Renewedhope is Headed for the Flatlands
mcgreen replied to renewedhope's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
good luck!!! my surgery is next Thursday- I'm thinking happy thoughts for you and a speedy recovery  -
I did the same with my lapband- consult then surgery only a couple of weeks later. Having this much time to think about it is stressing me out! I'm doing a lower body lift with breast reduction/lift good luck!
-
congrats! I'm following you in October- are you getting nervous?? How much time are you taking off work??
-
hi all! I apologize for being MIA and not having a lot of backreading time- work has been killing me. I did week 4 for the freaking 2nd time last week and it was harder for me than the first time I did it! I am so frustrated right now. I couldn't even finish the 2nd run last 5 minutes. For the 3rd run I went a bit slower and added 30 seconds of walking in between runs and it was ok. I'm going to do week 4 a third time. ugh. we'll see. hope everyone is well!
-
quick post from my meeting - did week 4 day 3 today and I couldn't complete the 2nd 5 minute run- did 3 minutes and had to walk for 2 before I finished :scared2: oh well. I was planning on repeating but don't know why today was harder. good luck to all!

that's great! I'm glad your PS was cool enough to take those photos! Hopefully mine will as well and the photo on your blog of you in the tank- you look amazing!!! hope you continue to feel better!!!

Karey- Holy hell! I'm so glad you are safe and ok and still banded. What trauma! Please take care of yourself and the new bandsters diet will get you to goal! What a hard way to get there though! Hope you feel better soon! TexasBecky is right- you rock and only good things should happen to people as kind and helpful as you are  -

you are lucky to have those facilities, laura! I travel about 4-5 times a month, usually stay in a hotel without a kitchen and have a hard time packing food with me. I'm going to work my hardest this weekend to stay on goal. I know I'm doing a dinner out at a fabulous resturant saturday night so to allow for that, I've got meals planned and protein bars to ensure my calories will be negative for the weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I can do it! -
glad you are back! hang in there- it takes a LONG time to make something like this a habit- talking yourself into exercise is just as important as talking yourself out of eating junk! yea! congrats on your first run and welcome! I can't imagine the hardships and joy that must come from your children- thank you for being there for them! I'm a little over 1 year out from my bandiversary too You can definitely get the rest of the weight off! agreed. and no one looks at me twice in the gym. I'm just another person trying to get in shape/lose weight thanks for the support! How long did it take for you to enjoy running? I have 3 friends who run marathons and each one of them state they hate the first 2-3 miles always but once they get to mile 4 and then post running, they love it and that's what keeps them going. I was not certain if that was encouraging or not You can do it! It does get easier! welcome to bandland! I'm sorry you had dry heaves but am glad all is well. I remember feeling very swollen the entire first month and it really helped me to stay on liquids then softs. Your surgeon will likely advise when you can exercise again- listen to your body and walk at first  congrats and I know EXACTLY how you feel! I saw next weeks run and panicked a bit. I'm going to repeat this week to make certain I can do week 5 without horrible problems yea everyone!!

Becky- thanks for the kind words- I'm not sure about other bandsters but I really beat myself up when I do something not part of the bandster rules. One day isn't a disaster - you are right! Laura- yea for losing 5 lbs!!! I travel extensively and am sympathetic to you- how are you handling the eating while you travel? I find resturants to be much harder- so many tempting dishes! keep up the great work! Karey- hope you are feeling better today! -

Karey- glad you were able to get your unfill and I agree it has to be hard on your body to do that much exercise without enough calories. An extra protein shake should help and likely boost your metabolism more! I'm personally struggling yall- had a bad eating day yesterday. I go to a meeting 2 x a month and they have these M&M cookies. I budgeted for one (calorie wise) and ended up going of on a major binge and can't figure out why it happened. No real reason. Its driving me nuts that its taking me so long to get these last 20 lbs off! Oh well, today is a new day! good luck everyone! -
Amanda, Bonnie and Mamato! yall are all doing great! Renewed hope- hope you were able to get your run in last night! Did week 4 run 2 today - walk at 3.7; run at 5.0-5.1. It was harder this time than on day 1. I had to extend my walks 30 seconds between runs. I think I'm going to repeat this week before moving on. It isn't necessarily that I'm out of breath although by the end of the 2nd 5 minute run I'm huffing a bit, my legs feel like they are weak. Weird. does anyone enjoy running yet?? I'm not certain I do. I love how I feel after but during. Not so much. Happy Thursday everyone!!!

Just facial stuff here....
mcgreen replied to TerriDoodle's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks for letting me know you liked the thermage! I've heard the results are variable but I only have one area right below the chin that bothers me and I think I'm another 10+ years from needing a face lift. I'll post photos when I get it done Did you ask your dermatologist about results of neck lift vs thermage?? YOU LOOK FABULOUS! Who did you use in houston for your eyelids?? I may want to get those done in the future. If thermage does well on my ex-double chin, I may do it for the eyes as well. -
Georgia Girl and Bonnie - you both rock!!! Pre band the only exercise I did was walking to the fridge to get ice cream! Lyn- hope surgery went well today! Bonnie- re speed- maybe do a longer warm up and then go up a tad on your speed?? I found I was "overrunning" the treadmill and had to go up a bit at times. Had to delay run 2 week 4 until tomorrow. Had a work meeting at 730 am and I met with my trainer today and didn't have time. Has anyone noticed that running is in some ways a mental challenge even more than physical? yes it kicks my butt physically but I find that I have to talk myself into another minute, another 30 sec, whatever and when I finally do, I physically can do it.

Karey!!! Happy Birthday to you! I wonder if the HCG is causing hormone fluctuations that is making your band seem tighter?? Progestins (which increase during pregnancy) cause lots of the bad side effects including swelling - Not certain what effect HCG has on that. I hope you feel better and get an un-fill! Hang in there!! You are doing FABULOUS! -
Wendy - that makes no sense to me- I guess if you aren't working out as much, you lose muscle and fat so your overall weight drops. If you lose more fat than muscle- your weight won't drop as much but you will lose inches and keep your metabolism up. Psychologically it seems like the first route would be best for those struggling but I'd rather build muscle and have the fat go more slowly. My weight isn't dropping (and it should be based upon calories eaten) but my pants are looser. Its all confusing to me too  Renewed- wow! re your family- that is fabulous that you are a foster mom!! I think that's such a selfless act to care for other's children, to give them a home and stability- thank you for doing that!!! The karma gods should totally get that fat off of you as thanks!

saw my dermatologist today- she thinks there is a good chance thermage will help my extra skin where my double chin would be so I'm set up for sept 8th! wooo! -
i am staying on plan today because ...
mcgreen replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm staying on plan today because I sure as heck didn't in las vegas and what happens in vegas.. stays in vegas! -
Renewed- you have 5 kids?? holy heck! Glad you have more energy! Just the thought of 5 kids exhausts me!! Did week 4 day 1. I think this week I will have to repeat- the second 5 minute run was hard. I run on a treadmill and try not to stare at the clock but was doing so during that last 5 minute run. Good thing is I did it! woo! Mentally, I think it makes the next run easier when you know you can already do it (if that makes sense) happy Monday!
-
Congrats! Looks like everyone has done well!!! Welcome Cutie and Georgia! I did week 3, run 3 while I was in vegas and didn't feel horrible at the end so will be moving on to week 4 day 1 tomorrow. EEK! a 5 minute run! Fingers crossed that it goes ok happy new week everyone! congrats Whosya!

thanks for starting this thread! I've had botox done and am going in again tomorrow for my second round. Love how it softens the crow's feet and the horizontal lines on my forehead I'm very interested in thermage for my skin leftover from my double chin. I don't have enough for a real neck lift but it bugs me and hopefully thermage may be the answer -
looks like everyone is doing great- congrats!!! did week 3 day 2 and it was ok. I think I'll be able to move to week 4. My heart rate is still getting up there but recovers very quickly (within 30 seconds of stopping). going to vegas (giving a talk on saturday) so will do week 3, day 3 there. Its always hard for me to stay on plan when I'm traveling and I need to get around that because I travel often for work. Everyone have a good weekend and keep up the good work!!!!!

Karey- don't beat yourself up! Its hard to stick to such a strict diet  tomorrow is a new day! Laura- I've seen those shoes- they are supposed to do great things to your heiny keep going! My weight has been stable a couple of weeks- I think its hormonal/fluid retention- if it doesn't drop soon I'm going to cut back a bit more on calories. I don't think I can exercise more. I'm eating quite a bit right now so have room to go down
