I am 7 weeks post op, I was sleeved on 9/26, and I can't stand the thought of eating at least 80% of the time. I am at the point where I am reintroducing foods. I am now nearly intolerant to all dairy, chicken no matter how moist, small cut or shredded doesn't stay down. If I eat something one time and try it again later it now makes me sick. I'm doing great with weight loss and all my bloodwork was great at my six week checkup. I still know this was the best decision I made, but as I sit here typing this I am fighting to keep down the 3 baby carrots, 4 small cubes of potatoes and sliver of roast beef I ate down. The doctor said this isn't uncommon, but I need someone who has been through this to tell me that it gets better. Now excuse me, I have lost the battle to keep dinner down.

I'm Gaining Weight 2 Weeks In?!?!
teen72381 replied to Kelly123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem. I was sleeved on 9/26 as well. I dropped 24 pounds in the first week and a half, but then then the last two days gained a couple pounds. I did see my doctor today for follow up and he said its entirely normal. I believe him of course, but its still a little heart breaking. I just started egg salad and refried beans and such. I know I'm not getting as much protein as I should but pretty close. Those damn shakes are just so hard to even look at any more though lol. -

When I started my little journey back in March I weighed 479 pounds. I had to do 6 months of nutritional therapy before the surgery and I am now 1 week out from surgery. In that time I have lost a total of 91 pounds, 21 since my surgery 9/26. I did a little before and after comparison you can see below. It's the little things that have kept me going. Like my wedding band that now spins around my finger instead of digging in, being able to get dressed without sounding like I just ran a mile and my husband being able to put his arms completely around me for the first time. It wasn't easy, I spent A LOT of time hungry and craving. Especially during the 2 weeks before surgery on that awful diet, but I am already feeling better and it was sooooo worth it!

I am getting the last few things together now then off to the hospital we go. Thankfully I am more excited than nervous at this point. The doctor expects I should be home by Saturday morning. Below is me at my highest weight of 479lbs. Today after 6 months of dieting and a week and a half on the pre-op diet I am now 409lbs. I can't wait to start my new life!

Getting Sleeved In The Morning
teen72381 replied to ArtSong's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GOOD LUCK!!! I am scheduled for 10am this morning myself! -
I started my pre-op liquid diet on Saturday 9/15, my surgery is set for 9/26. I have been doing great so far and have dropped 17lbs, but my hair seems to be falling/coming out significantly more than it has in the past. Its only been noticebly more since starting the diet. I have been taking my Vitamins and thought this was supposed to help prevent something like this. I want to lose weight not my hair! Has anyone had this problem, and if so was there a specific Vitamin you took or something you did to help?

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
teen72381 replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
In November of 2010 my boyfriend of three years proposed. Now I should have been over the moon happy, but all I could think was: "Why does he want to marry me?". In my head we were going to get married and because I didn't care enough about myself I was going to leave him a widow early. So why would he want to make that kind of commitment to me? I then I started thinking about the rest of my family and how my health was affecting them. I have a beautiful niece and nephew I can't keep up with. My father is in another state and I can't visit him because I am too big for the airplane seat. And my mother, she lives with us because she has advance COPD and I couldn't imagine not being around for her. All of these thoughts just from a little ring... So i decided I needed to make a change. After some time dealing with some family stuff and a job change I was finally able to take my first step in March of this year, and will be having my surgery next week 9/26/12!
