle about!

    College Students?

So what about working out? How are you guys doing with exercise, finding it hard or easy to keep up with?

    College Students?

I feel you! The workload really has an affect on me! I'm not complaining, but having so many papers due this semester has definitely had its toll on me haha!
  23. I can obviously only speak for myself, but I enjoy food. Remembering previous diets, where if I even had a bite of something on accident, my whole day would be ruined! I would be on diets that made me miserable! Lean protein and the blandest of fruits/veggies (I couldn't even eat stuff like corn or bananas!) Now, while I still make a conscious effor to eat the right things, it's a broad spectrum of things that I eat. Food can no longer be my enemy, if I wasn't hating it I was abusing it! Now, I enjoy food because I eat in moderation and I no longer experience guilt or anxiety about the things I eat. Some things do taste different and you might not like some things post op that you liked pre op (I can't even think about grape powerade zero, whereas I used to drink it daily!) but overall I eat only what I enjoy, or I wouldn't eat! Haha...but in all honesty the thing I enjoy most about food is now I don't constantly think about it or crave it, which is huge for me, and that above all is better than the physical enjoyment of food, especially taste.
  24. Weighed in at 197 this morning! I'm one week shy of my three month mark and I feel great! Some progress... I actually don't know my starting pant size because I wore sweats the final year before getting sleeved, I didn't wear jeans for probably the better part of two years because I was so ashamed! But the biggest pair I have in my possession is a stretchy pair of 18 pants, but I was at least a 20 Now I'm wearing a size 16 comfortably, with room to spare Again, with shirts the highest I have is XXL because for the last year up until surgery I wore oversized tee shirts and huge hoodies Now I'm wearing between a XL/L, depending on what brand it is It makes me sad to realize I wore the same stuff for a whole year! And sometimes I do get discouraged because I see that with 60 pounds gone I've only changed one shirt and pant size...but then I remember that these new sizes are actual clothes such as jeans and nice blouses, where as before it was sweats and hoodies So today I'm proud of myself, I'm becoming more and more comfortable each day and I know without the sleeve it wouldn't have been possible! I love my sleeve and I am finally experiencing life instead of watching it pass me by plagued by fear! I think me not being so critical of myself might even be an NSV for me lol!
