  2. I went ahead and started week 2 rather than repeating week 1 and the first day went ok. Woo! I may have to repeat this week before going on to week 3- that last 90 second run was definitely tougher than the first one. Hope everyone is doing well!
  3. Yea enterprise! I'm glad he is going to be able to do your surgery for the show! I like that he is honest about the scars. Doctors who downplay potential complications/outcomes drive me nuts good luck with your journey- not too much longer!!!
  4. ok- I can see how if you are heavier to begin with the more weight will come off at first- agreed but I still don't see how a blanket statement of "if you take it off slowly, you will keep it off" is correct. If you are losing fat>> muscle it shouldn't matter about the rate of weight loss from a physiology standpoint. For some people, if they lose weight at a slower rate- it allows them to mentally adjust to the changes they are needing to make; possibly they will lose more fat than muscle (not always true) and by maintaining muscle mass be more efficient at burning calories than if they lost equal fat/muscle with fast weight loss. For those who are building muscle with resistance, exercise, adequate Protein intake- fast weight loss shouldn't be any less effective long term.

  6. Losin- hope that changing your shoes helps! Finished week 1 day 3. Today was harder than days 1 or 2; I'm definitely going to repeat this week before moving on.
  7. I don't think there is any specific data that supports this. If you are developing the right habits, exercising to make certain you aren't losing a ton of muscle, the speed of weight loss shouldn't influence long term success.

  10. Your wife would be happy to know she can send your heart racing. I'm getting into the 160's. It's ok my maximum is 181 and its never gotten that high; that's why I'm going to do this at least one more time before going to week 2. Same thing happened with me when I started the eliptical. Ce la vie

    Motivate Me

    You can do it! I've read (and don't know how true this is) it takes at least 3-6 months to make something a set habit. It will be work at first but soon exercise will be part of your daily routine! I chose to give up a little sleep so that I could be certain I get my exercise in before work. Up at 430 am so I can do 45+ cardio minutes and then 3 days a week work with a trainer with weights. It makes a huge difference with the weight loss but more importantly, I swear all that crap they say about exercise giving you more energy and helping you to feel better- its true! I notice the difference if I go more than 1 day without a planned cardio activity. If you are willing to put yourself through a surgery that has serious potential risks (even though the risks are small), exercise will help you get the most out of that investment in you

Yikes- hang in there- I went through a period where my weight was stable for 2-3 weeks then I lost in big bursts; I still do that now- 1-2 lbs a week (no lbs around TOM) and then all of a sudden a week of 4-5 lbs. instant gratification is great if you can get it! (I'm that way too) - it is frustrating cause I'm ready to be thin NOW! You can do it! did week 1 day 2 today- thanks for yall's speed tips - I went up on my walk to 3.8 and run to 4.1-4.3 and didn't die so all seems good! I definitely am going to have to repeat week 1; possibly 1 or 2 times before moving on- my heart rate is going sky high on the last 2 runs

  15. Thanks ya'll- that does help! I wasn't certain if the goal at first is to just get running/jogging whatever you want to call it then to work on speed or to do both at the same time jmcambra- sorry about the work woes!
  16. that's great! to get your HCT back up to 38 I'd suggest really taking Iron supplements if you can get them down the band or pushing foods with iron- it will help! can't wait to hear about your inner thigh lift- that's the surgery I think I'll need more than anything else and it seems a bit daunting.
  17. oops- missed that yall moved on to this thread that's what I get for skimming and not reading the thread titles! saw this addressed briefly by one person- when yall were starting, what did you do for speed?? I was doing 4 mph on the treadmill - definitely slow but dont' know if I should do that for week 1 (which I'm going to repeat) before going to week 2 or try to boost the speed a bit at first suggestions?? (my heiny doesn't know what the hell happened to it. The eliptical doesn't work it like running does ) __________________

  22. Ok -yall inspired me. I tried again and was able to complete week 1 day 1. WOOO! of course my run was more of a fat person shuffle but I did it. Woo! thanks for inspiring us LJM!!!

    Wheetsin, got a question for you...

    aaah. I used to be a mac hater but now own 3 different macs. Once you get used to the lack of the right click button, its all icing on the cake. I have a dell that I use at work- some of the healthcare software doesn't run well on the macs- even with Citrix or parallels. It's been very reliable. Macs, however, IMO kick all kinds of ass. They are just pricey however
