    Post Op Day 3

The main thing I have heard is to keep hydrated. I had my week post op visit on Monday and he said right now my body was eating itself. Which was fine with me! Just keep trying to sip and get as much down as possible. At first I made a 4 oz protein shake it took me an hour to get down. Now it takes about 30 minutes. Just keep trying. Take it easy. Your body will know if it is too much then stop. You don't want to get sick. Also try to incorporate your vitamins as you can. Good Luck! I lost 10 lbs in 6 days. Hoping it continues:) Robyn

Not Bouncing Back Like I Thought

Hello Everyone! I am 9 dates Post Op and I have had a difficult time bouncing back. I work a labor intensive job and I am not going back to work until next week. I feel kinda depressed about it because most people seem to bounce back better than that. I was very sick after surgery due to an allergy to the pain killers. I had vomitting for the first 12 hours after surgery. It really made me sore. Just curious to see if anyone else seems to feel the same way. I am 39 years old, good health, love to be moving, so this has been hard.

    Confused

I have had many friends that have had rny. I am the first to have the sleeve. I went to 11 surgeons, countless seminars, and talked to everyone that I could. There are actually 4 surgeries out there! I decided on the sleeve for several reasons, mainly because of the side effects associated with the rny. I was worried about bathroom issues, since I work outside (letter carrier) absorption of food, and it was less evasive than the rny. I am only 9 days out of surgery but I feel pretty good. I stand by my decision and am feeling like it was the best one. You can talk to people and listen to their stories, talk to surgeons, but ultimately you need to make the best decision for yourself. Good Luck no matter what you choose!
  4. This is my first post, so I hope I am doing this right. I was diagnosed with diabeties last August. My parents both have diabeties and I have to help with their care. I do not want my son to have to take care of me. I also was remarried two years ago. I am so happy in my marriage but I hate that I have to take up part of my husband's space when we go to Detroit Tiger games, on an airplane, or at the movies. I want to be proud of myself. This is one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. I am only 9 days out of surgery, and although it has been difficult I am hopeful. I have enjoyed reading about everyone. Thank you! Robyn
