For all those driving home right after surgery, have your driver bring a pillow and put it in the car for you. When driving, hold that pillow against your stomach - the bumps on the road won't hurt nearly as bad. This is something I learned after having 2 c-sections. Hope it helps you too

It's true the sleeve has not been around as long as the bypass surgery, but I had read that it's essentially the same surgery that they've been using for decades for stomach cancer and ulcers. Anyone else read this?

I backed out 5 years ago (and 35 pounds ago) thinking like you. And here I am pre-op, jumping thru the hoops again. Good luck in whatever decision you make - we wish you nothing but the best

My doctor suggests 4 to 6 weeks. I want the entire 6 weeks. We have temporary disability insurance that we pay for out of every paycheck. I can use that for the entire 6 weeks. Yah, having it taken out sucks but getting some of it back when you need it is awesome

I'll admit, I don't really like exercise (yet). I've dieted on and off since I was a teenager and just like the rest of you, it always came back. How do I help him realize that I'm not copping out!!

Is there a reason why the surgeon doesn't take them out as part of the procedure if its very possible to cause problems/pain?

Boo!! I am the ghost of vertical sleeving and my other spirits and I walk the halls of all hospitals on Halloween looking for the stomachs that have been removed... Bwahaha! Bwahaha!!

My husband told me that he doesn't want me buying any more clothes until after surgery. This is a good thing - means he's getting used to the idea.

Do you think there are people out there who will see your weight loss and not say anything due to jealousy. For some reason, they don't want to validate your decision? I've lost weight and no one said anything - it was disheartening. The worse thing is that even though the scale said one thing, my clothes didn't feel it either.

My best friend of 20 Years has remained my friend through most of my weight gain. She is a nurse and although she doesn't lecture me, we have talked about my health as it relates to my weight. When I told her of my decision she was very supportive. She is thinner than me and said that she can't wait until I'm able to do more stuff with her like we used to. When she said this, wow it hit me how much "life" I've been missing. I know she'll be my friend after the surgery and will probably be my biggest supporter as I go through this life-changing transition. I can't say that about anyone else in my life - I'm so blessed to have her!!!

I'm still scared but will go thru it anyways -- for my health. I'm trying to go thru the necessary appointments and not think about it too much - guess I'm scared of failing this. I've never been into exercise physically ( but in my head - I'm a runner LOL). I think I've just gotten used to being lazy and sedentary. Guess I'm not feeling too strong minded today.
