Just wondering if anyone has used these? I am concerned about the taste of the protein drinks and getting enough protein. Is it possible to just use a scoop of this mixed with your broth or put in your juice? I know I can put it in my jello when I make it so I'm assuming I can do the same with other things. Any thoughts or has anyone tried this?

Have A Question...
getnsknyntx replied to ThinnerTiff's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr says chewable vitamins after surgery they are also prescribing a b12 nasal mist I do once a week again after surgery. And I think 3 or 4 weeks out I start calcium Citrate at 3 months they do blood work to check my vitamin levels -
Mine happened really fast. Went for my 1st appt Aug 16 got approved Sept 14 surgery the 25th!! Started pre-op diet the 17th. I think I'm still in shock!!

I found my pill crusher at Walmart over where they have the pill containers that you can put your pills in for every day of the week. Haven't looked for the liquid tylenol yet but it will be a generic brand as tylenol doesn't actually make it anymore

Oh didn't think about extension cord thanks!! And have short hair so no worries about that

Live outside of Paris, TX but having surgery at Forest Park Medical Center in Dallas. Also the nutrionist said to have whoever was with me to keep my bed in an upright position cause it will help with the gas. Not at a 90 degree angle but in a reclining sitting position.

Oh and I also have diet v8 splash

The nut said there is a generic brand of liquid tylenol for adults. I'm going to the store today with my list!! Been on the liquid pre-op diet, had my EGD done yesterday and am wiped out today! But parents are coming in for my surgery so I have to clean!! I need a nap!

Reading these comments makes me sad! My parents are so excited for me! And my teenage daughters are excited for me as well!! I have told my co-workers and haven't had any negative reactions. Had a few kinda look at me funny but didn't say anything!! My in-laws have been told I'm going in for a hiatal hernia repair (which is really happening when I get sleeved) they would not understand and would get confused so my husband just thought that was easier! I think you just have to do what's right for you. Maybe tell her that its your life you love her and want her support but you don't need negative opinions!! Good luck!

I'm also in the 25th!! I have protein shakes, sf jello & popsicles, and boulion cubes for broth. Also have chewable vitamins, a pill crusher, miralax(surgeon said milk of mag but just the thought makes me wanna vomit so the NUT said miralax will work), gasx strips, liquid tylenol and I think that's it lol

Started Pre-Op Liquid Diet Today!
getnsknyntx replied to getnsknyntx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been told clear liquids only. Jello, popsicles, diet v8 splash, etc...nothing about protein shakes but I'm at my pre-op appt now and plan on asking the Dr -
Oh that just not fair but probably better for you. In my seminar they warned us about eating a lot before we start the pre-op diet because its such a shock to your system. Good luck!!!
-
Well I ate my last full meal EVER!! I have to say when I left the restaurant I almost cried. So I called my mom and after she laughed at me she reminded me that I will be able to eat there again I'm just gonna have a to go box that will last me several meals!! Liquid diet here I come!!

I haven't had my surgery yet but at the seminar I attended they said if your hot natured you'll be cold natured and if you cold natured you'll be even colder!

Food Has Always Been There For Me (Nervous)
getnsknyntx replied to Lloydthumper's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a friend tell me recently "no food taste as good as skinny feels" it has become my mantra when I get nervous about my surgery (which is Sept 25). Take a picture of yourself before your surgery and stick on the fridge and in the pantry!! When you think about food take 10 deep breaths. The psychologist said that oxygen releases the same endorphines as eating does. Try journaling or the punching bag, breaking old dishes thing was great!! Remember just because addiction runs in your family doesn't mean you have to go down that path. You are stronger than you think! Just look you took the step to change your life forever in a positive way!! Good luck!! -
Haha that's exactly what I say...I'm the healthiest fat person you'll meet!! I have mine on the 25th as well and can't wait!!! Good luck!!!!
-
Thanks!! How long do you have to do it? I have no other health issues...I'm not diabetic, don't have high blood pressure, high cholestrol, sleep apnea or any of the other common things an obese person has. I'm sure in time I would develop many if not all of the complications that comes with obesity!! I had to gain 10 lbs just to get my BMI up to a 40 for the insurance company to pay for it...39 wasn't good enough with other health issues!!

Yes thank goodness!!! I have read where some people have 2 or more weeks but I only have to do 1 week of a liquid diet.
