niamh started following I knew it would happen, but I wasn't expecting this! I might be bald soon!, weight loss, how is this even possible? and and 4 others

Nothing at all to worry about. People's bodies react very differently after surgery. The important thing to focus on at this stage is post-op recovery, taking care of your healing tummy. Do everything right and the weight loss will follow in time.

how is this even possible?
niamh replied to katie.c's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's common. I was put on a PPI from day two and it really helped. I didn't have reflux prior to surgery. Took the PPI for about four to five months and haven't needed it since then. -

am 6 mts out and when does the belly fat go away

The way that people's fat is distributed when they put weight on, and lose it, is very individual. I don't think you'll find a reliable answer! Be patient -
Some people do seem to have stitches they have to take out. I had dissolvable stitches so didn't have to remove any. Your doctor will give you instructions on what you need to do post-op.

I am in the UK and self-paid for surgery on September 22, 2012. My surgeon was Christopher Sutton in Leicestershire and I had a fantastic experience; having never had any medical or surgical procedures before, it all went very much to plan and I felt well looked after by the team in hospital. I lost about 18lbs pre-op, and have lost another 35 or so since. I'm really pleased with the progress I've made. So pleased to be moving into 2013, knowing that I'm well on my way to good health. Good luck to everyone on the site.

I've eaten salmon again since then without difficulty. The dumping syndrome I found to be really no worse than when I've had diarrhoea due to eating something slightly dodgy.

Yep some people get hair loss from any surgery with anaesthesia. All you can do is eat your protein and take supplements and hope for the best, but you ultimately can't control whether you're one of the people who loses hair or not. I still don't know how I'll go - I feel like I'm losing more than usual but I might just be a little hypervigilant. I figure if it gets bad, I'll wear some kooky hats for a while. Totally worth it in the bigger scheme of things. -

mzrich sounds like you're still just expelling some of the excess gas post-surgery. Not dumping syndrome. I've had dumping a couple of times when i've eaten food with a higher fat content (like the first time I had salmon). Got shaky and sweaty then had diarrhoea within about 20 minutes of eating. Unpleasant but passed quickly enough.
