I keep drifting in and out of anxiety over anesthesia. I have a phobia of never waking up. I know it's rare. Highly unlikely. But it gets to me sometimes. Any other irrational fears out there? Amanda Rae

I wouldn't lie about the reason. Also, HR can only confirm dates and not deets with your boss. You could explain you're using vaca for medical reasons and should you need to go beyond the scheduled vaca time what steps should you take for leave. Explain you don't anticipate that being necessary but want to know just in case. But don't lie. Amanda Rae
