  1. So yummy. So easy.

1/2 Spanish Onion, chopped or diced

4 pieces of garlic, chopped or diced

2 tbls olive oil or unsalted butter (your preference)

Saute onion and garlic in large deep pan w/ olive oil or butter until golden brown

Add 1 green and 1 red bell pepper, sliced into thumb sized chunks

    Stir continually

Add approx 1 lb of Brussels Sprouts, stem removed and halved. Add any leaves that fall off too

Add 1 package skinless tukey smoked sausage, sliced... Cont to stir until veggies and sausage are browned. Set aside

3 boneless skinless chicken breast, cubed, and tossed in 4 TBLS of flour, a teaspoon of salt and teaspoon of pepper

2 tbls of olive oil or unsalted butter (your preference) in a separate pan

Added breaded chicked and cooked until golden brown

Add chicken to veggie/sausage pan scraping along any breading that stuck to the pan

Put collective mixture back on the heat

Add 1 can of reduced sodium chicken broth

Add 1.5 - 2 cups of dry white wine

Stir. Cover. Simmer on low-med heat until wine reduces, and cooks out the alcohol, the veggies are tender, and the chicken in cooked through

Serve over low carb angel hair Pasta

  2. That is true' date=' some of the nurses at Almater were definitely young, but the one who put my IV in was an older lady with lots of experience. I have tiny veins, and she had a young nurse behind her observing... but the older nurse did the IV and got in on the first try.

And we both know that the bathrooms at Almater don't look like that. lol[/quote']

My veins roll and protest, which really sucks for me as a regular blood donor. They drew my blood and got my vein the first try too. Thank goodness because I was nervous!!!

The bathrooms were clean and modern. Good Water pressure too, which I was worried about. A superficial worry, but I will own it...

I wish I had taken more pics. It really helps us tell our stories.

  3. Glad you are on the mend Chickadee. I hope the rest of your recovery is easy peasy <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I had my surgery at florence. My bathroom was in much better condition. Hopefully they take care of the tile issue in that room soon.

The nursing staff did seem youngish. I never had concerns with the care though. They were very sweet and caring.

The hospital may be a teaching hospital which would explain for the young-ish staff. I believe Almater is a teaching hospital as well.

  4. My bestie who had gastric bypass over ten years ago & has kept the weight off...had all of the surgeries you mentioned above' date=' but separately...and arms hurt worse than one would think...she had to have her mother stay with her & help with the tubes, cleaning, etc...she has spent lots of money spread out over 10 plus years....and she has lots of scars. I would love to eventually have my arms done, but the scars would still keep me from wearing sleeveless.... I think the tummy is all I will do. Best of luck to you with it! Great job on the weight loss![/quote']

Thank you for the feedback and the compliment. I will definitely put health over vanity.

But sheesh, my trouble spots are soooooo troublesome. Smh.... Patience. I must practice my patience.

  5. Hi AmandaRaeLeo' date='

I am 12 weeks out from my plastic surgery with Dr Victor Gutierrez in Tijuana Mexico. I had a Lower Body Lift, Butt Lift and Breast Lift.. He was concerned mostly about my health and having too many surgeries done at the same time. So I had to put off having my arms and thighs done. He is a gifted surgeon, and you can barely see my any of my scars. In fact even after this short time, I can barely see my breast scars. It was the best decision for me and my health and I am happy I had a wise doctor put my health above anything else. There is no way I could have handled anymore surgery than what I had. I know everyone is different, but for me I am very happy with my results and the surgeries that I have had and plan on going back next summer for my arms and tights.

Focus on being as healthy as you can throughout your weight loss, that way your body will be healthy and strong for plastic surgery.[/quote']

Thank you for the feedback! I don't know which area(s) to focus on first!!!

Plus travel postop. I suspect it would be harder to travel after plastics than VSG.

  6. My highest weight was 405 lbs and I still have a ways to go before I hit goal, my current weight is 298 lbs... Buuuuuuuut..... I'm thinking about plastics and planning accordingly now.

I will definitely need tummy, thighs, arms, and breasts nipped and tucked. Maybe the double chin.

Anyone know how much can safely be done at once? I don't want to do too much at once but I don't want to live in a constant surgery/recovery state of mind.

Tummy, thighs, and arms are my biggest priority. They will be the ugliest and "I Can't Believe They're Not Mine" bras will pick up the slack for awhile.

All feedback, especially personal experiences, very welcome.

I may be a "medical tourist" again for this.

  7. Lemme guess...your nut was like my nut....about 10% body fat.

I mean don't former alcoholics lead the group at AA? Shouldn't people like us be NUTs for WLS patients? Those forever skinny people have no clue what it's like.

WW leaders have to be members and have worked the program to run meetings.

It seems like common sense to me... Or is common sense an oxymoron nowadays?
