Well it's a long story, hope I don't bore anyone. Lol.
In 1992 I have the miss fortune of getting a bad surgeon for a tumor on my pancreas. He miss diagnosed it and proceeded to cut it out, bad decision. He ended up cutting into my pancreas and causing it to erupt into my body cavity.
It took the Mayo clinic to repair the damage, but I lost 75% of my pancreas, my spleen, and my gallbladder. Massive. Scaring and lifetime of diabetes. Oh joy!
A couple months ago I found a new doctor and he said, why don't you get a transplant? Well shoot, no one ever mentioned it before, durrrr
So started my journey. Problem is, that I am on so much insulin, my weight keeps going up, and up, and up. You get the idea. The transplant surgeon said I have to get the weight off to get the transplant. Well alrighty then.
The first bariactric surgeon I saw wouldn't take me, I was too risky. He sent me to a really good surgeon who is very familiar with the pancreas and is willing to do the sleeve.
Now I am on the pre surgery, shrink your liver diet. Like the Adkins diet but a lot less fat. I just finished my 2 month time and have 1 month to go. Lost 12lbs and vacationed at Walt Disney World.
Did my smoking test, never was a smoker so all that's left is seeing a therapist and meeting with the doc one more time. Oh and final pre op diet. Stay tuned the journey is gonna be bumpy. Lol
