Reading this thread has me really excited to start my journey with running. I am going to take it slow and start the C25K program first. I am currently 3 months out from my surgery and I have been actively for the last 4 weeks training 3x a week with a personal trainer. Mainly focusing on strength training and building my muscle mass back up. I have to admit though.. and maybe it's because of only being 3 months out... but I still struggle getting in enough Protein and Water throughout the day and worry about if my body can even handle running at this point due to the lack of nutrition. Any suggestions for that??? I'm in WI, so running outside right now isn't really the best, so I plan to start out on the treadmill... but once it warms up a little I'm definitely going to take it outside. I am signing up for a 5k on May 25th... it' s The Color Run, which is non-competitive and SUPER fun!!! So I think it's a good first run for me to set as my goal. All of you on this tread are such an inspiration!!!

1 month out and aggravated...
TheNEWME! replied to JAnnette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear ya!!! When I let myself get a little too hungry, I tend to cook the way I feel or at least the way I think I feel and end up making way too much food and only eating a couple of bites. Sometimes, even though I'm not hungry after I've eaten, my mind is telling me it wants to finish my plate. However... on the bright side... this is why we did this... we did this so our stomachs would tell us when enough is enough and restrict what/how much we can eat. As a result, a skinnier us!!! So hang in there... it will get easier as the days/weeks/months go by. -
Im at my half way point!

Congratulations!!!!! I too am almost to my halfway mark... and it feels amazing!!! You have done so well for yourself!!! WAY TO GO! -
Oh you will definitely know how to drink slow after the surgery... as your stomach will certainly "communicate" with you. My best advice is to think of a medicine size type of cup, and taking little sips from that the first couple of days after surgery. Then you will graduate to bigger "sips" as the days and weeks go on. I am 3 months out and still cannot "gulp" or drink like I did prior to surgery.

6 weeks post op and stuck, I could use some moral support
TheNEWME! replied to Rockstarswife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stalls are perfectly normal... if you search for stalls in this forum you will find MANY threads on other people expierencing the same thing. It's unfortuante to go through this, but after reading a lot of people's testimonies, it seems as if the body needs to go through this as a way to catch up and deal with the rapid weight loss. Hang in there... it sucks, I know... but the weight will start to come off again. -

Love this thread!!! I too have felt as if I am a slow loser... My surgery date was 10/30/12 and I've lost 47 pounds. I've been seeing a very consistent weight loss of 1-2 pounds a week... sometimes I get a 2.5 or 3 lbs loss, but I would have to say 1-2 lbs is a very common weight loss for me. I have NOT had a stall yet... KNOCK ON WOOD... I can eat mostly whatever just at a very restricted amount. I do NOT get all the Protein and Water in that I should... but I try. Thank you for posting such an encouraging post. I know I'm in this for the long haul and would rather lose slowly but surely. I do not regret my decision at all to have this surgery and I look forward to what the future holds for me. -

I agree with ljperez... Walk Walk Walk and Walk some more. I actually even had my husband pat me on the back like a baby to help with the gas since it seemed to be isolated in my upper back. Not sure how much it helped but I was willing to try ANYTHING! Some people say GasX strips helps... but honestly I tried that and I didn't really notice much. So best piece of advice, hang in there and WALK WALK WALK! Good Luck!

11 Weeks Post Op: 1. I think I am a slow loser and should have lost more by now. (but I'm still THRILLED with the results thus far) 2. I probably eat WAY TOO MUCH cheese. (it is the easiest and most satisfying as of right now) 3. I work with a personal trainer 3x's a week but the days I don't, I do not work out at all. 4. I have had chicken nuggets from McD's. (out of convienence) 5. I'm frustrated with being a size 18. 6. I don't get all my Water and Protein in. 7. I can't wait until I can see my collarbones. 8. I am kind of tired most days. 9. This has been the best thing I've done for myself in ages!!! 10. I can't wait to go on the ultimate shopping spree!!!! -
Love this!!!! I'm only 10 weeks post op, but I too feel exactly the way you described!!!! Good JOB!

I too struggle with this!!! I've lost about 42 pounds since Oct. 30th (my surgery date). I thought by now I'd be in at least 16's but not yet... I can't get them up over my hips. But my 18's are baggy and not flattering at all. it seems as if I am losing most of my inches in the upper body area and lower but hips/butt/stomach are preventing that next step down in jean size... I SOOOO want to say I can move on and out of the 18's.

Mexico sleevers and passports
TheNEWME! replied to lwilliams65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chose to get the passport card vs the book. The card gets you across boarders by land OR sea. A book is definitely needed when flying into other countries. The card was cheaper and got to my home pretty fast... less than 3 weeks. -
5'5" Women....what is your goal weight or size?
TheNEWME! replied to VSGRachel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'5" and my goal is 150. I remember in 2001 when I got down to that size and I LOVED it!! I am also a curvy girl and love my curves... my other goal is to be toned and apparent muscle definition. So if my weight is a little more than that due to muscle... so be it!!! Highest Weight = 256.8 Surgery Weight = 247 (10/30/12) Current Weight = 215 -
I am totally going to start this tomorrow!!!

TheNEWME! replied to LaserSkinGirl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I used Dr. Fernando Garcia, Ready4AChange, Alma, Mi Doctor, and Marriott. I paid $4700 and was sleeved 10 weeks ago. I would HIGHLY reccomend him and his staff. They took wonderful care of me! -

Stalled maybe even gaining 4 weeks out
TheNEWME! replied to jerilo10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my experience... I'll be 10 weeks out tomorrow... is I lost a bunch in the first two weeks... then in the next couple of weeks my loss was maybe 1-2 pounds a week... which I was frustrated because I thought it would be more a week. I've never stalled, thank god, but 1-2 pounds a week was kind of frustrating as I had thought it would be much more. BUT then I started to eat a bit more than usual and started walking and lo and behold I was losing around 3 pounds a week. I still struggle with getting all my Water in a day and the reccommened Protein, but the merit to this story is... I thought "I'm barely eating 600 calories, why aren't I losing more weight???" Then I eat more and BAM! the weight starts coming off. So I think, my body, was telling me that it was going to hang on to everything it could because it needed it, so when I started to eat just a bit more, it was like "ok, I let go". LOL! So hang in there!!!! Experiment with eating... Drinking water and getting protein in should be your #1 concern... -
Since we don't eat much, I am wondering if there are any negatives about eating the "healthy" frozen meals... like from weight watchers, etc. Any thoughts???
