Laura, I have been uncomfortable since the 6th. I developed an allergy to the glue and the swelling, and itching have spread over my entire stomach and starteed toward my back. i went and got prescriptions yesterday and stated on anti-biotics. So you are not alone, my friend. I have been having to go back on the pain meds in order to get some sleep at night. The itching drives me out of my mind! BUT, none the less, I am still doing well. I have had no problem getting my liquids and proteins in. I have lost 16 pounds since the 6th. So keep the faith. Try not to compare yourself to others just keep on keepin' on. Doing your best, is good enough, you will get through it. Peace, Ainslee

I love the Unjury CHicken broth. It is very mils flavored and a like warm soothing temp. Very easy for me. I also posted in the past about freezing Isopure in to small cubes. I freezw them and take them out other wise they want to stick. I leave them in a tupperware bowl and try not to make more than a days worth. I cannot drink Isopure either. -
I had to stop the pain meds after day 3, they were taking me waaaaaaaay to far out of my head. So mostly suffering.Hang in there they say it get much better by day 10.

Lost 10 pounds since the 6th. I am still umcomfortable but for other reasons. I am now allergic to the glue they used for my stitches. Trying to deal with that. I also had the thigh nerve numbness from being obese, the Doctor said it will go away but in the meantime, It has stepped up to hypersensitivity and I am being electrocuted everytime Anything touches my thigh. ARGH. Good luck everyone coming up. We are not hearing back from too many post ops yet.

You will always have a choice about it. You can choose to back to unhealthy eating habits and gain the weight back or you can choose to be a success, choose healthy food and choose to stay healthy the rest of your life. You deserve to live life to it's fullest. And that doesn't mean stomach! What I am noticing is that even , though I am sleeping a lot, I have a lot of time on my hands that normally would be consumed with, planning, shopping, making, and eating food. Spend this time wisely be your cheerleader that you want to be healthy, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. YOU CAN DO IT.--------------------MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICES------------------------------

The Dec. group doesn't even have 5 pages and it's already the 12. I don't know if we can make it happen but I am happy to try to support you in creating that. I even suggessted members of Dec. take the time to read Novembers group because it was SO active and has sooooooomuch information. Ainslee -

LONG. I guess I am ready to update. My surgery was Dec. 6. I was an active member of November sleevers because I was scheduled for the 27th. The doctor asked me to have it done on the 6th (because he knew in advance, that I had a hiatal hernia) so he could use it as a training/conference call, surgery, video. Surgery was 7:30 AM. I don't have much recollection of that day. In fact the first 2 days were a blur. I was seeing double and hallucinationing and talking aloud, to noone. I was often confused and once in the night I woke up claustrophobic. I have 5 tiny incisions, that were glued shut. 2nd day around 3PM I have my barium leak test. I did OK with that until the nurse and the Doctor started talking about putting a cathetor in the nose (of another patient). I had to tell them to stop talking or I was going to throw up. They were very apologetic afterward. Buy day 3 I was ready to go home, because I couldn't stand it anymore. I had a beautiful private room, with a view of the Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. The nurses were nice but I also have very small and very deep viens. When the First IV puled out of the vein, my vessels started to fill and swell and it was very painful. So they had to do it in my other hand. 3 different people, 3 different tries and digging around. I had my first BM in the middle of the 2nd night and the nurse was all excited because 3 or her bariatric patients all pooped on the same night. Woohoo. So anyway, i got to come home yesterday and slept a lot. I have barely been awake for 28 hours. I was confused by all the anti-nasaua/vomiting/gas pills I got and didn't know what to take, or when. The nicest choices for me are tiny, frozen ispure (in different flavors) and tiny, frozen chrystal light lemonade flavor. I can eat them all day. Also, I like chicken unjury. I make it per the instructions and add a bit of hot water when it gets cold. that is about it in the food dept. for now. I figure if I just do that for now, In a day, I will get in 61 proteins, and at least, 40 oz of liquid. If I write a bit oddly, I am doing my best. It takes a lot of effort on my part. I wanted to write and tell of my expereince becasue I thought I was totally prepared and well read and informed about everything, But I wasn't. Ainslee -

Too thin sounds like words of jealous people. I have heard that all my life. Whenever I diet and get where I want to be somone tells me that. Guess what, weight goes back on.So what I have been doing is asking for support and part of that is NOT to tell me I look too thin. My Doctor and I will be the judge of that. Think about it. Ainslee

FYI. Little known fact. I had an interesting converstion at GNC jsut before my op. I went in to buy some more Isopure. There was a guy there buying about $250.00 worth of stuff. ON sale from $500. I asked him if he had ever tired Ispure and he said yes, it's very good. If you have an intolerance to protein that is the one to take. Oh Thanks, said I. When he left the store I asked the worker about that. He said the intolerance ususally takes form as gastrointentional issues.. The Isopure is the purest form of protein you can take. -

Someone earlier posted about Smooth Move Tea. Alvailable at all heath food stores and here in SF it is sold in Safeway and many supermarkets. Not only helps you go but you get liquids in too and it is a natural supplement. -

26 Days Out, And Can't Eat Much Food At A Time, And Not Much Of An Appetite Either!
Ainsleet commented on NewBeginningsForMe2012's blog entry in Kathy Tyler's Blog
I belong to a monthly support group and one of the women who is currently 5 months out, says she eats her 2 oz of protein and is usually full. She ALWAYS eats that first and then starts on a veggie. It was suggested by her nut that she buy a beautiful 6" plate and have every meal on it. That way she will retrain her brain as to portion size and she will start feeeling like she has cleaned her plate. She sets her phone to remind herself to eat regularly because she has little to no appetite.. Good luck. Ainslee -
It is my understanding that no one will be released from the hospital without a leak test. So if not, don't take no for an answer. Ainslee

Best wishes Monday sleevers. You are the leaders of this month. Rock it.

Hey Coy, my date is the 6th at 7:30 AM. You joined this group on my birthday and I am 61, my surgery will be in San francisco. No pre-op diet for me either. I am pretty much doing the things you are doing. I cut way back on carbs and fats. I do liquids all day Wednesday. I suggest making small isopure icecubes that you can pop in your mouth. Everyone says their mouth is so dry. I figure it will kill 3 birds with one stone. Sooth the dry mounth, get protein and you can chew it which will help satisfy the desire to chew. Good luck with the ride. If all else fails, how about a cab? Not that I would want to do that either. I prefer a friends support and love. Ainslee

Don't worry. You are one pound ahead of schedule. Don't weigh yourself every day. It can cause stress like this. Just stay the course. And hydrate. Best wishes, Ainslee -
Kate so glad to hear from you. I am sorry you are struggleing. It won't be long. Just be sure and hydate try freezing the Isopure or Mio water. Ainslee

OMG, Have I got a tip for ya'll. Isopure aka Isoyuk. I bought grape flavor, hated it. Today I froze about 1 oz. in an icecube tray. Maybe a bit less so I could pop it right into my mouth. Guess what, fantastic. It tastes kind of like a no sugar added, grape propsicle. I am psyched. Lets get our fluid and proteins however we can!!!!!!!! Ainslee -
