Anyone From New England?
Scaredy Cat replied to Scaredy Cat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
CarolC - I loved your list of what you're looking forward to. You're almost four months post-op now - any regrets? My husband is a "I'm not going to tell you what to do because it's YOUR body and I don't want to be blamed for anything but I wouldn't do it" kind of guy so I'm a little stressed about making it to surgery, through surgery and what my life will be like afterwards. Really, my worst fear is having regrets because this is permanent. Oh, if we could only see into the future!!!!!!!! -
Anyone Have Anxiety Prior To Their Decision To Have Vsg?
Scaredy Cat replied to Nicci's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having the same issue - scared about the permanence of it. BREATHE!!! -
Target sells a specially designed popcorn bowl. You add a tiny bit of oil ( or you can spray with Pam) and popcorn kernels. The microwave does the rest. It is soooooo much tastier that bagged microwave popcorn and its so much better for you. I use spray butter and salt. Sometimes I use salt, pepper and garlic seasoning!

Yesterday I Wrote About My Charley Horse...
Scaredy Cat replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was pregnant and kept getting Charlie horses in my calves, my doctor prescribed a magnesium supplement, not potassium. -
For me, I can't tolerate the texture of cottage cheese - reminds me too much of curdled milk - yuck!!!!

I'm 5 feet and weight 260 (BMI 51). I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure, achey knees, etc. My family history of heart conditions, obesity, and cancer on my father's side is not good. Five out of the seven children in his family have died of cancer. I somehow managed to get myself right in line to be just like him. I know that for me, this is medically necessary. I know it will almost immediately improve my health. I know that my children (ages 10 and 14) will have me around longer and that I will enjoy doing more things with them. I know I NEED to do this. But I am so scared. I'm not scared of the surgery itself but the long-term "living with the sleeve forever". What's it like five or ten years from now. Is there still satisfaction from eating so little? Is there weight gain. Is everyone still as happy as they were when they lost the first 100? Looking for a little support I guess. Thanks,

I'm so sorry about your loss. I know it's heartbreaking. My grandmother died last year at the age of 95. She's in good hands now.

Anyone From New England?

God I look HUGE in my profile photo. Just look at the fat face. Ugh!!! Funny how we don't see ourselves accurately until we look at a photo and then all of a sudden, we're somehow shocked. By next year, that face will be totally changed but I will still be ME -

Hi everyone! So glad you're here! Sounds like everyone is doing well. I just had my first appt. with Dr. Pohl this morning. I'm on my way and I'm so excited. there was a lady in the waiting room that I spoke to for quite a while. She had gastric bypass three years ago and loves it! I had so many questions, omg I asked her question after question but she was so nice. She was there with her husband who is getting the surgery now. Kristen - funny - I had two C-sections too. Keep doing well! Tekara - Heyyyy back! Good for you - 45 pounds GONE! Amazing! keep in touch - you're not that far away in beautiful NH! Little Red 30 - no Dr. Phol is not a big talker but he's the best and that's what I care about from him. You'll be eating that yogurt in no time! Baby steps ljperez - Nice to know we have a Bostonian on board too. Have you already been sleeved? LessofKelly - welcome! -

My First Dr Appointment
Scaredy Cat replied to Jimbo_D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you feel!!! My first appointment is next week and I'm hoping my doctor agrees with my decision to be sleeved instead of the bypass. In the seminar, he discounted the lapband and essentially useless now (too many problems), said he's done thousands of bypasses (which he has) and said that the sleeve has not been tested for 40 years like the bypass has but is a viable option. But, in my opinion, it's been tested enough. There are people on this site who are going on five or more years and seem to love it. Good for you for knowing what you want. Fingers crossed that I don't chicken out next week. -

If you put a protein shake in a blender with lots of ice, can it turn into a coolata or frosty like drink? Anyone try this? -

Not all of them are sugar free, but some are! -
Confused here... Some posters feel like they can NEVER have certain foods again and others are saying they can eat anything they want, just much smaller portion sizes. Which is true?

At Target, near the coffees, I saw extracts (guess they put them in coffee) but why not in shakes! Different flavors like pumpkin spice... -
Thanks so much for the encouagement. In my head, I see me sitting down to dinner with my family and hoping to be able to have what they're having but just a lot less of it. I also envision having lots of protein shakes, bagged frozen chicken and lean cuisines on standby for those nights when I need an alternative. I know it will be a big adjustment.
